Great movers 7/8/2009

From start to finish, I found Basic Moving extremely helpful. Ben came over to do an estimate and it was very accurate. The price on my contract was what I paid. No hidden agendas. Ben called before, during, and after the move to make sure everything was good. After over a month of researching moving companies, I'm glad I found Basic. I highly recommend using them in the future. Pros: Very proactive and helpful. Quote was correct. Cons: A couple of items were broken. more

Surprisingly Good! 6/30/2009

My husband and I relocated from Manhattan to St. Louis. We interviewed several moving companies, and Basic had the best combination of price and reputation. We set a date for the move, and the company was very good about keeping in touch with us, and friendly to boot. On moving day, they were in and out ridiculously fast. We got our belongings just days later, which we were very happy about. Everything was intact - nothing broken, and all our furniture/TVs well protected from scratches and breaks. There's also something to be said for the fact that they quoted us a price and stuck to it - no adding ""unexpected"" costs later. Go with Basic Moving, they're great! Pros: Very quick! Best moving experience I've had 6/22/2009

These guys are absolute pros. Also, the in-home estimate and delivery of all the boxes and packing materials you'd need take so much of the stress out of moving. I'd received some cheaper quotes from other movers, but I was won over by their professional manner when they came to my apartment for the estimate. They moved my wife and me from Brooklyn to Chicago in just a few days, and our stuff showed up without a scratch. These guys were worth the money, and I've already recommended them to a few friends who are moving soon. Pros: Professional, thorough, careful Cons: Not the cheapest movers, but worth it more

Professional, reliable 6/8/2009

I would like to thank the team at Basic Moving. Very professional service, price was very competitive. Basic Moving took care of my management moving from NYC to Florida. They had to deal with different stops, heavy and high quality furniture. Everything went perfectly well. The movers were very professional and very careful with the furniture but also with the logistic. No surprises with final price...exactly in line with the estimate. Delivery in Miami 2 days after pick up in NYC. I have to say that after all my bad past experiences (I did organize many moving since few years), I am very happy today to be able to write this review. Very satisfying experience. GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH CROSS-COUNTRY MOVE 5/5/2009

Basic Moving made my move from New York to Portland Oregon as easy and affordable as possible. The crew is responsible, friendly and professional, and all of my items showed up on time, and unbroken. Best Moving Experience 3/14/2009

Fabulous! Our recent move from New Jersey to North Carolina (last week) with Basic Moving was a stress-free and very pleasant experience. We were delighted by the acceptance to our short notice of move (1 day). The team that arrived to collect the furniture was on time and completed the job in pre-informed time. They were professional and handled our stuff with most care. We were explained all the paper-work and charges (a Binding Price - No surprises after the furniture is collected) in detail earlier by their senior estimator. Nothing was hidden. Even the two-member team that delivered the furniture arrived at pre-requested date/time, they also gave a prior 24-hour notice of arrival confirmation. This team completed the tasks in pre-informed time. All the furniture was assembled into place. No delays at all! Great Move NY to Florida 3/3/2009

Basic Moving followed through on all their promises. It was a difficult move to estimate. John took my spreadsheet and provided me with a binding estimate. I was skeptical that the estimate would be honored as stated. However, when the movers arrived on the day of the move, there were no hidden costs, no add ons.\r The movers were professional. They worked from the moment they came to the door until the job of packing crystal, Lenox china, Hummels and my mom's solid wood furniture was complete. They worked for six hours without breaks or lunch. It was a full service move and I would never do it any other way. After seeing their packing expertise, I would never consider doing my own packing.\r \r The truck left my mom's house in Toms River, New Jersey and arrived at an apartment complex in Sarasota, Florida. The movers worked extremely hard using elevators and long hallways to haul the furniture to the apartment location. Because of difficulties with getting large furniture through small thresholds and weight limits on elevators, the move lasted until 1 AM. Even at that hour the movers were professional right to the end.\r \r I unpacked the last box yesterday. With 60 boxes of fragile items, only one small item was broken. I was shocked. Again, I expected the worst and was pleasantly surprised. I guess I listened to too many mover horror stories.\r \r John Alfano stayed in touch with me before, during and after the move. He gave me his cell phone number and always answered my calls. It was difficult moving a lifetime of my mom's things but Basic Moving made the experience a positive one. Total professionals, start to finish 2/27/2009

These guys really know how to do their job. \r \r From the get go, I dealt with a representative on the phone who was super friendly and courteous, and he spelled out exactly how the fees work. No surprise charges or anything like that on the the day of the move, which was what I'd feared from reading reviews of other companies. He talked me through ways to make it cheaper versus ways to make it easier on me, which I really appreciated. I called with questions while I was preparing for the move and again, he was very helpful. They seemed to really want the move to go as smoothly as I did. \r \r I had no idea what to expect because I'd never hired movers before. The first thing they did was to very clearly explain exactly what they were going to do (while the other guys were already getting started). I was AMAZED by how quickly they worked! And when they used their own packing supplies, they tried to keep the cost down to as little as practical. That one kind of shocked me. \r \r I have an upright piano and very narrow stairs. These guys could have given up but they were determined to make it work. They were all sweaty and red from exertion when all was said and done but they didn't even complain. So awesome... And they were very careful not to damage the floors or my furniture - very carefully blanketed everything. \r \r Friendliness: check. Professionalism: check. Good value: check. A Stress-free Move, Thanks!! 2/16/2009

