Thanks for reminding me to get everything in writing before allowing any work to be done! I was told roughly $300 for 1.5 hours of work and parts. Your employee completed the job in well under an hour and still quoted me the same price even when he admitted he worked for 30 minutes less than he quoted. If an hourly rate applies then it should reflect in the final cost! I’m sure if it took two hours the bill would have gone up. In addition, nobody called me 30 minutes prior to arrival. The plumber said “the office usually handles that.”\r After I took time to call the office, almost $70 came off the bill. more

I had several plumbing problems. Art Brant came out right on time. He was prompt, professional, and responsible. He took the time to explain what was happening and what could be done to fix it. He didn't insist on doing the most expensive thing, instead he went over my options and let me decide. Then, when one item continued to act up the next day, Matt Nealey returned first thing to address the problem with no service charge (I did have to pay cost of parts, of course). He also identified another larger problem that needed correcting, and corrected it before it became serious. Thank goodness! The issue Matt discovered was with the main water valve. It was failing, and only a matter of time before much more serious problems developed. Matt worked outside in the blazing sun for over an hour to solve the problem. He could have just put a ""band-aid"" on it, but he took the time to do what needed to be done. If that weren't enough, after he was done outside (a miserable job, I can tell you) Matt went all around the house with me to answer any questions and make sure everything was working properly. Not an easy task after all the work he had done. A real professional! Great value, great service, and great people. I've used Bill Howe Plumbing for years. more

When I sprang another leak under my toilet I knew it was finally time to get all of my plumbing problems solved. I had some long overdue repairs to my bathrooms and kitchen that needed attention and my water heater was barely putting out any hot water anymore. I had my Dad coming to San Diego for a visit in 4 days so I had to get things taken care of right away. I did my research on Yelp and decided to have Bill Howe Plumbing come out to give me a quote as well as the other highly reviewed plumbing company on Yelp. I had the great fortune of having Rick Diamond come to my home to give me a quote for Howe Plumbing. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism from the moment he entered my home. On went the shoe covers and we began the tour of the many, many things that needed fixing. I was very impressed that he looked at what I explained needed fixing and then thoroughly explained all of my options with regards to possible repairs. He provided me with the knowledge that I needed, to make good decisions as to how to proceed within my budget. We went through all of my rooms and he addressed each repair individually and offered suggestions which were extremely helpful to me. In the end I had my water heater replaced with copper supply lines, had a new kitchen faucet installed, a new garbage disposal unit installed, had shut off valves and risers installed on all the plumbing fixtures, new tub plugs installed, as well as new toilet flappers on my toilets. After coming to my home to see the proposed work, he promised to have my estimate ready to go that same day, and as promised, he provided me with a typewritten estimate that very same day. I had the ""other"" company come over to quote the same work and my experience was vastly different. Contrary to my experience with Rick, they had me writing down the pricing with my pen in hand and only offered me ""ballpark"" figures for low and high end pricing. The estimate that was given by the other company was vague and overpriced. It was immediately obvious to me that the service person from the competing company did not have the knowledge and professionalism that Rick Diamond so obviously had. I decided to go with Howe Plumbing and I am very, very glad that I did. We arranged for the repair to be done two days later since I had to notify my HOA that the water would need to be turned off. On the designated day, Rick showed up on time and began the extensive work that we had scheduled. He did a wonderful job installing my garbage disposal unit and new kitchen faucet. He even scraped off the calcium that had built up on my sink over many years so that my faucet and sink look like new. He did an amazing job installing 8 shut off valves throughout my condo under tight time constraints, and efficiently installed my water heater with safety straps. I was impressed with the pride that Rick takes in the work that he does and in the quality of his work. With Rick, you get what you pay for - and more! He is five stars all the way --- I'd give him an even higher rating if I could. Whether it was the smallest repair or the biggest repair, he gave each project his full attention and did a beautiful job. I just can't say enough about how wonderful he was to work with. My experience with Howe Plumbing and Rick Diamond in particular was great. I will definitely use this company again for all of my plumbing needs. It is nice to know that there are professionals out there that take pride in their work and deliver what they promise....and more. Rick Diamond arrived ahead of when promised, was courteous and professional. He assessed the situation and quoted $550 for the job. He had to leave to get parts to complete the tasks at hand, took care of an added situation, and, in the end, deducted the travel-time needed to get those parts. The total cost of the entire job was $100 less than originally quoted. I know I won't always need a plumber. I also know the final cost won't always be lower than quoted, but, Rick Diamond did Bill Howe Plumbing proud. He did me proud. I originally hired Bill Howe plumbing to run gas to my kitchen for a new range. I could not be more impressed with their customer service! Jose and Antonio did an incredible job with the drywall repairs, seamlessly restoring everything with the existing walls. They even removed the remaining popcorn on the untouched ceiling, and textured it all so it would match. They did that at no extra cost!! Great guys! Their boss, Derick was the most pleasant contractor I've ever had the pleasure to deal with! He made sure to keep me in the loop the whole time, and walked me through everything. When I called at the end of the job, he made an appointment right away with me to ensure my satisfaction! These guys are going to be my go-to contractors, and they should really be yours! I am tremendously impressed by Mike Mason and apprentice Shawn of Bill Howe Plumbing. Scheduling a same day service call was a breeze — thanks to a wonderfully helpful scheduler — and Mike and Shawn came — right on time — to a job at my mom's house in Del Cerro. Their work matched the estimate, they were kind enough to provide a senior citizen's discount to my mom, they completed the work with dispatch and they were generous enough to spend time educating us about an area drain problem we've had for a decade. Mike's smarts, experience and efficiency, and the warmth of both Mike and Shawn ensure that all of our future work will be done by Bill Howe, hopefully by Mike and Shawn. In fact, Mike was so informative about the area drain problem that we've just requested that he return to the house today to undertake the drain clearing we've put off all these years. Both Mike and Shawn mentioned how happy they are to work for a family-owned company, which was exactly why we called Bill Howe in the first place. These guys rock and they contribute to the good name of the company in the community. The dude from Bill Howe had to jump on the roof and use some sort of gyrating tool to free the junk that had built up in the pipes. Obviously, I could have plunged and plunged for hours, and I still wouldn't have been able to fix that sh**s myself... so I guess I'm pretty stoked they were on hand to resolve my issue at 7:30pm. more

