Not too shabby. Great steaks and rib. At the prices they charge, especially for drinks, they'd better be. Service was very friendly, I enjoyed the atmosphere. Good parking helps as well. Bring some serious cash, though, cause you're gonna need it. Will definately return. more

Superb grass fed beef, local farm produce, fresh seafood 8/24/2009

Based on its long standing success and excellent reputation, I expected The Boulder Cork to excel in delivering classic steakhouse cuisine in an upscale environment. The traditional decor and the attentive and knowledgeable staff certainly enhanced this impression. And I already knew about the award winning wine list. What I did not expect was the level of sophistication and thoughtfulness the kitchen put into its preparations. The chef's passion for fresh, natural ingredients and culinary details were evident causing our meal to far transcend the typical, upscale steakhouse experience. It was simply the best steak I can remember putting in my mouth including recent offerings at far more expensive locales. And the fresh seafood, local farm vegetables and generous desserts were also prepared to perfection. Bravo! Pros: Excellent ingredients; polished preparations; top wine list Cons: Traditional trappings bely culinary excellence. more

Good for food, bad for groups 2/11/2009

I attended a party in their private backroom that had around 50 people. The room was great, separated from the rest of the diners and very accomodating. The service, however, is the reason I gave this review a 3 instead of a 4. They didn't bring everyone drinks and it took almost 40 minutes for our food to be served. (There were 4 preselected entrees to choose from). This is understandable as there was quite a large group. However they did not serve any appetizers like a salad or bread during the wait so all the guests were very hungry by the time the food arrived. And then even when the food arrived the portions were not very large. I don't need to eat a lot and it was barely enough to satisfy me so I can only guess that some guests were left not fully satisfied. Pros: food, wine, atmosphere Cons: service more

Fabulous service and food 2/11/2009

My husband and I spent our twenty-third anniversary at the Boulder Cork this year. Upon entering the restaurant, the sweet hostess took our coats and hung them safely away in the closet, and took us to a fabulous table in the back of the restaurant next to the fireplace. I would suggest calling ahead for a reservation, as our server and the hostess were well aware that this was to be a very special evening for us, and literally made us feel like royalty. more

Great Quiet Restaurant 6/24/2008

It is out of the way, but this makes for easy parking. There are not a lot of stand alone businesses anymore which makes this a nice place to go to. The rustic atmosphere along with the quiet atmosphere makes it so you can spend some quality time with that special someone. The steaks are tender and cooked to perfection every time. The servers pay attention to every detail and are quick to accommodate. Pros: Quiet, easy parking, great steaks and service Cons: A bit out of the way more

TOO MANY GOOD RESTRAUNTS TO EVER GO BACK 2/24/2008

my wife and i have resided in boulder for over 20 yrs. we tried the Cork for the only the second time since moving to boulder. Pros: NICE AMBIENCE Cons: HIGH PRICES, POOR FOOD more

Though the food is good the staff is unfriendly. 12/31/2007

The food is good but the staff and atmosphere ruin the experience. They are overly pretensious for what The Cork is and inattentive. We keep ""giving it another shot"" because it is near our house, but are dissappointed each time. more

User review by fleemanc 11/10/2005

This was my first visit to the Cork and I'm glad I went. The Kansas City strip was recommended with good reason. It was one of the finest steaks I've ever eaten. Every bite was exquisitely tender and ""buttery."" One of the most flavorful cuts of meat I have experienced in years. The potato (described as ""kind of like a large french fry"") was an excellent match. With the juices from the steak and the crunchy exterior, it was a delicious alternative to the standard mashed or baked potato. The creme brulee, while good, was a little over carmalized. It was more akin to blackened. Overall price was decent, especially for the quality of the food. I've been to other steak houses that cost nearly twice as much and the quality was not comparable. When I'm in the area and hunger for steak, the Cork is where I'll go. Pros: ample parking, nice atmosphere Cons: hard butter (chilled), overzealous brulee more

Mud Pie Heaven 12/13/2002

I have been to the Boulder Cork a few times and have loved it every time. The Teriyaki Sirloin is wonderful and the mud pie is to die for. I would eat here just for the dessert. The decor is nice b/c there are many rooms in the restaurant and every room has a different feel. The food is prepared nicely and the menu has a great offering of seafood, steak and other things so everyone can find something great to eat. This is also a good place to take a date or to go with a group. more

Ok Steaks, the rest is meadiocre 11/28/2002

They have good steaks here, but the rest of the menu is mediocre at best. Salads, vegitables, and appeitizers are all below par. While the meat was good, it seems expensive given the overall quality of the meal. Service was adequate. We were from out of town, and tried to bring a magnum of our favorite Washington state wine. The server would not open it, apparently due to to some regulation in Boulder County. I did not change the restaurant rating due to the wine issue. Pros: Good steaks more
