We had Best Heating & Cooling at our rental property over the weekend to fix our furnace. The man's name was Mike who sowed up on Sunday. I expected him to charge extra because it was Sunday but he laughed and said "" your furnace doesn't know what day it is"" from that moment I knew I called the right guy. Mike was just such a pleasure to work with from begining to end. I am so happy my wife told me about this company. It is so hard to find a good reliable heating and cooling company these days because everyone seems to be tight with their money so most of these guys charge extra just to make a buck but Mike told us he would rather make more bucks later. He was a bright guy and we will tell all of our friends to call Him too!!!!! Best Heating & Cooling made a good decision when they hired Mike to represent their company. more

I had Mike from Best Heating & Cooling come out to my house.?I called and the girl on the phone said she would send Mike to my house in about 45 minutes. I was shocked when he showed up on time. You know what I'm talking about usually you wait for these heating and cooling guys forever. But Mike was early so when he got to my house I asked him how much it was going to cost me for him to just look at my furnace because the last guy told me I owed him $85 just so that he could tell me I needed a new unit. Mike said that he was going to give me a free Estimate and he would let me know what is going on with my furnace. ?Well Mike went down in my basement where the Furnace is located and he came back up a few minutes later. I was waiting for him to tell me I needed a new unit but he said all I needed was a switch and a good cleaning. He did a great job and I will call Best Heating and Cooling next time first. Thanks Mike more

\r We called Best Heating & Cooling to service our Furnace. Mike from Best Heating & Cooling was the guy who showed up and looked at our Furnace. We called Best because their company serviced our area. When we called the lady one the phone was very polite and she spoke with a smile. She told us she could get a Technician over to our house in an hour. I was thinking yea right but wouldn't you know Mike showed up 45 minutes after I called Best Heating & Cooling. He introduced him self as Mike and he let us know that he would be giving us a free Estimate. At this time I'm thinking that sure he will give me a free Estimate but he will charge me for it some where else right. Well I was wrong again. We have called different heating and cooling companies from time to time and we were never able to match price with customer service so we were never able to find a heating and cooling company that we would call our go to guys. Little did Mike know at the time but I'm also a landlord so I was actually interviewing Mike to be my go to guy for my many different properties that I own in the DuPage County area. As you can see by my 5 star rating that he passed. Mike serviced my Furnace and he explained to me that all I needed to do is have my unit cleaned out and then it should work properly for me. Again I'm thinking ok I will agree to the cleaning but how much will this cost me and will this really be all I need or is he just setting me up for more charges? Again Mike surprised me he spent about 45 minutes cleaning out my furnace and he put in a new filter and it only cost me $40. My furnace works great now and I called him to service one of my other properties. Again Mike showed up on time and he didn't inconvenience me by making me go to the property. Mike sent me an invoice with a link to paypa to pay for his services for that day. At this property I have two Furnaces that I asked him to clean and this time Mike from Best Heating & Cooling gave me a discount for the two units. I was expecting to pay $80 but Mike said because I was a repeat customer and because I had 2 furnaces he would only charge me $70. I couldn't believe it. I have called other heating and cooling companies before and they charged me abot $100 just to clean one Furnace and here this company only charged me $70 for two furnaces. This was the best experience I have ever had with any contractor and I have revered him to my friends and family. The lady on the phone told me that they have a referral program so if I refer someone to them they will give me 10% off my next service. Again they surpassed my expectations. Good job Best Heating & Cooling for hiring such a polite and honest guy to go out in the community and represent your company. I will deffinatley call Mike at Best Heating & Cooling for all of my heating & cooling needs in the future. If I could give them a rating here it would be 10 stars. Thanks Mike your the Best. more

