Best

I breed shah tzu's. Dr.Janes did a c-section, I got to help get the pups breathing, in the operating room. The level of care was excellent. Years ago they saved a dog from parvovi...

My cat almost died and is holding on by a thread from us making the huge mistake of taking him to the Blue Cross. I would urge everyone to please not bring your pet to this anima...

Quality of Care 10/30/2007

I have a 12.5 y/o male part Dalmatian (neutered) that I adopted from the Honolulu Humane Society in Aug 2002. At the adoption, I was informed that my dog had a bad case of heart worms, I educated myself on the disease and shopped around for suitable treatment. What a shock to learn about treatment costs: $700-$1500!\r \r Blue Cross Animal Hospital provided professional treatment at about a third of the cost that other clinics were charging. I was skeptical (you get what you pay for...) but low on funds. So, my dog underwent treatment, completed same, and was back to his old energetic self in no time. He survived treatment in fine form. I also use a military vet for routine care. For the big stuff, I go to Blue Cross Animal Hospital, e.g., rt lower molar extraction, teeth cleaning, dog bite on front paw. and so forth. \r \r Yes, the building is old and could use some new paint. The waiting room is cramped with shelving for pet products leaving room for only a few seats. Yet, the waiting roo more

Good place, I liked it 9/25/2006

I went to Blue Cross after adopting a pitbull mix puppy from the Humane Society(you get a free check-up when adopting a pet) I had read the previous reviews and wasn't expecting much. I'm not sure if it was the low expectation but I really liked the place. It wasn't the most updated building but the staff was friendly. They were booked solid when I called but was told that I could come in on a walk-in basis. I was there for a total of 2 hours which isn't great but at least I didn't have to wait till October to get an appointment. The Vet was nice enough and smiled at my dog and said he was cute. I'm a first time dog owner and I felt comfortable asking questions and got the answers I was looking for. I also got a free puppy pack with a food sample and info about pet insurance with a 2 month free offer from Imas.(which I took advantage of) Overall I would say I was very satisfied with my visit and will be taking my dog there for his other needs. PROS: friendly staff, cheap CONS: long wa more

Experienced Vet 5/15/2006

Even though this clinic is not in a tip top shape, it is good value for our money. I have once spent $500+ at other vet clinic and ended up with no result on my dog skin problem but when I brought my dog to blue cross, and with one diagnose, his skin problem goes away immediately and just ended up spending $18 + a bottle of shampoo. \r \r I know the vet is not what I would call friendly, but in order not to pass the overhead to its client, it has to eliminate any additional assistant in the room when it is not needed. If you are looking for a first class service in a vet office, I would not recommend it but if you are interested to get the result fast, Blue Cross will be the place to go. PROS: Efficient, and value for your money CONS: Not exactly clean and high turnover more

Unfriendly Vets and Dirty Clinic 10/3/2005

I had the worst experience at this clinic! I took my pomeranian here to get her microchip since Blue Cross was participating in the program. Big Mistake! As I entered, yes the place definitely need some upgrading. The receptionsts were okay, nothing spectacular. Which is not a big criteria. When it was my turn, the vet did not even acknowledge me. He was an old grumpy man. My dog is a cutie and the vet didn't even look at her twice. He went straight to injecting her and she struggled. He got mad and asked why I did not hold her down. I said "I didn't know I had to!" I had my heart broken that day because my dog was in pain and she screamed soooo loud because the second injection was so rough on her. The lady outside later told me that she thought it was a parrot's scream. =( I would never go back there for my dog again. I have heard nightmare stories from my friends too. I'm sorry but first impression is the most important and I am scared away for life. They do, more

Needs a Makeover 8/31/2005

This is a small and old looking Animal Hospital. Although the prices are low here (probably because overhead is low), this hospital needs to be moved to a better building and location. The service is good but the building and office needs to be renovated! more
