Great happy hour and sparkling wine... I try to come as much as possible.. though traffic is insane sometimes more

Some of the best steak I've ever had. 9/20/2012

Some of the best steak I've ever had. And the pop-overs are to die for. more

good food. good times 9/21/2011

we ate here last night. had the oysters and then a steak. oysters i had were great. steak could have been a little better, but might be b/c of the sauce I ordered. overall pretty good experience. not the best steak i've had. more

Great meal at BLT 12/2/2009

the popover buns were awesome, food was excellent although portions were quite small. Jalapeno mash potatoes side is for one, not for 3 or 4. Fries and onions rings were great.Tuna tartar was delicious. Pros: Terrific food Cons: Service was a little slow, was a long dinner more

Great steaks and a fun scene 12/2/2009

Fun place for a night out on the town. Steaks were great...mine came perfectly prepared. Appetizers and main courses were generous, but the side dishes were remarkably small (especially mashed potatoes). Menu is quite large with lots of fun items on it...I'd go again! Pros: good food, attentive management Cons: noisy, sides are small more

Sophisticated food! 12/2/2009

This is a great place for eating steak and enjoying original dishes. Pros: Original menu with a strong French flavor Cons: Service a little slow and loud room more

BLT - on the short list of great steaks in LA 11/18/2009

I had dinner at BLT last night and it was a fantastic experience! I'm still gorged and very happy. I started off with a vodka cocktail while waiting at the bar for the table (vanilla vodka / lavendar soda) which was different and delicious. The bartender was very nice and made it for me without sugar. Since it was a party of eight, we ordered a variety of appetizers, sides and entrees. I was thrilled to be able to try so many items from their menu. The popovers were warm, tender and buttery. A great start! The stand out appetizers were the double cut bacon and burrata. The most memorable side dishes were the creamy spinach, potato gratin and onion rings. For entrees we ordered the porterhouse for 2 (very good), new york steak (very good), bone-in rib eye with bone marrow (very, very good), a lamb steak that was a special (excellent) and, my personal favorite, the short ribs. They were truly outstanding - the best thing on the menu. I wish we could have tried dessert but we were just too full and had to be on our ways. Our waiter brought us out warm dollops of (what I think was) chocolate chip cookie dough with the check and we were all over the moon. What a great meal! I'm now a Laurent Tourondel fan and I'll be buying his BLT cookbook for that short ribs recipe, among others. Pros: uhh...steak! more

Nice Ambiance - Weak Service 8/17/2009

The place is nice, food is good but service needs help! I was there with three of my friends for dinner. We all loved the food but felt uncomfortable sitting there long because some of the employees kept staring at us - including the gentleman wearing a suit (maybe the manager?! Not sure) that marched in front of our table every couple of minutes smiling at us. Not sure I will be back! Pros: Nice Ambiance - Good food Cons: Service - employees more

Deelicious and wonderful staff! 4/9/2009

Went there recently and I thought it was amazing. It was pricey however you do get lots of little goodies from the chef along the way - chicken liver pate(superb), popovers (cheesy yorkshire puddings), and the most amazing molten chocolate cookie/brownie things PLUS you get a goody bag of cakes to take home with you! I had the 8oz filet which was cooked to perfection and the veg sides, although pricey were yummy. To start I may add I had the pea soup which was so flavoursome and came with bits of bacon ahh was sooo good. Everyone raved about their meal esp the halibut poached in olive oil which was a special. Recommend it highly, especially for a special occasion and the waiting staff were all lovely. Pros: Pea soup divine Cons: bit pricey but worth it. more

2nd visit... 1/27/2009

Much improved. Went to BLT last Saturday night. I had a previous visit over the summer, with a so-so experience. My husband and I decided to try it again. Not in the mood for steak, I opted for the veal chop. It was delicious. My husband had the Ribeye, cooked to perfection. We had root vegetables and creamed spinach both seasoned perfectly. The made-to-order doughnuts were so good, we would come back just for them! Pros: food Cons: traffic on sunset more

