WOW 1/9/2009

I'm floored. This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant. I can't even explain how delicious everything was. The portions were HUGE, my husband had 3 meals worth of leftovers the next day, just from what i couldn't finish of my appetizer and meal. It makes NO difference if you are vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore... the food is just out of this world. It was PACKED on a Thursday, be SURE to make reservations. We drove 1hour to get there, i don't regret a minute, and am considering moving closer so i can eat there every week, lol! I MUST go back soon! I cannot praise this place enough. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

The Best Food I've had...ANYWHERE 11/15/2008

I spent a lot of time looking for the best vegetarian restaurant in Philadelphia to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday. Blue Sage definitely did not disappoint. The food was not only the best vegetarian food that either of us had ever had, but quite possibly the best food we'd ever had...period. This is not for lack of trying other restaurants. I live 45 minutes away and definitely plan on going back. The goat cheese nachos are incredible (this is coming from somebody who normally does not like goat cheese). The salads really are all they're cracked up to be, and I didn't see a single entree brought out to other tables that didn't make me think to myself ""why didn't I order that!?"" The one thing that wasn't outstanding was the chocolate cake...probably because I didn't realize it was vegan. You can judge their prices for yourself on their website. I think they are very fair and reasonable, especially for the quantity and quality of food that you receive. Pros: Best vegetarian food in the Philly metro region, period. Cons: It's a bit far out in the suburbs and not that easy to get to. Need a car to get there. more

A GEM! 8/28/2006

Probably the best food in the entire state! This little gem situated in a small strip mall is wonderful! Great decor, staff, and menu! We try to get here twice a month. Great for lunches! Mmmm- Market Cubano Sandwich! For dinner- the best appetizers- Blue Corn and Asparagus Tacos AND Adobo Goat Cheese Nachos! Outstanding! Always fresh! MAKE RESERVATIONS! Pros: Food choice Cons: Too stuffed to make it to dessert! more

Not Just For Vegetarians.... 12/11/2005

Just so anyone who hasn't dined at the Blue Sage yet knows the food is simply superb! (Even if you're a carnivore) The salads are to die for...especially the Spinach Fresco and unless you get the side dish size you probably won't be able to finish this scrumptious combination of fresh baby spinach, baba ghanous stuffed roasted tomatoes, feta cheese, roasted pistachios topped off with a crispy frazzle of carrots in a sort of maple balsamic vinigriette. Can you tell I love this salad? There are plenty more house specialties to enjoy from their cubano grilled sandwiches to their Blue Corn Tacos and they make one of the best cups of coffee in town. Pros: creative cuisine, friendly servers, great music Cons: parking is very tight, slightly expensive more

One of my new Favorites! 6/14/2005

I enjoyed every mouthful of my meal at Blue Sage! From the Thai carrot soup to the vegetable and smoked mozz quesadilla to the chocolate dessert, which I literally ate with my eyes closed to savor the thrilling sensation of mouthwatering bliss that danced upon my tongue... I could not have enjoyed my meal more! The portions were huge! I split the main entre with my friend and had enough soup left over to last me a week! Needless to say, we finished the dessert! The staff was so friendly and so helpful, I felt very comfortable in the charming atmosphere they created. As a vegetarian, it can often be difficult finding gourmet quality food that suits a vegetarian lifestyle. Even as a non-vegetarian - This Food is amazing, the atmosphere lovely, and the options are all very healthy for you. Enjoy! more

This is vegetarian? 7/7/2004

Think of it as the superb cooking of vegetables, not a ""vegetarian"" restaurant. Highly inventive, very tasty food, beautifully presented. Tasty surprises in every dish. Watch out for the vegan desserts. There's a reason we eat dairy products--taste. The non-vegan desserts are much better. Pros: Inexpensive, Excellent food more

Vegetarian Heaven 12/9/2002

Blue Sage is the best vegetarian restaurant I have been to in the U.S. It beats Greens and Millennium in SF hands-down. The food was innovative, with fantastic flavor combinations. Delightful sauces, gorgeous presentation! This restaurant celebrates the wonders of veggies. There is nothing trying to be meat. For vegetarian-unfriendly Philadelphia, this is an oasis I plan to frequent. more

Amazing vegetarian food!!! 7/29/2002

It's worth the trip out of the city for Blue Sage Vegetarian Grille. The presentation of the dishes is gorgeous, and the unique creations all taste fantastic. I recommend the red pepper hummus appetizer highly.... more
