Food is delish!

I must say, it is a treat when my family and I go to Bengal tiger for our family dinners. They have been very caring the service has always been excellent. However our recent trip...

They don't know what is in their food 7/7/2011

Posting this all over the internet to help other people from suffering my fate! 0 STARS. 0 STARS. If you care about what is in your food, don't go to this restaurant. They don't know what is in their food, and they will mislead you and have you eat things that you can't eat. If you have any kind of allergy or you are vegan DO NOT eat here. I repeat, they do not know what is in their food. Repeatedly told me that some food was OK to eat, and then one day I found out I was eating disgusting dairy sludge for the past year. Disgusting, unacceptable, I will NEVER eat here again. I literally sobbed for hours knowing that I had eaten this crap as veganism is very important to me, it really distressed me in a serious way. I am going to be writing a letter to the manager and I even wish I could legally peruse them in this matter. If you have no dietary restrictions this place is probably pretty good, but just be warned how they treat their other customers. I just HATE it when restaurants don't know what's in their food, it should be illegal. Take advice from me and always say you have a dairy/egg allergy if you're vegan, although I wouldn't put it past these idiots to even take that seriously. Have fun not knowing what's in your food! more

my trip to india 12/9/2010

OMG, aside from the fact that i love the Mango chops. The Samossa and the Tandori chicken made a huge immpression on my two picky eatters. The waitress let them look in the kitchen to see the tandori oven. Bengal tiger is our family resturant. If we had it our way we would be their everyday, I find my self going their just to get the mouth watering garlic basil naan, that rarely makes it home. yummm. The service is wonderful, the staff greets us as if we were family. more

I'm in love! 11/21/2010

I love, love, love this restaurant! My gf and I go here at least twice a month for the past 3 years. Their service is excellent, and food is sublime. I've never tasted anything stale or bland on their menu; everything has always been fresh and flavorful. \r \r I thank Bengal Tiger for making my food life so much more colorful and delicious. I'm no longer just a meat and potatoes guy. Keep it up, B.T., you guys rock! more

Poor service, terrible food 12/12/2009

I decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews about it. I made the trip to the restaurant for dinner one week night. Once at the restaurant, it took about 7 minutes to be seated, even though the place was virtually empty. The waiters/waitresses seemed to be busy up front and did not notice customers come in. Upon being seated, it took another 5 minutes for the waiter to return with the menu and the papaddums. It took another 10 minutes to get my food after I placed my order. I hoped the food would make up for the poor service, but alas, it was a double whammy for me. The chicken curry dish I ordered was bland; the dish was neither seasoned nor spiced. I had to add lots of salt to give it some flavor. The rice looked and tasted like leftovers. I ordered a side of naan and that too was terrible: cold, thin and crispy, instead of hot and fluffy. It tasted like naan from the frozen food aisle. \r \r Indian cuisine is my favorite and 8 out of 10 times I eat out, I go for Indian cuisine. Bengali Tiger has the worst Indian food I have ever eaten. Frozen Indian food from your local store beats Bengali hands-down. \r \r I will stick to Shalimar in the U-District. Their food never dissapoints and the service, prices, and ambience are excellent! Pros: Easily accessible Cons: Food, service more

Tandoori mango Lamb chops 10/12/2009

Great Place for Buffet 9/27/2009

I always go there for Buffet. Never disappointed. Lamb curry is superb. Tandori chickens are fresh. Butter chicken curry tastes good. Vegi dishes are awsome and lots of varieties.I became vegi lover after going this restaurant. Students get discounts on buffet for price of $5.95. Great atmosphere for friends and family. Pros: Foods are fresh. Fast services. Great Price. more

Worst Indian Food Everrr 7/22/2009

I am Indian and I regularly have Indian food outside. So, believe me, when I say that the food here was really bad. First, the papaddums that they serve in the beginning of each meal are stale, old ones that should not be eaten. I would let that pass as it is complimentary. I ate their veggie pakoras and Vegetarian Curry Bazaar. The rice that came along with it is the worst kind you can find. I dont think any other Indian restaurant serves this worse a rice! The curry was hot but that was the only taste (if I can call that 'taste'). The food lacked complete flavor. I have had food close to 15 Indian restaurants here and have never felt so strongly about the food. The waitress was nice though. Service was prompt and you would have no trouble parking near by. Pros: Hospitality, Parking Cons: Bad food more

Great Indian / Bengali place to eat... 11/9/2008

\r We were on our trip to Skagit Valley from Boise for the Tulip festival. We stopped at this restaurant based on review. The young brother of the owner was managing at that time. It was late afternoon. He treated us royally and he himself cooked. Really liked the place. We stopped again on our way back. We will be there again. We highly recommend the place. more

Best Indian in town 9/8/2008

I just moved from London where the Indian is superb! Bengal Tiger would be right there in the running if it was in London! It's great, reasonably priced and has great service. Both their lunch buffet and dinner are super. more

Best mango chicken EVER!!! 8/27/2008

So i never heard about the bengal tiger until a close friend of mine started to work there. With that being said I had to stop in and try something off the menu. The owner of the restaurant is soo friendly and welcomes everyone. He asked me if I wanted to try something and so I did. I tried the mango chicken and OH MY GOD its amazing!!! along with the naan and the rice. I would recommend this dish to anyone who likes a tangy kind of flavor. Other great things to try include, the mango lassi and mango ice cream. Overall I give this place an A++ more

