A great place, Food and Service....\r \r Went last night the the place was packed, We first had dinner in the back dinning room. After filling up on a great dinner, we moved...

We have been to Beachwood numerous times. The food is really good, the drinks are weak/overpriced and the pompous waitresses and management are disgusting. They act like their p...

One of the best meals I've had in LA 8/1/2006

Great food, and an EXCELLENT value (only one entree over $20). A beautiful space, as well...the lounge is comfortable, the service was very friendly.\r \r But the food and the prices were terrific. 4 apps, 4 entrees, 3 desserts, a bottle of wine, 4 cocktails, and two cups of coffee for $252. \r \r Highly recommended...now on my ""Must"" list. Pros: Food, Lounge, Price more

Sweet Potato Nirvana 6/5/2006

Best sweet potato fries I have ever had. All the other dishes were good too. They have a good selection of bar food for the lounge/patio area that is all decently priced. Pros: Sweet Potato Fries, Outdoor Seating, Valet Parking Cons: Crowded on Weekends more

Good Food in general but Overpriced 5/17/2006

I've been here a few times and usually enjoy everything I try which has included the burger, sweet potato fries, lamb meatballs, various salads, albacore and a couple other things. This last time I had the pressed pork sandwich and it was downright bad. How they could impart the taste they did baffles me. The bread was soggy, the pork flavourless, the pickles unappetitizing and the cheese melted hard. $11 for a weak, small mojito is silly, especially considering the location on washington blvd. Pros: most of the food Cons: Drink prices more

Wannabee Hollywood Bar w/o the celeb's 1/19/2006

Most of us like to go the Westside to escape the bouncers with attitudes. Unfortunately, the doormen at this place think they're in Hollywood. This is one of those places that will build a line up to the sidewalk to make it look like it's a cool spot. Unfortunately, you'll get inside (after an hour wait) only to realize that they had plenty of room inside all along! The food is average but overpriced. The best bet's are the burger and fries, but do you really want to wait an hour for those, especially at the prices they're charging? The management here needs to get a clue: You're not Hollywood and you're not that cool. If you're going to charge these kind of prices, you should inform your staff that customer service is priority #1. Pros: Location Cons: Rude Staff, High Prices more

Better Get to Beechwood 1/10/2006

Sadly, this place has all the makings of a flash-in-the-pan establishment, which is a shame; because we really love it. Delicious entrees, a cool atmosphere and great bar vibe make this a good place for starting out the weekend or for catching drinks after work. The cupcakes dessert is a fun twist on the latest trend to sweep LA three small cakes instead of one large piece. (A third of the calories if you only eat one!) Be sure to order the sweet potato fries - they are delicious. Pros: Cool bar, yummy apps & dessert more

Nice restaurant/Rude Bouncer! 12/20/2005

Our evening at Beechwood started out well enough. No problem making a reservation even though we were a large party. The food was quite nice. The skirt steak I had was one of the best I've ever had. Everything was a bit over-priced but good. Unfortunately, after dropping a handsome sum of money on dinner, we had a horrible experience with a bouncer type in the parking lot while we were waiting for our cars. The valets themselves were sweet and helpful, but this guy came over to our group and rudely demanded that we quiet down. He then looked directly at one of our party and told her that we she was very loud and that her voice carried. We called to complain the next day and were told they have ""neighbor issues."" Most restaurants have neighbor issues, but don't employ rude bouncers to deal with the problem. more

Overcrowded and Expensive 10/10/2005

I can't believe how many people they let into this joint! It is impossible to move, let alone get a cocktail. I went with a few of my girlfriends this week-end and we were bombarded by annoying over-done men who must have gotten lost on their way to Sunset. The drinks are very over-priced and the food portions are small and uninteresting. The bartender yelled at us while we were waiting forever for drinks, so we got our drinks from a server, who was very nice and fun, but he was very busy due to the chaos. Pros: close to other good b Cons: OVEROWDED, OVERPRICED more

Good food, Bad service 10/8/2005

Cool interior, but lots of noise. The hostess counter is easy to miss, as it blends into the bar. The outdoor firepit/louge area is a neat twist, but dining here was less than impressive. It took 15 minutes to get a drink order and water. Wait staff was plentiful, but hard to flag down and not at all attentive. Tried to clear our food twice before we were done. Offered us a check instead of a dessert menu (which we wanted.) If you can get past the lousy service, the food is excellent. Pros: great food, fun bar menu Cons: lack-luster service, really noisy more

Worst Bar to Hang Out EVER 9/30/2005

The doorman has a serious attitude problem. It's impossible to get any attention at the bar. Where ever you are, you're in the way of some sort of pathway. And the men that frequent the bar all have a staring problem. Horrible overpriced time. Most uncomfortable place to hang out with your friends Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Lovely..... 9/16/2005

The girls and I went here last weekend. This space is fantastic. We ate from the bar menu and had dessert. I had the artichoke spinach dip that was nice and light. My friend had a skirt steak that had an amazing amount of flavor. The fudgecake for dessert was ridiculously delicious. Our server was great, she added to our fun. And we met the manager, very nice and very hot. Pros: patio Cons: hard to find more

