Terrible service 2/10/2011

I agree with a previous reviewer that this spa is acting unfairly towards Groupon users. I went to my first appointment but haven't been able to get them to respond to my many voicemails or emails since then to confirm my next appointment. I thought maybe they'd closed but see that they're welcoming new clients. Very bad business practices. more

Closed down 1/27/2011

I, too, joined through Groupon and never received a confirmation call for any visits. When I returned on 1/18/11, for the final (3rd) visit the place was closed. The phone is not answered. The web site states the founder died in the fall '10. The quality of services was spotty at best. more

Get your refunds! 1/23/2011

I learnt of this place via Groupon. I purchased 4 vouchers for my sister and I. I've been trying to get a hold of them to confirm our appointments but have not been able to get through to them (no phone pick up and the box is full). I've been trying for almost 2 weeks.\r more

Disreputable 1/15/2011

My sister and I bought 2 Groupons each at this spa. We have made an appointment for today after having to wait 2 *months* for an appointment. When we came in for our appointment, we were greeted by the closed office. There was no notification of cancelled appointments. There is no way to reach this business - their 800 number was disconnected, the mailbox on their toll line is full and is not accepting messages. I was expecting some difficulties with having to wait to be seen, and having a lengthy delay until the next appointment, given the reviews on Yelp. I did not expect to find a closed office with no notification nor an attempt to reschedule. I would say that it is a disreputable way to treat one's clients if not outright fraudulent. Given that we sunk $400 into the prepaid treatments at this business, I intent to see that the ""salon"" honors the Groupon at a later date given that they did not honor the appointment or get my money back, whether from salon or Groupon remains to be seen. more

Same issue as manaoin 12/28/2010

I also purchased the Groupon for laser based on the reviews for Beauty & Bliss but there were issues from the start. The first was the cost associated with additional treatment beyond the area specified in the Groupon. I understand that it was a specific area and a specific deal but do not offer an upcharge if you are not willing to follow through. The quotes ranged from $75 to $125 and it was explained that they had not yet decided if they would offer the additional service to the Groupon clients. Part of this charge was what was initially called a required numbing cream for $25 (more paperwork for this) which after three sessions was no longer required - in fact they recommended ice only. This was my second concern - if ice works better why did they wait for three sessions to offer it - so they could add an additional $25 to the upcharge? \r Finally, to confirm the post by manaoin, I had not been receiving calls to confirm my appointments but I did not miss any either. In November I confirmed my next appointment for the end of December and when I showed up, they said that they had no appointment for me. At that time I did ask why they did not call to confirm like other salons because I have a two hour round trip drive to Brookline. I was told that it was a courtesy call and they did not have enough staff to handle the Groupon. So, as a Groupon customer, you are not entitled to courtesy - they bascially let me drive two hours for nothing. I know I had an appointment - I had made all my appointments up front with the Groupon because I had purchased two knowing I would need six sessions. (there were three sessions per Groupon) I had confirmed my December appointment with them before I left my last treatment.\r The advice I was given was to call Groupon and get my money refunded. I was told that other Groupon holders were doing the same. It is obvious to me that they are not interested in my business and I am not interested in doing business with them. They were willing to have me pay the upcharge but did not have ""the staff for a courtesy call."" There are better and more professional establishments for laser hair removal that offer good prices and exceptional service but this is not one of them. more