I had to call Nate Thorson out for a job at my house at 9pm. He had a great attitude and was good for a joke. He had already had a really hard day and yet he was professional and quick. When we have an emergency their response time is usually under one hour. When they arrive on a property they are quick to resolve our issues and to make suggestions for improvements. The people on the staff that work in the office are hard working; when something needs to be done and followed up on right away, I can always count on them to respond in a timely manner. The purpose of this letter is to invite your attention to the superior quality, professional proficiency and individual integrity of your employee or sub-contractor Mr. Brian Rice. Four times in the past month or so it was our pleasure to have enjoyed the services of Mr. Rice as he tended to plumbing and air conditioning problems in our town house and later our principle residence in Poway. On the first occasion Mr. Rice was by chance dispatched to investigate and repair a continuous water leak in our town house. On arrival he investigated the problem thoroughly before apprising us of the nature of the problem, the extent of probable repairs and likely costs. It turned out that his analysis was correct and the repairs were made expeditiously the following day. On a second occasion we detected a dripping leak in a lower floor half bathroom but could not isolate the source. We called BILL HOWE and requested the services of Brian Rice since he was already familiar with the plumbing arrangement of the house. He was dispatched to assist us on the occasion of his first availability, localized the source of the problem and corrected the issue promptly. On the other two occasions Mr. Rice was specifically requested by name to correct an air conditioning at our principal residence in Poway. Please convey our appreciation and thanks to Mr. Brian Rice for his services noting that a City employee who inspected the completed under-the-slab leak by-pass work in response to our request for a water bill adjustment commented most favorably on the quality of the plumbing work Mr. Rice had accomplished.
