Benjamin Franklin installed my homes hot water heaters & HVAC units. They delivered great service at a fair price. This visit was to check the operations of our units. I was very pleased with the service; in particular, Barry (technician) was amazing. My son enjoys following technicians around, and Barry didnt seem to mind having a shadow on his visit today and he explained everything to my seven year old as he went along. Bill showed up on time literally in the middle of the night and did an excellent job installing our faucet on an emergency basis. When I called, I was told of the "trip" charge (which was acceptable considering it was so late at night) but was told that I could not be given a price for the work until he arrived as his price book was in the shop. When I was given the price, I was already into Ben Franklin for the trip charge which, I found out, was in addition to the outrageous charge to install a faucet. To top it off, they actually add a $3 fuel charge over the trip charge. It's a shame because Bill did an efficient and great job, left the place clean and is a very nice man. more

I was very pleased with the work. The plumber was knowledgable, friendly, neat and efficient. Someone from the company called me right back even though it was after midnight. He was honest and told me it could wait until the next business day instead of taking advantage of a higher cost for weekend, night hours. The plumber showed up on time and did an excellent job. Bill assessed the piping and determined that the pressure valve was in need of replacement, and he explained why this would be necessary. He also informed that it would be advisable to replace the valve at the same time as installing the EasyWater unit. All work was performed sooner than I had expected. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Pompton Lakes, NJ is the WORST plumbing company in the state. They never showed up for the first visit, raised their price from $5K to $11K on the second visit which they were late for, and on the third visit showed up at 4pm for an 11am appointment and then said it was too late in the day to start the job. They left us late on a Friday high and dry with no bathroom in our one bathroom household. To make matters worse, when I called and spoke with the owner Wayne, he advised me that his employees have lives after 5pm. First off, that's not the answer you give a client that spent $11K with you 3 months prior. Secondly, I didn't ask his guy to do the job after 5pm. I asked his guy to do the job at 11am. When they show up the workmanship is good. Unfortunately, they hardly ever show up when they are supposed to. The "punctual plumber" is a nice gimmicky slogan, but that's all it is -- a gimmick. You don't get anything if they are late. You just get stuck without a bathroom at 5pm on a Friday after taking the day off from work and waiting all day for them. If you can find another plumber use them instead. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is not worth the headache. more

I used to use this company as I thought the value for the service was a good balance. However they came over today to snake my kitchen drain and quoted me a price which was 50 higher than last fall. When I disputed it they were willing to drop the price a little but still charging me the emergency visit price (it was not an emergency call). I don't know what economy they live in but that sort of increase is unprecedented. I sent them away. They have lost a customer for good. more