One of Seattle's Favorites 8/7/2008

Some of the best - if not the best Indian food / restaurant in the city - one of the best lunch deals in the city as well - $7.99 for their lunch buffet. Best Indian lunch buffet I've experienced. Packed at dinner for a very good reason...one of Seattle's favorites... Pros: overall value and tasty, tasty food Cons: i like their atmosphere, but some don't... more

Tasty food, friendly service 8/1/2008

Our family drove out of our way to come here for dinner - drawn by the free papadums offered at the begining of the meal as well as the good reviews. The papadums and their chutneys lived up to our hopes, and our entrees were good, too. Delicious sweet lassi. Servers were attentive and helpful and ran out after us when we forgot our to go bag. Pros: Unusual papadum offerings, good food more

Best Buffett 6/13/2008

Never been a big fan of Indian food, but my mind was changed yesterday when I visited Bengal Tiger in Green Lake. Their lunch buffet was amazing, with a varied selection and food for all types. The blend of spices and seasonings in their curry sauce savors in your mouth for the entire day, and only makes you want to come back again. \r \r A++++! more

Best Tasting Indian Food. Very good customer service. Owner takes pride in service. 6/10/2008

One of the best places to have Indian food in Seattle. The flavor is so authentically Indian. I had an opportunity to speak to the owner, who is also the head chef... and prepares all of the entrees by himself. He takes great pride in his culinary skills. The service at the restaurant is awesome too. In terms of the price, it is no more expensive than most of the other Indian restaurants. more

Butter Butter Butter Chicken...MMMMM! 6/6/2008

I went here yesterday for the lunch buffet, and can't believe I forgot about how much I used to come here when I lived in the U district! This really is my favorite butter chicken in Seattle. I am not extremely adventurous but I also had some tandori chicket and smaller samples of the lamb and vegetable dishes. The owner actually walked me throught the buffet and told me what was in everything. He also eagerly greeted others that came in. It's nice to see some pride in a place like that. It was a great experience and I can see why they keep winning on NWSource for peoples picks. more

Frequent visitor no more! 5/20/2008

I must say, it is a treat when my family and I go to Bengal tiger for our family dinners. They have been very caring the service has always been excellent. However our recent trip has left us desiring otherwise. I had ordered the sheesh kabob per recommendation from the owner himself. However when I received my food, the kabob was clearly undercooked and portions of it were completely raw! Just because I frequent the restaurant so much I remained calm and requested the server to return my dish to the kitchen to have the kabob recooked. My wife's tandoori lamb was enjoyable to her for the most part. Until she started choking and pulled out what appeared to be a plastic wrap from her throat. I do not understand how such an object will find its way in the food at this restaurant but one thing is for certain, the reputation of this restaurant has been tarnished in my eyes. Even more ridiculous, the server never returned my food and we sat for an hour as neither my wife's dish nor mine ever came back. The servers were continually apologetic but there appeared to be something amidst. We decided to forego this whole mess and left a large tip for the servers for their excellent service, the restaurant however deserves no proportion of such tip! Pros: Amazing service Cons: Ridiculous restaurant and sanitation issues with food more

Amazing service and hands down the best Indian food in Seattle !! 5/13/2008

OK first of all the owner of Bengal is great, he always comes to our table and makes sure we are happy and need for nothing!! The service between him and his staff is 5 star. The food is perfection!! We love it so much and have so much faith in Muhammad that we let him just bring us food, and the result is mind-blowing!! His food is so full of flavor and My boyfriend and I love trying new things and Muhammad delivers!! ( We always go home with plenty of food too, the servings are large ) \r \r This last time we had Onion Bhaji & Samosas for an appetizer, the lamb in the samosas is so tender perfect start to what is about to be a truly fabulous dinner. The Naan bread here is great - try the stuffed ones you will be surprised! ...yummi ....Dinner .....We start with a little gem called Mango Wala with prawns is spicy and yet not so spice you cant still taste the prawn its a perfect balance of spicy flavor and mango !! Next up is Achar Wala in lamb I am not a big fan of lamb but this was so good I was really impressed the flavor is like fireworks in your mouth. Last but not least is the Shahi Paneer - this homemade cheese is a classic Indian dish but its my favorite I cant get enough of it!! .......\r \r Basically Its my opinion that this restaurant is wonderful!! If your new to trying Indian food or already a fan Bengal Tiger is 5 stars and a sure winner....the price is right and the service cant be beat !! \r Pros: Amazing food and service for a good price Cons: Street parking more

Mango Chicken !!! 4/20/2008

A home beyond home. 4/14/2008

Today is Monday, April 14, bengali's new year-poila boishak. This is our second visit to Bengal tiger. But in only two visits, Saluddin bhai or rather Muhammad for all, has tied up in a cordial relationship. He has a very warm heart with good sense of hospitality. Today, we went to Bengal Tiger to taste some 'homemade dishes' & it was worth going there. The fish fry, macher jhol(fish curry) & at the end the mango pudding with coconut milk was the best. You all shall be surprised to know that we just called him yesterday to say that we want to eat whatever he would like to serve us & the result was 'mind blowing' . Well prepared, well served & above all the courteous nature of Saluudin bhai is the best combination you shall have beyond your house. more