I would like to say that the folks at Basic Moving were great to work with. Everyone that I worked with were very responsive and professional. John made himself available to me promptly whenever I called with a question. Basic Moving provided full disclosure and educated me to my rights as a consumer. The price was reasonable and there were no surprises. I had my furniture moved from Staten Island to Miami and my move went well without any delays and at the scheduled time. This was the easiest move I've had. \r From the initial contact on the phone, everyone is professional, courteous and clear about pricing and extra fees. \r Yes, and their pricing is very fair. \r The booking process was fast and I had no questions because every detail was explained by the end of the call. \r The movers were polite, efficient and did their best to get the job completed. \r This company is genuine, a real keeper. Basic and Easy 12/14/2008

After a long research of all of the moving companies I came upon Basic Moving via Best Business Bureau. They were highly rated and recommended. And it was absolutely true. Other companies give you a window of 3 days for a pick up and a window of 10 days for delivery. These guys give you exact time and date for pick up and they were on time. They were very accurate and clean when wrapping up the furniture. Everything was delivered in the same condition as picked up. Guys were friendly and fast. Moved from NYC to FL... Most Reliable Moving Company We Found 11/4/2008

\r We used Basic Moving in October to move from New York to South Carolina. They were extremely professional and courteous. Since this was our first move, we were anxious and and nervous about all of our belongings being entrusted to strangers - no need to have worried! John the company liason came to our home and explained everything in the smallest detail and continued to provide one on one customer service throughout the weeks before the move and after. The moving staff was prompt, respectful, and professional and all estimates were dead on. We would recommend them to friends and family and would certainly use them again even though there was a small mishap with one of our furniture pieces. This is because the matter was handled quickly and courteously to our satisfaction. Check around, do your homework, get several quotes - you will come back to Basic Moving to hire them. SO WORTH IT!! 10/26/2008

These guys were great. I was so worried about hidden costs or them not bringing everything upstairs or breaking everything. They were very professional though. I had everything in a storage facility in Brooklyn and they arrived before the facility opened. They easily loaded the truck and drove everything to Harlem..even stopping along the way to get my roommate's belongings (this was pre-arranged at no extra cost! She had only boxes...no furniture.) I met them at the new apartment and all I had to do was tell them where to put everything. I now live on the 4th floor and had never used movers before. All my friends and family really appreciated that I didn't ask them to move me AGAIN! I have to say being done with a move before 1pm (earlier than we thought!) instead of it taking all day was so worth it! My four movers were SOO sweaty! I know it was hard work and I was so glad I invested in paying them to do it! It was definitively not cheap, but very well worth it! Pros: Honest, efficient more

BEST MOVERS hands down 10/21/2008

I relocated to NYC last year, but for medical reasons I needed to move back to Seattle, WA this year. Being a young single female, and from the west coast, you can imagine how important it was for me to find a good relocation company, with the best price - and being able to trust them with all my stuff (and hoping it wouldn't be put up for hostage!). I read so many horror stories.. so I thought my best bet would be CitySearch. I called up all the companies that had five star ratings (I picked out about ten). Although they all called me back, many of them missed their appointments, charged ridiculous amounts, didn't provide enough information, quoted only on the phone and kept pressuring me. Come to find out some of the companies I was considering was on RipOffReport!!! When John Alfano came to quote my things, he was professional, early, provided a packet of information, numbers, websites, government certifications, references, even tips for choosing a moving company. I really thought it was too good to be true, and honestly thought at first impression this company looked TOO AWESOME. They received my trust, and always answered any questions I had over weeks on end. Price wasn't the lowest, but VERY affordable. They called to confirm the schedule, the driver called to check in occasionally, they delivered my things in A WEEK!!! The driver was SUPERB!!! He was so careful, hardworking, friendly. Even though I received all my things in one piece (they were so precise they marked and wrapped everything), I seriously would have considered even paying more for such a great company. Terrific! 10/3/2008

I always have a lot of anxiety about moving, and I felt really well taken care of by Basic Moving. I had a small move, and it was completely painless. The movers were quick and efficient, and the driver, who handled the paperwork, was very friendly. They didn't damage anything in the move, placed everything where I wanted in my new apartment, and came in exactly on estimate. The customer service rep, John Alfano, even called me later that day to make sure everything had gone smoothly. They were so quick that they actually did it all in an hour less than anticipated -- but because they have a minimum number of hours for a job, which had been the estimate, that was the total cost. There were no hidden costs and everything was clearly explained. I will absolutely use them again, next time I move. more

Basic Moving Co. is the best choice for your move 9/27/2008

Basic Moving team has done a fantastic job with my move from a brownstone in Harlem to a midtown apartment on August 27, 2008. Their senior estimator made an appointment to come to my home to actually see the job that was required, estimated the number of boxes I would need and provide a ""binding price"" contract. This means that if the move takes 3 hours longer than expected, the price would remain the same. There were no surprises! The movers were very professional and courteous. They took furniture apart and put it back together in the new apartment, and placed all the furniture correctly. Nothing was damaged in the move either. I highly recommend Basic Moving to anyone who needs a moving Co. I have moved 10 times in my adult life and this is the best moving Co. that I have ever experienced. JWDWYER more

Friendly and Reliable 8/18/2008

Basic Moving provided us excellent service with our move from New Jersey to Michigan. The company gave us a binding quote on the price of the move, and the quoted price was the price we paid. There was absolutely no ""bait and switch"" antics, and the company was very helpful to warn us of deceptive practices of some other moving companies. The management and staff were extremely friendly during the move, they packed our belongings very carefully, and our things arrived at our new house exactly on time. Best Interstate Moving Company! 8/6/2008

This is a no-nonsense moving company.. I was quoted a price and that was the price I paid. Company was very helpful throughout my move from Queens to Charleston, SC. Movers were polite, prompt and FAST.!!! I would highly recommend this company to anyone doing an Interstate move. You have to be careful out there.. There are alot of shady moving companies that will hold your furniture hostage.. Not so with Basic.. the honest moving company.\r more
