I call him Mr Gary, I don't know his last name. He is the owner of the place. He is a man of few words but he seems to know lot's about cars. Recently my 97 Toyota failed a smog test and after many diagnosis he discovered that it would need a new Catalic converter. I thought it was going to cost me lot's of money to replace it. But with his guidance I applied to the California clean air Smog Board voucher program and they provided me with a $500 voucher credit towards the replacement of the calatic converter. My co-pay was only $108.00. Now the car runs very clean and passed the smog test with no problem. He repairs every thing in your car at his shop. I have been Bay Star's customer for the past 10 years. Once I took my car to Pep Boys, they charged me $1,000 for maintenance service and a coolant leak. But after I left the problem was still there. I then took my car to Bay Star after a friend referred me and they fixed the problem for a couple hundred. Since then I always take my car to Bay star. I will never go any place else. more

I took my car to One Stop auto to get a repair, One stop was suppose to fix my car call me and then take my car to this shop for a smog. I guess they work together i now found out. Well when my car did not pass smog i called Bar Star and asked them what the diagnosis was. The man on the phone thought about it for a second and told me that he did not do a diagnostic test and the 89 car i brought in was to old and you cant do a test on a 89 camero, he said it has to be manual checking. I called two other shops in town and found this to be a BIG FAT LIE. I called him back and told him that was not true and asked him what was going on. He said he was told by the man next store (one stop auto) NOT to do a diagnostic test because he wanted to look a the car to see what was wrong with it so he could get labor hours trying to figure out what needed to be done??? He said he did not want any problems and said they do and kept saying he does not want any problems. I told him he should have done a diagnostic test not listen to the rip off place next store, but he choose to scam me with the shop next store. I then called one stop auto and he was charging me for a smog test. I called back Bay Star and asked him how much he was charging One stop for the smog and he said he was not sure they have special pricing??? He could not answer how much it was? At the end i was ripped off for $60 for a smog check without me authorizing it. I told One Stop Auto to do a diagnostic if it did not pass.They scam people using eachothers shops. Perhaps this should be a issue for the State Smog License board. DONT GO HERE!! more

I was really lucky to find Gary. My 2001 Honda Odyssey needed a smog certificate but the check engine light would have failed the smog test. We were out of luck since my other a 1994 Toyota Corolla was inoperable. The Honda would need over $3500 dollars to repair the tranmission. Gary suggested that we repair my Corolla and save up for the repair of the Honda. Gary repaired the Toyota and it has runned flawlessly. Several months later we saved enough to put a $1000 dollars down for the transmission repair of the Honda. Gary allowed me (a complete stranger) to make installment payments until the transmission bill was paid off completely. I just have to say thank you to Gary for trusting me. Gary is truly a person who practices trust, integrity and honesty. more
