Outstanding Customer Service!!! 8/4/2008

I have been going to the Blue Fin for months at least once a week. I can't say enough good things about this place but I will try to break ti down into categories for ease of reading.\r \r Service: \r The service is amazing, some of the best I've ever had. The staff is always smiling and they go out of their way to take care of you. Jenny, Heather, and Liz are incredible. These ladies know how to take care of you. Dave and Roland: they can cook my food anytime. Its flavorful and they will adjust your meal to fit your needs.\r \r Drinks: Jenny and Heather are the type of bartenders you look for in a neighborhood bar, they are super friendly. They have a good selection of drinks and I would suggest taking advantage of their $5.00 martini night on Sunday. The Green Goose and Pineapple Upside are my favs!\r \r Food: If Dave or Roland are cooking (which they always have been when I am there) you are golden. Not sure about the other reviews here but then again I also don't eat red meat. My friend has had their sirloin and it has been wonderful. Their garlic mashed potatoes, spinach, and squash/zuchini mix are the best sides. The tiliapia and seafood alfredo is delicous as well. By far my favorite dish they have (only on special) is their mushroom ravoli....oh my goodness! This meal is amazing. We always get it with scallops and shrimp added to it and its to die for. The cream sauce is full of flavor and has a slight sweetness to it. For appetizers try their crab dip, shrimp cocktail, or southwestern egg rolls.\r \r Atmosphere: This place is exactly what Wake Forest needed, especially by Heritage. It definitely has that ""Cheers"" feel to it because the regulars are always in their catching up with one another. Its nicely decorated, making it warm and cozy. Great for a full meal or if you just want a few drinks.\r \r The Blue Fin is a must try if you haven't been. Just ask for Jenny, Heather or Liz and they will take care of you! Pros: Customer service, drinks, food Cons: Alittle pricey but worth it more

Avoid the ribs, relatively poor customer service 5/26/2008

My wife and I have actually eaten here at least a dozen times due to its proximity to our neighborhood. When we go out to eat, we are not that price conscious -- we are just after a quality experience. What we have noticed about Blue Fin is that their food quality and customer service experience is highly variable. In the past, it has ranged from average to above average depending on the items ordered and time of day.\r \r This last Sunday -- 5/25/2008, I ordered the ribs -- which were terrible. Definitely a disappointment compared to the great ribs found elsewhere in NC. Very subpar meat quality as well as preparation. After eating one or two ribs and deciding it was inedible, we told the waitress. My wife was done eating, so we went ahead and asked for the check. The waitress did not offer a refund for the inedible ribs. When we asked, after a significant wait, she said she could not get a hold of the owner and entered a 25% discount on the order. We were running out of time and just took care of the bill and left. \r \r If I remember I will call AMEX and charge back the amount at the end of my billing cycle. We are glad, that as Wake Forest grows, there are more choices for dining. Pros: Location Cons: Service, Food more

Pricey, but I'll go back 4/8/2008

The bad stuff out fo the way first: This place is very expensive for the caliber food they serve. It's not bad at all, but steaks, pasta, and ribs are NOT their specialty. Each time it was poorly seasoned and poorly cooked. Stick to the seafood. My Girfrend and I managed to run up an $80 bill between just the two of us, now that is pricey. However, the service was excellent and I really like the warm, cozy atmosphere. They have some pretty decent specials too. Now I know what a peck of oysters is. A decent once in a while place, that's about all I can afford. more

Good food, Good service 3/16/2008

The seafood omelet was excellent, my husband loves the bacon cheeseburger which he has had twice there! The only problem we had was that the prices on the menu did not match the bill. When we brought this to the attention of the waitress, we expected an apology and a correction. Instead she just kept repeating ""well that is what the computer said"". When my husband ordered his burger she said it came with a side, and when he asked what sides were available, she told him and he chose onion rings. On the bill she charged him extra for onion rings. When we asked about this she said- well it says that on the menu so he should have known. The food was great and up until the bill, the service was great. I would reccomend this place but just make sure that your bill is added up right! more

Best Seafood & Sunday Brunch in Wake Forrest 1/14/2008

I am a Chef vacationing from Baltimore and was looking for a nice enjoyable seafood restaurant. A friend of mines introduce me to Blue Fin's. When I first arrived I ate at several other seafood restaurants and was not impressed until I came upon Blue Fin's. The seafood is fresh the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Then I came to the Sunday Brunch and was overwhelm after eating at Courtney's Restaurant and now eating at Blue Fin's there was no comparison. The prices and reasonable, the portions are plentiful, and they even have a kids menu. I was impressed with the Seafood Omelet, French Toast ( You don""t even need syrup), Steak and eggs and their Homemade Biscuits are to die for. Also don't let me forget the Home fries. Now I see when they say there is nothing better then Southern Cooking and Hospitality. Well you can receive this from Blue Fins. I would have love to relocate and cook for this wonderful restaurant. I will be back. Pros: Food, wait staff, prices, and ambience Cons: Big portions a little to much for one person more

Over priced 12/29/2007

Too pricey for average food... could get better steaks at a chain restaurant. Totally disappointed. more

