Terrible service and bad attitude from front desk 4/10/2012

Tried to sell me 2500 worth of parts and labor on my e46 and I didnt need any of it. Went in for simple oil change, got a call back by some rude man named Mike, the owner, telling me to just bring the car to a junk yard. Then when I went to pick it up the blonde counter girl was rude as well, she has that annoying british accent and was too busy with her cheeseburger and fries to promptly accept my payment so I could get my car out of there. Never again. why cant you get honest service from this place? All the positive reviews are obviously made up by the company itself. more

Reasonable prices 8/1/2011

I've had two cars serviced by Mike over the years. I'm not one to trade in my cars, I keep them for a long time. He's always done a good job of keeping them up. He's a decent guy that does good work and has reasonable prices. He also has a good staff and his mechanics are exceptional. I plan to keep going. more

Honest Mechanics 7/28/2011

I went to Berkeley Motor Works to get a tune up on my car. It were inexpensive and they were very friendly. They are knowledgeable about their craft and treated me with honesty. Thank you guys for being so nice. more

Check Engine Light 7/28/2011

My check engine light came on a couple of days ago and I haven't fixed it yet because I thought that I would just go off. When it didn't I took it to Berkeley Motor Works and they were able to tell me the nothing was wrong with the engine and they reset the light for me. I wanted to thank them for helping me. more

I really like this place. I have been coming here for a couple of years and although the front office figure changed, they are still as good as ever with customer service. All I can say is my car must be seen by these guys whenever I need repairs done or else. more

I have recently purchased a 1974 BMW and got a recommendation to bring it to Berkeley Motor Works to have it checked out. They have been just great from the first inspection to all of my visits so far, from getting parts, fixing it up in a timely fashion, changing the seat belts in the back due to a special request. They offer great friendly service and my mechanic seems to have grown up on cars like mine. I am really happy that I found them as it made my decision to buy my car a lot easier. I love having it. I highly recommend them for my car and I feel very well taken care of! more

I take my 535i from SF to B.M.W and wouldn't even think of going somewhere else! He is incredibly honest, hardworking and knowledgeable. My son also took his older BMW 2000 after spending $4,000 at another mechanic that never fixed the problem. Only someone that really knows BMWs could of find the problem and fix it properly. more

Fantastic 6/17/2011

Over the last four years, my total experience with Berkeley Motor Works is a 10. In fact, 5 times 5 will do nicely. I bought an '86 BMW about 4 years ago, and a friend recommended I go to them. They were right around the corner from where I was living at the time, so I went to them. They were able to tell me what was wrong, and whether it could wait or if it could not be put off.\r \r They've always really worked with me on the service. I've never gotten the runaround from them. They've really gone out of their way to take care of me in any service situation. The end all, be all is this: I can't say enough good things about Berkeley Motor Works. more

Highly Recommended 6/17/2011

A couple weeks ago I took my car because of a coolant leak. The staff is very friendly, being my second time going to them i was confident that my car was in good hands.They found the problem and were very prompt in letting me know what was wrong with my car, that same day I got my car back and problem solved. I would highly recommend this shop because they know what they're doing unlike the dealers who have rookies working on these expensive cars and misdiagnosing problems. more

Wonderful 6/9/2011

There is nothing like having a 10 year old car with 140k miles that drives like it just left the lot. :)\r I come here for my 60 day oil changes (that's 5k miles in 60 days) and they get me in and out quickly, and early too. There's a sitting room (with Grandma's old comfy couch) and WiFi if you need it for surfing or working. I've brought my own parts in too before which is great considering the wonders of the interwebs and pricing. more

Berkeley Motor Works knows their stuff! 6/8/2011

Berkeley Motor Works handles repairs in a very timely fashion. They are able to communicate in a layman's sense to explain what's going on with your call. They make recommendations and suggestions and lay out different options to their customers.\r \r The staff is warm and professional. The facility is clean, including the bathroom which is very important to anyone. The owner is very conscientious of his customers and their vehicles. He keeps himself on the pulse of things specifically to help him out in the work he does. He's a very nice and knowledgeable guy. more

I've been dealing with Berkeley Motor Works for 20 some odd years now, and I've had no problems with them at all. I have two cars that I've been bringing to them, and I've had nothing but good things every time I've brought a car in to them. They've always been forthcoming about what needed to be done and how much it was going to cost. They're also a lot cheaper than going to the dealer, and I've never had a problem with the work either. I've never had to bring it back in a second time after going in. Berkeley Motor Works goes out of their way to make sure things work, sometimes not even charging me for it. more

Friendly and helpful. 6/3/2011

I've been going to Berkeley Motor Works for 6 years, since my car was a year old and I decided the "free" BMW service was not sufficient. Mike knows BMW's inside and out and he and his staff are friendly and helpful. If you want a ride to BART, they'll take you. If you need the car done by 3, they'll do it. It is so nice these days to talk to someone who knows cars and knows the work being done on your car, rather than someone who is two people removed from a mechanic. Mike is good at advising you of needed repairs and repairs that can wait. I've never had any problem with either work done on my car or on any bill. If I did, I'm sure Mike would address it. more