Maybe if you enjoy cold $80 steak 1/15/2009

My girlfriend had just received her annual bonus, so we decided to splurge and eat and one of those ""nice restaurants"". BLT Steak had just opened, and we had heard about it from a friend who had eaten at the one in NYC. So we decided to give it a shot. BLT Steak is part of the Sunset Plaza, which if you're not familiar with the area, means free parking! You don't need to use the valet (in fact, I encourage you not to if you eat here since you'll need the extra $$) -- you can park in the Sunset Plaza parking lot for free. So apparently BLT is known for their popovers. They give them to you and say ""this is what we're known for"". They even come with a recipe card so you can go home and try making them yourself. They were ok, nothing to write home about. We ordered the porterhouse steak for two, which was $88 (thought we'd save a little by splitting). They brought it out in a room-temperature cast iron pan with a huge slab of butter on top of it. The only problem was that the butter wasn't melting...at ALL! We each took a couple bites and decided to send it back. Note: I NEVER send things back! They apologized and brought it back out, but the damage had been done. It looked and tasted like they had reheated it in the microwave or something. Anyway, I figure if I pay $88 for steak, the butter better darn be melting by the time I get it. Good steakhouses know how to do it right. A couple weeks later I went to Outback Steakhouse and it was 100 times better (and cheaper). And from now on, for those special occasions, I'll stick with Ruth's Chris or Mastro's thank you. Pros: Free parking Cons: Cold steak, expensive more

Try out the bacon appetizer!! 11/19/2008

BLT has a couple of spots around the country and this one matches all the rest. It's the place to be seen or to see people. If you're in LA and up on Sunset Blvd, give a shot. Pros: Great food and very trendy spot. Cons: Pretty expensive.. more

A Steakhouse with So-So Steaks but Good Side Dishes 10/13/2008

Good ambience & wait staff. Don't like the fact that they make you wait for your ENTIRE party to arrive before they seat you. The chicken liver spread was tastey and a good way to start your meal. The best were the free popovers they give you. It's a cross between a bread and a souffle. YUM!!! Pros: Ambience, Waitstaff & Side Dishes Cons: Entree more

Not good.... 9/20/2008

Very disappointing. New York Strip took an hour and arrived totally cold and tastless, out of the 6 of us three had to send the steaks back. Manager claimed to be ""new"" which really doesn't remedy the situation! Won't be going back, don't suggest you try it. Waste of money. more

DISAPPOINTING BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE 9/11/2008

We ended up at BLD instead of BLT. When we called to fix our mistake, BLT was very pleasant over the phone and encouraged us to come right over. We did and were seated immediately. We had a very attentive waiter with wonderful information about the BLT menu. However, the steaks were extremely disappointing! Think tender ""HOT"" meat! Utterly tasteless. We ordered the Rib Eye steak @ $45 and also the Braised Short Ribs both meats were tasteless! But tender! Crab Cake tasted like potato salad no crab taste. The tuna tartare however was pretty good. And that wedge salad was sub standard. All and all it was a pretty disappointing experience and we all wished we had stayed at BLD and given them a try especially since they boast a completely fresh menu daily. The Birthday Girl! was pretty disappointed with the meal and If you want a truly wonderful steak restaurant experience, MASTRO'S is the place to try! Needless to say, we won't go to BLT again. Pros: Good Service - Very pretty restaurant Cons: Bad Food - Too Expensive more

nice service, steaks need improvement 8/22/2008

I was somewhat irked when I called for an 8pm reservation and was told they could take my party at 8:15 and then arrived at the restaurant to find a number of empty tables at 8:15 We were seated right away, and had a very attentive waiter who was helpful but not intrusive and showed up when you wanted him. The complimentary chicken liver pate with little toasts was flavorful and generous, and they looked to have solved the water issue noted by another reviewer as we were offered ice water straight off (I dont know whether we were charged for the ice water as another reviewer noted). The popovers with butter and sea salt were excellent . I shared the the porterhouse steak for two, which we asked to have cooked on the rare side of medium rare, and it showed up light pink but closer to medium. While it had a nice crusty outer coating, the steak itself was devoid of flavor and somewhat chewy (although my partner liked it), and for $85 I expected much better. The sides were good, but you come to a steak restaurant for the steak, and that was a disappointment. The restaurant has really got to get that right before people will want to return to pay these prices. more

BLT Steak 8/18/2008

BLT Steak. Completely impressed by the redo of the room! Service attentive and not overbearing with the exception of one snob waiter moment: the oh-so-5-years-ago question of water was posed, still or sparking? i gave my usual response of, is your tap water filtered? The answer was, Yes, it is but it will cost each you of $4. WTF? Really? Pros: the room and the food Cons: the water! more

a good first-time experience.. 8/16/2008

after reading some pretty horrible reviews, i was feeling a bit unenthusiastic about our upcoming dinner at BLT. but, i was pleasantly surprised...it was a thursday night and a bit busy (8:15pm) when we arrived but we were seated right away. our server was pleasant and professional; a bit stiff, but not pretentious. he was attentive without being annoying and the other staff worked well as a team. Pros: appetizers, ambience, service more

Just so-so 7/25/2008

The steaks here were surprisingly average. Not very flavorful ribeye which was very disappointing. The salads were so-so too, and the drinks were nothing special. more
