Darn. How Dissappointing. The food is unfortunately highly inconsistant, as if the cooks one night differ significantly in skill or commitment from the next. On top of this, it is...

Food may be great but the service is 4/17/2012

Food may be great but the service is horrible. Met my attorney friend from Seattle there. We were both tired and dressed in our comfort clothes, jeans and sweatshirts and sat in the bar. Though, it was not busy no one approached us. Servers, bartenders, and hosts were walking pass our tble over and over but they completely ignored us and made us feel unwelcome. We eventually left after 20 minutes. I felt bad for my friend who had never been to Portland before. more

Always superb.... 2/20/2011

Stop by whenever I'm in town. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ambience!!! Elegant, classy, always charming (and busy ... maybe the secret's out, but wish happy hour wasnt so crowded) \r Have never had dinner. (the menu looks pricey)\r Mostly happy hour and lunch.\r Great food.\r LOVE THE COCKTAILS!!!!!!!!!!\r Great staff. (Cris was our waiter twice at lunch)\r Yes there are the trendy types and the high rollers, but also can occasionally be a nice place to mingle (if it wasnt so loud between 7-10pm)\r Overall, highly recommended. more

We're done with bluehour 12/29/2010

I don't know if Bluehour changed ownership or management, but the food has gone from being some of the best in the city to not worth eating. Four of us had dinner there this week and from the appetizer to the dessert, nothing was very good. My wife couldn't even eat her main dish and I only ate mine because I was hungry. Even the bread they put on the table lacked flavor. Our meal cost more than $300. Never again. Too bad because the wait staff was professional and the interior still elegant. By contrast, two nights later we had dinner at Higgins. Everything was amazing, the way Bluehour used to be. more

always a treat 3/21/2010

bluehour is my neighborhood restaurant and I am probably there way too much, but its a Portland favorite. The food is consistently well executed and flavorful [I want to roll in the black truffle gnocchi sauce] and the staff warm and welcoming. My favorites include the salmon tartar, bacon wrapped scallops, and anything that Chef Drew has as a special [fried green tomatoes with fried oysters last summer were amazing]. The bar menu is also a good find, with great pasta and an excellent fondue. And one of the best burgers in town.\r \r The only negatives that I can think of are a rather pedestrian wine list [but that is changing for the better] and tough parking in the Pearl [which is why they have a valet!].\r \r Go and enjoy the food and the great people. And avoid the attitude and wanna be folks that tend to inhabit the bar on the weekends with their turned up shirt collars, loud voices and taste for Tiajuana Speed Balls. Pros: ambience, food, waitstaff Cons: parking [so use the valet!], crowded bar more

OK Restaurant 12/14/2009

The food was ok but pricey but the service was way too slow. To the point that I felt our table was ignored. While I find it annoying to be constantly approached, come on - 30 minutes after the entree came and there we no checking back. A quick check back could have made all the difference as one in our party had undercooked meat. A quick fix ordinarily. Pros: Appetizers were good, food was generally good Cons: service, not so hot more

Happy hour is the best in town 10/15/2009

I have never been for dinner because it's a bit pricey, but the happy hour is really nice. Not a lot of drink selections, but the food is well priced and of great quality. more

Great Blue Hour Burger. Snobby atmosphere. 9/23/2009

PROS: \r *Blue Hour Burger\r *Happy Hour\r \r CONS: \r *Terribly expensive outside of Happy Hour\r *Sacrificed comfort to be ultra-modern\r *Snobby staff\r *Snobby patrons\r *Happy Hour Meatball is blah\r \r Overall, if you go for the Blue Hour Burger or Happy Hour, it can be worth it. Any other reason you're going and you may be wishing you had saved your money. Pros: Blue Hour Burger. Cons: A little too modern to be comfortable. Snobby atmosphere. more

2nd time even better than the first 9/16/2009

Stopped into Portland, from out of town, and had a light dinner in their bar area. This was my second time eating here and it was even better than the first. The food keeps getting better! They had a special that night of calamari, served with arugula, and capers, and lemon. It was amazing and even better than fresh calamari I've had in Italy. Definitely a must for all diners! Try it while they still have it on their menu! Pros: amazing dishes Cons: busy and had to wait for a table in the bar more

Who cares? 5/15/2009

fake Pros: no Cons: nothing more

love the cocktails, love the food 4/16/2009

I had their new cocktail - the ""Magnolia"" and then I had another. I'm usually skeptical of fruity drinks, but this was the perfect combination; nothing ""sticky-sweet"" about it... instead a nice balance of fresh peaches and lime juice. It went perfectly with the Tuna Tartare. I think this may be the perfect summer combination. Pros: try the ""magnolia"" - the perfect spring cocktail Cons: busy bar, but that made it fun more
