I will never pay dealer price again for auto repair! I took my car here at Bay Star for my scheduled maintenance and they gave me an estimate promptly knowing how I was pressed for time. It was my first time at this repair shop and I'm totally satisfied with the job. The downtime was minimal and pretty close to their estimated time it will take to do the repair. Bay Star repairs are covered with a written guarantee, so this put my mind at ease in case anything unexpected or unintentional happens after the repair. I am happy with the job and the money I saved. I highly recommend this place. more

I have been going to Gary for over 8 years. He is knowledgable and fair. When appropriate he will give you clear options to take care of your vehicle. His staff is pleasant and will give you a ride to the BART station. more

Went here a few years ago to get my clutch done, and now everything wrong is happening to my car from the clutch to the engine. I had to get all new valves just when they changed the timing belt, all they use are really cheap parts, you can tell on how the car runs and feels after they work on it. I think they get their parts from a junkyard because when I ask if they are done, they say ""we are still looking for parts"" clutch and shifter feels like I am driving a little 1987 Toyota Carolla and not an 1997 Acura Integra. If you want honest diagnosis for any problem with your car, this is the place to take your vehicle. The staff is friendly, provides good service at a very reasonlable cost. Regular maintainance for the any car is atleast 50% less than what the dealer will quote. Shuttle service is available as well for some day long jobs. more

I did 90K maintenance in this shop. They did not give me the detail what they did at all. I had issues right after the 90k maintenance. The check engine lights has been turned on. I brought the car back and they charged a great deal of money to fix it. The check engine light was turned on again one month later. I had to spend time and money to check the issue again. They are cheater for sure and ask you to change expensive while unnecessary part. I gave 0 star. Pros: not trustful, junk parts Cons: cheater more

Needed to get my transmission checked - ended up being a replacement job. Quote was unrealistically high and I walked 2 shops down in the same building and could have gotten the repair done for $800 less. Something's wrong! Either they're not specialized on transmisions and need more time to figure it out (hence the high cost which is mostly labor), or they want to rip you off. I even had to pay almost $100 for the estimate. Wanted to bring 2 more cars for general service and tried to negotiate to waive the fee, but owner wouldn't budge. In this economy, not the way I would run my shop, absolutely no interest in keeping me as a customer. Too bad, I had high hopes for them, and the 2 other cars will get serviced somewhere else. This workshop really sucks.The owner treat you as if you are there to beg some bucks.No greetings.No transperancy in the job he does.Use the scrap items which makes you to spend again in another shop.I will not receommend at all. Midas wanted to charge us about $3000 for a bunch of things that we didn't need when we got a second opinion from Gary at Bay Star. He quoted us about $700 for what we truly needed fixed on our car, fixed it quickly, and didn't try and charge us for anything else. Bay Star has been our go-to place ever since. Recently, we had an odd problem with our car door: the locking mechanism was off and it wouldn't close. We drove over to Bay Star, holding the door closed the whole way, and left it in Gary's capable hands. It did take until the next day to get our car back, but he didn't even charge us for whatever he did to fix it. And on top of that, a few days later we received a nice little post card from Bay Star, letting us know that they appreciate our business and hope we come back to them the next time we need help with our car. I really believe they do appreciate our business. In short, Bay Star Auto Care is an excellent business that shows respect to the customer.
