Love bluehour! I think it is the prettiest and classiest restaurant. I like that I can sit in the restaurant and have a special meal or hit up the cheap happy hour or eat in the b...

Darn. How Dissappointing. The food is unfortunately highly inconsistant, as if the cooks one night differ significantly in skill or commitment from the next. On top of this, it is...

NICE ROOM, MEDIOCRE FOOD 2/14/2003

Another Pearl District business that is over the top on price without that much to back it up. What is up with these people?!? This is not SOHO, this is Portland. The ambience is quite chic~chic...and the food is not horrible. It is just not worth the high price to have dinner and drinks that are not that special. I will continue to look in Portland for special places that are truly worth the price, which I never mind paying for true quality. But I think I am done with the Pearl for now. It is penthouse pricing for warehouse quality. Pros: Nice Room Cons: Way Over Priced, Snooty Personnel more

Just okay 2/8/2003

I loved the atmosphere and staff and was prepared to have a wonderful dining experience! Everything was lovely but in my opinion the food did not match up to it's price. We dined on the Red Snapper and Sausage entree....just so so. There are other places available in Portland with MUCH more interesting food. But if you're looking for place to have a couple drinks (wonderful wine list) and socialize by all means....visit. Go somehere else for dinner. Pros: Great Staff, Wonderful Atmosphere, Super wine list Cons: Moderate Food more

sooooo LOVELY.... ~~~ HIPSEXY 1/13/2003

We stopped in on a Sunday night late, and they kept the bar open for us!! Bartender and manager Dan was super nice. We will go back!!!!!!!!!!! Great drinks too! more

I was not Blue 1/6/2003

Went for my birthday, great service, atmosphere and every morsel was fabulous. Expensive but it was my birthday - what the heck! We had drinks, appetizers, entrees as well as dessert and spent 3 hours there very comfortably. I'll be back soon. Pros: creative drinks, atmosphere, good food Cons: somewhat expensive more

One of my favorites 12/22/2002

Bluehour has wonderful food and a great staff. The food ranges from good to fantastic. All you've heard is true, this is one of the top few restaurants in town. more

A blue experience 12/19/2002

We were very disappointed with our dining experience at the Bluehour. My husband and I, along with two other couples, celebrated a his birthday at the Bluehour. The service was poor; the wait staff was inattentive. The food was average. We all agreed that we'd had much better meals at other restaurants. For the quality, the prices were much too high. Had it not been for the good company, our experience would have been completely dissatisfying. We will not return. Cons: Uncaring wait staff, average food, high prices more

SF moves to Portland 12/12/2002

San Francisco post modern, stylish. Great starters, great drinks, nice atmosphere, inconsistent main dishes. Go and order several appetizers. Great caesar salad. Pros: great appetizers, great drinks, ambience Cons: inconsistent entrees more

blue hour is not just for blue hairs! 12/11/2002

Just the hip gourmet dining experience I would expect in the Pearl. The early crowd is a little sedate, but the wine list made up for it. more

crying the blues 12/4/2002

After all the bally hoo I was finally able to talk my boyfriend into taking us there. It was good, but not worth the money. Alot of the New York aire which is fine... if you're in NY. Will we go there again? Probably not unless someone else is paying. We like to go places that you get value for our hard earned dollar. If you've got it to spend, go for it Cons: spendy more

Nice restaurant, but seemingly sterile 12/4/2002

I was very excited to go to this restaurant the first time. But the restaurant as a whole disappointed me. The food was good, the service professional. But it had the distinct feeling of over-professionalism. Everyone was all business giving me the impression that all they cared about was getting the food out, and me paying the bill. Perhaps this works in New York, but not in Portland. Nevertheless I am going to give the place a second try, as I continue to hear great things about it. Pros: Nice location, cool building Cons: few meatless options more

I wonder 11/30/2002

What a great place for any occasion. Professionalism and love for food and drink shines through at this place. It sure would be nice to cozy up to a nice frosty can of PBR though. It's obvious that some truly cares about the guest experience rather than the bottom line. How refreshing! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

One of the Best! 11/5/2002

Bluehour is one of the best restaurants on the West Coast. They kitchen turns out stylish, simple, delightful tasting food. While the restaurant and clientele can be a bit intimidating, service is generally friendly. It can be a little expensive, but well worth it for such fantastic food. Bravo! Pros: Awesome food, great ambiance, original cocktails Cons: feels exclusive, a little expensive more

BLUEHOUR ROCKS! 11/4/2002

Great place! I wanted to hate Bluehour before I tried it: I thought it would be hard to beat Zefiro after many years of great food and service. But now, after many delicious meals, and hanging out with friends there, I truly believe it is the best restaurant in Portland. Their grilled ribeye steak is the largest, and easily the best steak in Potland. The menu has continuously progressed with each passing year: they are surpassing Zefiro with quality food, terriffic service, and a beautiful space. It's also immensely fun to get drunk on the patio in the summer. Pros: GREAT DRINKS, VALET PARKING, GREAT FLOWERS Cons: OTHER CUSTOMERS, CAN BE CROWDED more

Its Quality out shines the hype 11/2/2002

Quality gets my vote every time. I had heard about this restaurant's decor, snooty service and place ""to be seen"" status, and it kept me away. Until last night..........I finally decided to visit and I wish I hadn't waited so long:( The service was great.I sat in the dining area and had a very sweet blond woman wait on my husband and me. The food was delicious and all I can say today is ""VENISON!!"" Out of this world. This place is a find. Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, MUSIC Cons: a little too busy more

Lives up to the hype 11/1/2002

I'll admit it, the food is good at Bluehour...really good. I've been to this restaurant several times, and although the service can be a bit uneven, the food has alway been worth the wait. Yes, the atmosphere is a bit chilly and uptight, but, where else but in Portland can you go dressed in jeans to a restaurant like this and still feel comfortable? Yes, people complain that Bluehour is too pretentious. I for one will tolerate a bit of pretension for as long as they keep turning out the kind of food I've come to expect from them. Pros: great food, "kicks it up a notch", great coctails Cons: uneven service more

Trendy eats! 10/30/2002

Great, fresh and imaginative food. They make a mean Mojito(sp?) more

Most Overrated Restaurant 10/27/2002

I've lived in Portland for 30 years and have sampled the fare at many restaurants here and elsewhere and I have to say that Bluehour is the WORST restaurant I've ever been to, and that includes the old Monte Carlo. We waited hours, literally for our food -- when it came it was the wrong thing, it smelled horrible and nothing was done as an apology -- no free dessert, drinks or appetizer, not even the words, ""We're sorry for the inconvenience."" My advice...don't go there! more

Good Food, Great Atmosphere 10/18/2002

I loved the atmosphere...and the food was good. I would not make a special trip back more

It's called attention to detail 10/17/2002

Snooty and Pretentious? Yep, many of the people who eat and drink at BlueHour are snooty and pretentious! And that's too bad, because the atmosphere, food, drinks and staff are certainly among the best you are going to find - period. Enjoy these things, and be entertained by the guests, and you can be guaranteed to have a great time. Some little secrets I've learned: Donnie, the bartender, is the best looking guy in Portland. The fried olives are a must. The hamburger, although different, you've just gotta try it. Kimberly swishes like a demon. and.... I'm going there right now, so look for me! more

Snooty 10/15/2002

My evening at Blue Hour accomplished nothing more than to make me disgusted with the new Pearl District snobbery. The service is unneccesarily rude and decidedly cold. I've been to many restaurants and found the service at Blue Hour to be no better than any chain restaurant. Pros: Good lighting Cons: Expensive, Slow service more