Does not treat everyone fairly. 11/9/2010

I was introduced to Beauty & Bliss via Groupon. They were offering a great deal and I had been interested in trying some laser hair removal. I know that there are many Groupon clients who also purchased this deal and want to share some information about this company's business practices. The paperwork that you fill out at your first appt with Beauty & Bliss requires you to agree that if you do not cancel your appointment within 24 hours or are a no-show then you forfeit that Groupon. So, 1 Groupon purchased gives you 3 sessions. You lose all of them. Sounds fair...ok. ""Show up to your appointment and don't waste our time."" Cool, I dig it. But then, as I stand at the counter checking out and scheduling my next appointment I look down and there is a task list for the new receptionist. What catches my eye is the word ""Groupon"". I casually peruse the list (I can read upside down exceptionally well) and I see the following: ""*Call to confirm next day appointments (not Groupon clients)"". Hmmm...I'm a business owner and something about this business practice seems wrong. I start to think...does being a customer via Groupon make me any less of a client? Does purchasing your services via a discount site that you WILLINGLY PARTICIPATED in make me not worthy of your normal customer service? Did you sell too many and are hoping that people will forget their appointments and therefore forfeit their coupon? I use Groupon to help me find out about companies and services I would otherwise never knew existed. I purchase the discounted products to try them out. I assume that companies like Beauty & Bliss sign up to work with Groupon to help build their client base, yes? So isn't it safe to assume that we Groupon clients are entitled to the SAME courtesy and customer service as someone who isn't? Wouldn't it make sense to treat us with the same respect while simultaneously offering us your other services that (assuming I have had a superb experience via my discount coupon and would then be your newest fan) I would then book and be more than willing to pay full price? Whether or not the actual procedure was good or not does not matter as they are not the only game in town and there are plenty of other highly recommended centers that offer the same services. This is one establishment I will not be repeating or recommending. more

Best decision I've made for my skin! 10/22/2009

I'm only in my 20's but I have always had this annoying line over my eyebrow that just kept getting deeper. A friend of mine referred me to R.N. Claire McArdle at Beauty & Bliss in Brookline. She used single needles per site and it did not hurt at all. With in days my lines were completely gone. My forehead looks amazing! Not only do I not have wrinkles now, since I had botox as soon as my lines were noticeable, it will prevent me from getting lines in the future :) Claire is really great at what she does and makes you feel at ease and comfortable. Go see her today, you will not regret it! Pros: flawless forehead more

Best laser hair removal out there 7/11/2009

For any guys out there that are skeptics about laser hair removal, trust me it works and Beauty and Bliss is the best place for it. I had the toughest beard out there and for several years now have been getting treatments and the beard is gone. It is worth every penny. Dont go to large chain laser centers, it wont work!!! See Claire...you wont be sorry. more

great place for injectables 5/11/2009

Claire is one of the best injectors in the business. She knows all the latest techniques with botox, juviderm, restaylane and where it should go and which ones are the best for which area. The office is always clean, efficient, and relaxing. I travel quite a ways but she is definatly worth it. Pros: claire knows her stuff more

No better skin care in the area 5/8/2009

Claire McArdle's Beauty & Bliss is without peer. She's done my laser hair removal (brilliant!), oxyderms and other face services for years now, and the proof is in the results. My skin looks better than ever, and there's no pressure to buy tons of product. Don't trust your looks to a ""day spa""...go to an expert like Claire. Pros: Clean, expert service, results! more

Feel beautiful and refreshed again! 4/25/2009

As soon as you walk into the clean, immaculate foyer of Beauty & Bliss, you’re greeted by a friendly concierge and the calm, sage-green surroundings of what proves to be a medspa with a mission: pamper me like I’m a queen and administer the most effective beauty treatments technology has to offer and send me off feeling young, beautiful and refreshed ... follow-up appointment card in hand.\r \r Claire, the nurse who administers my laser hair removal, not only has a gentle touch, but she is extremely knowledgeable and can answer any question you have about skin issues. She truly is the Skincare Guru, as many call her. I've had six bikini area treatments, and after each session I notice a dramatic reduction in hair. I know I'm getting my money's worth at Beauty & Bliss.\r Pros: Knowledgeable, friendly staff, effective treatments Cons: Not open Sundays more

Amazing and Affordable Facility 3/12/2009

I can't say enough good things about Beauty & Bliss, especially Clair. She really is a great nurse, very competent and caring person. We are lucky to have this amazing facility in Boston!! Pros: Service, skill, atmosphere, value more

I've finally found a qualified person that I trust to help my skin! 12/23/2008

I've been researching skin care places for a couple of months now and did not feel comfortable with the places I had made consultation appointments with in Boston because the techs were primarily the ones that were going to use a laser to my skin. And I didn't feel comfortable walking into a plastic surgeon's office for laser for the fear that I might walk out with invasive plastic surgery. and they're super expensive \r \r I came across Claire and she's a qualified nurse who I completely trust. She's honest and the best in the business! And she has a great aesthetic sense. Wish I had found her sooner! Pros: Great office, nice staff Cons: Call to make an appointment more