Furnace Nightmare 1/16/2012

My wife and I paid for the installation of a furnace from Best Heating. According to the installer, Steve, the installation included reinforcement of the duct work that inevitably would come ""crashing down"" as they removed the old furnace. We were told the ducts were held together loosely with a few screws. Steve assured that the furnace and duct work would be installed correctly. After the installation, Steve explained that the furnace room was extremely warm due to insufficient exhaust ventilation. He supposedly inspected the rooftop vents and took video that showed wasp nests and debris blocking airflow, and that repair would be necessary to keep the furnace room temps regulated. He explained that the furnace was switching on and off frequently because of the safety limit switch overheating. However, we were told that the old furnace wash shutting on and off due to it being undersized (one of the main reasons for us to replace the existing furnace). A day after the installation I heard extremely loud rattling and attempted to contact the owner of Best Heating. I emailed and left several voicemail messages, but nobody called back. After many calls, the receptionist finally answered. She told me I needed to schedule an appointment. Steve returned with a partner to look into the rattling. I explained I found that a metal adhesive used to seal the vents had blown off and was smacking the ductwork, causing a loud metallic banging noise. Steve apologized profusely for not calling back. He reeked of alcohol and cigarettes, and would not stop apologizing. I explained that the disconnected adhesive left a huge hole in the side of the duct (about 5” Diameter). The heat and air was billowing from that area. Steve said this was the old adhesive and he would reinforce it. Steve did not take the old adhesive out, but simply patched the hole with new adhesive. I asked for the video of the wasp nests in the rooftop vents, and Steve said he was going to take another video. I said to send the one he already had. More apologies and promises. Steve never followed up. On Jan 6 the new furnace made a very loud buzzing noise and went out. My wife called Best Heating. A groggy woman answered who almost forgot to take down my wife's contact info before hanging up. She said nobody could get there until 4pm, but my wife said that was unacceptable, the receptionist said she would see what they can do and hung up. She never called back. My wife called Steve, who said he would be there at 10am. He never showed. My wife examined the furnace room and found a HUGE uncovered gap (approx 3’L x 6”W) in the back wall. Hot air was billowing out of the gap, overheating the room and setting off the limit switch that eventually shut the furnace down completely. I called Best Heating and told them I was livid. I demanded to speak with the owner; who never called back. Another repairman showed up around 3pm. He said the installer ""missed"" that area when installing, and he taped a sheet metal flap over the gap in an attempt to patch the hole. That night, the furnace buzzed loudly, rattled, vibrated, and at the end of each cycle there was a loud metal on metal slamming sound. After investigating the buzzing noise, I found the old ductwork adhesive sealing the furnace and the duct came loose and was buzzing as the air blew out of the cracks. I also found that the sheet metal came loose and would slam home at the end of the cycle. The furnace cycled on and off every four minutes. Each time a furnace ignites, it uses the same amount of BTUs as baking a cake. So, in essence, the furnace is burning the gas energy equivalent of a cake every four minutes. I called Best Heating with an escalating rant demanding they remove and reinstall the entire furnace, that the owner himself does it, and that they do not send amateur lackey repairmen reeking of booze. I called again Monday, no response. This has been a nightmare. I contacted my lawyer and the BBB. more

Theft and fraud 9/20/2011

My name is Alan Gyssler. We had a horrible experience with Best Heating & Cooling (dba Pure Air Heating & Cooling) in which they incorrectly installed our new condenser and stole our A-coil! We had to shell out thousands of dollars to correct the problem with other companies, and had to get Carrier involved, too! We've reported them to the BBB and the Illinois State Attorney General's office. Our full story can be read at Insider Pages (dot) com, by searching Pure Aire Heating & Cooling in Wheaton, IL. more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!! Sent unlicensed repair person out! 7/20/2011

Was told I need a new furnance by service guy. Had it installed and then I find out the guy that was installing the furnace was not licensed. The installation was done poorly. I don't know much about hvac but I could tell that it was a horrible installation job. Because of the poor installation, they messed up my ac. He repeatedly told me not to worry about the sound that was coming out of my ac. I called and complained about my ac not working and again the owner sent the same guy out. He kept making excuses that he need a certain tool and came back twice and never fixed anything. Because the ac had leaked into my furnace, I had to have the motherboard replaced. Again, the same unlicensed guy came out and replaced it, then promised to come back out to fix my ac and never did. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt called last week (mind you that this has been almost a year and a half) and set up and appointment and noone ever showed up. I thought I had the wrong day and waited for the following week. Once again noone came out. Then called and asked why noone showed up. She apologized and promised me that someone would come out. Next day, again noone showed up. That's three days, I've left work early to meet with them. EVEN though they called to confirm my appointment that day. Called and had a few words with the lady that answers the phone. Come to find out the owner didn't want to come out because he didn't want to do any ""free work"". ""Free work"" I wasn't looking for free work and not once did I mention anything about the poor installation that was done. So, they knew what was going on. She promised he would call and still nothing yet, it's been 5 days. I was told to call the guy who installed the furnance! Shouldn't the company be responsible for repairs??? You expect me to hunt down your ex-employee to fix his poor work??? She went on to tell me they are in litigation in court. Really? I can see why! NEVER use them!! EVER! The sad thing is that I recommended them to 4 other people luckily they got the owner and not the unlicensed person they sent me! I now have to find someone to REINSTALL my furnace. Which is not cheap. Did I mention that it's extremely hot in Chicago right now and my ac is not working!! =( I've had a few service guys quote me a price to have it reinstalled. NOT CHEAP!!!!! These people are reputable hvac people and are amazed at the poor installation they did and the service I received. I found them on Service Magic thinking I was going to get someone trust worthy! I will never use Service Magic or anyone who isn't recommended by a friend!!!!! OR EVEN recommend them to anyone!! I am going to post this on every site possible, to warn people. Noone should be treated like this!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!!!!! more