Great B-Day! Great Spot! 9/13/2005

I recently had my birthday there and had a party of 20. We went out on the patio and had a great time. We were very pleased with our food and thought the service was excellent. This is a great spot. Great food, and fun atmosphere. I think this is exactly what the westside needed....its upscale but casual at the same time. I would definitely reccomed Beechwood. Pros: great patio more

Awful 9/8/2005

Was there last night -- bad food, slow inattentive service, and bad atmosphere. Poorly designed -- the tables are too high and you're far apart from your companion(s), the music too loud...Had the artichoke/goat cheese appetizer (very salty), lamb meatballs (gamey), and Ono (so fishy had to send it back). A real disappointment. Only positive thing I can say is the outdoor bar with the fireplace looked interesting. more

Not recommended for big parties 9/6/2005

I recently went to this restaurant with a party of 12. When I made the reservation, I was assured that my party could squeeze into a table for 10. The manager was very wrong about that & was quite rude in dealing with the situation. The only accommodation he made was to put 2 of my guests at a separate table at the opposite end of the restaurant. He assured us that they would be provided with complimentary dessert. It didn't happen. Furthermore, once the cocktail crowd started, they sat directly behind us sharing the bench. Its pretty uncomfortable to have someone else's back against you when you're trying to finish dinner and have dessert. On a positive note, the food was excellent and our server was awesome. Moral of the story, don't go to Beechwood if you want to have a dinner with a large party. Pros: Food, Wait staff, Martinis Cons: Management staff, Seating for lg. grps more

Quality Food, Service, and Atmoshphere! 9/6/2005

I have been to Beechwood several times now...The quality of the food is exceptional. The service has been great everytime that I have there and the place is beautiful...it's modern but very comfortable and cozy....I will be back! Pros: smoking patio, fire pit, great food Cons: hard to find more

The Hype is Over! 8/15/2005

Very big let down since I am a local to the Westside and have seen this location change hands over and over. The bar is a MAJOR single scene! More men, then woman and the crowd is mid to late 30's on up. More bitchy singles than James Beach has. The chicken breast and bar food are a total GO.The cupcakes and deserts all A+. Beechwood does not even have a style drink of there own. I did have a yummy razzberry/lemondrop tini with a sugar rim. I could not believe my eyes when I left the place a GUEST LIST was out to get into the bar scene..LOL Hello? This is the beach, people! NOT Sunset! Pros: Great for Singles, Good deserts, Big Crowds Cons: Most of the food, The Valet, The staff more

Beechwood is all washed up 7/23/2005

We had a large party and were told that there was a reservation on our table after us. No problem. Apps: SMALL portions. The oversalted shrimp looked like they came from a can. Entree: Inedible. My small, gross-looking salmon, again, was oversalted and looked like it came from a can. Two friends ordered the New York Steak- both came overcooked. We brought our own dessert, they charged $15 to cut the cake- which was more than the cake itself cost. When it came close to the next res., the bouncer came over and asked ""How can I assist you ladies in getting out of here?"" Um, perhaps you could start by bringing the check. Needless to say, we won't be going back. In short: over priced for undersized portions, over salted food, and underwhelming staff. May it go out with the tide. Pros: Cool atmosphere Cons: Overpriced, Bad food, Rude staff more

excellent-extremely pleased 7/10/2005

despite the previous postings, i decided to try this place for a first date among all things. I have to say that I was extremely pleased (and relieved) at the GREAT (yes, GREAT) service both my date and I received. We arrived 5 minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our server stopped by our table several times to check on us (and even once apologized for checking on us so much! but that she just wanted to make sure we were fine). My date commented on how exciting the place looked, how good the steak was, and was glad I had such great taste (that was worth the tip alone). So for what it's worth i had great time, and will recommend it to many friends. Pros: service, food, atmosphere more

No Love 7/1/2005

The bar area with the patio and fire pit is very nice especially after walking around the very unassuming exterior of the building. The food looked fairly good and the drinks were ok. One problem - we ordered drinks at the bar while waiting for a bar area table to open up. One eventually did and we sat down. After 15 minutes and no acknowledgement from any staff, we asked a bus boy for a menu which was brought to us after a few minutes. After 35 minutes, we had finished our second drink (got it by walking up to the bar) and hadn't even had a waiter acknowledge our presence. We left. Pros: atmosphere, interior design, fire pit Cons: service , service, service more

I cool place to go with good fiid 6/23/2005

I went there two nights in a row last weekend! The food is great! Get the ShortRib! it's one of the best i have ever had! The service is good too! a llittle slow but friendly. The bar is cool too, but a little bit over crowded. I recommend this place and had a good experience there. Pros: Food, Friendly Service, ShortRib Cons: Slow Service, crowded bar, No Music for some tim more

Lovely, Lovely Spot 6/5/2005

I am extremely surprised by the other reviews, since I had a perfect evening at Beechwood last Saturday night. The hostess was perfectly nice, and led us to our table right when we walked in. Our server was delightful, joking with us and recommending a good wine for our meal. I loved the sweet potato fries, monk fish and cupcakes. After dinner, we had drinks out on the patio. Our waitress was hilarious and kept an eye out for when we needed another drink. Although I was just there on Saturday, I'm thinking of taking a friend back tonight for drinks. more