Good food, nice atmosphere 11/17/2007

We're new to the area, and were just driving around looking for something new to try. The only rule we had was no chains. We found this little place in a plaza. Just a note for anyone trying to find this place with a Garmin GPS - it will take you past it, and say you've arrived in the middle of the raod a quarter mile after you've passed it.\r \r I think my dish was called the Neptune, but I may be wrong. Scalllops, shrimp and crab meat in a white wine sauce. The scallops were very tender, the shrimp perfectly cooked. The crab meat wasn't great by itself, almost more like a stuffing for the shrimp and scallops. It all worked together well, and the sauce was nice. My wife got the shrimp and grits ravioli, which was very good; not overcooked and in a pleasant tomato sauce. The shrimp taste was subtle, but the grits were actually quite nice as a filling.\r \r Warm wheat rolls, and above average side salads. My side dish of red potatoes were well done and nicely seasoned. Pros: Well cooked seafood more

good food but not considerate of nonsmokers 6/29/2007

went for a late nite dinner, 9 pm at night on a weeknight. food was very good. ambience was layed back and relaxed. however so much so that they (the managers) were allowing bar patrons to smoke in the restaurant. for those who do not know, this place is tiny and is just one big room with no separate smoking and nonsmoking sections. the rude smokers who lit up ruined my meal as i had to leave it only half-eaten due to my bad asthma. if that hadn't happened it would have been a pretty good meal. from the few bites i took the food was good. steak cooked just right and crabcakes good too. too bad i couldn't stay to finish it. health conscious people beware, this is a bar/pub type place and is smoky/ Pros: good menu choices, food cooked just right, yummy stakes Cons: allows smoking at bar at nite, no separate nonsmoking section more

good atmosphere in wake forest 5/3/2007

My wife and I recently ate at Blue Fin's with some friends who live in Wake Forest who love Blue Fin's. The atmosphere was nice and the service was good. We started with the spring rolls and they were good. I chose the salmon special with garlic mashed potatoes for dinner and it was also good. I requested blackened salmon, but I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of seasoning. All in all it was a good experience and I will go back. The shrimp and grits ravioli looked very appetizing and I'll probably try that next time. more

Always.....Great Food, Staff, and Owners! 3/7/2007

Absolutely love this place. Not to many good places to eat in wake forest so we always end up at Blue Fins. The staff are good but the Owners (Dave and Jeni) are the best! Lunch, Dinner, Drinks...Always Good! Pros: Atmosphere more

Good Food, Nice People 8/26/2006

I live in Wake Forest, about 4 minutes from Blue Fins, so I have eaten there quite a few times, for both lunch and dinner. I've had one meal that missed the mark, but mostly I have had some very good food there and friendly, down-to-earth service. Check out the Buffalo Chicken Salad for lunch - my husband and I are addicted to it. The turkey ciabatta is really good, and the onion rings are honestly the best I've ever had. Crunchy, not greasy, and the onion doesn't slide out of its coating when you bite into it. I don't even really like onion rings, but I could eat these all day. The southwestern egg rolls on the appetizer menu are also yummy. My friend got a fish dish that was coated in toasted almonds that he raved about - too bad it wasn't a regular menu item! I understand they have live music on certain nights too - one day we're going to check that out, along with their impressive martini menu. Fun stuff. Glad those of us in Wake Forest don't have to drive far to get good food, music, and drinks anymore. Hopefully the success of Blue Fins will encourage other high quality restaurants to migrate north. Pros: Good Food, Local Flavor more

Great place 7/10/2006

I go to Blue fins Bistro every time I can!! Great food always good service (I have only sat at the bar) good value! Everyone should try this place!! Pros: good food, service!! Cons: A little small! more

beware of take out orders 5/31/2006

Check you order before you leave with a takeout order. Only 6 shrimp on shrimp burger, tiny piece of chicken on chicken sandwich and old, wilty lettuce on both. Yuck!! Not worth the $$. Pros: in wake forest more

User review by giggles_n_ryan 4/1/2006

My husband and I go to Blue Fin's sometimes 3-4 times a week. Not only is the food delicious and reasonably-priced, the service is always efficient and very friendly. We have never had a bad meal or service that was less than excellent. I am a picky eater and owner/chef Dave is always accommodating and willing to make custom dishes for me. We love the live music on Saturdays, as well as the patio seating now that spring is here. Blue Fin's is a wonderful change of pace from the typical chain restaurants in the area. After eating there, you will not want to go anywhere else. Pros: Reasonable prices, Fresh quality food, Daily specials more

Just moved and quickly in love 11/21/2005

I just moved to the area not long ago, and have fallen in love with Blue Fin's Bistro. The food was wonderful, and the martinis!! Their descriptions make you want to try them all, I recomend spacing it out over several trips. The staff is always smiling and attentative. I was made to feel like family, and I can't explain how important that is when you move to a new city. I frequent Blue Fin's once, sometimes twice a week, and have yet to have a less than wonderful experience, which is odd considering they haven't even been open a full year yet. I will admit it can get a little busy on the weekends, but believe me it's worth the wait. If you haven't been, you're missing out on a great dining experience. Pros: Price, menu items, specialty drinks more

Among the best Wake Forest hast to offer! 11/18/2005

You will not be disappointed. Ever since my wife and I accidentally discovered this treasure, it has become one of our favorite restaurants to go to in Wake Forest. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food they serve. You will not be disappointed! Pros: food, ambience, service more

The True Story of Blue Fins Bistro 11/2/2005

My party was actually really pleased with all the service. Our party was greeted by a server with a big smile and was really up beat. Then seated in a timely fashion. The food was out to our table in a reasonable time, and was great. (They also have a chef that does all there cheesecakes from scratch! He does personal orders for the holidays.) I would criticize the whole service and experience and give them a 10 out of 10! more
