Took money and ran! 10/24/2010

This store went out of business on Friday 10/22/10! I went to speak to the owner about why my furniture order was late and all there was a note on the door stating that they had closed! I should have known better, the price seemed way lower than their competitors, they took my money and ran! more

THIEVES/Horrible Customer Service/BEWARE!! 12/14/2009

We ordered a glider rocker w/the glider ottoman, and it took MONTHS to get, and paid a very hefty price for it! After waiting months, it came damaged and very poorly assembled. It could not have been assembled any worse. The fabric was not stapled to the bottom of the chair, and was coming apart in the few places it was, because of it only being 1/2 stapled to the frame. The fabric had a cut in it, and several stains(on yellow fabric). I immediately contacted the store, and spoke with the manager Sheryl, who was very rude, and got very defensive with me when I explained I wanted to return the chair, to receive my money back. She wanted to order me another chair to fix the problem, but that would have meant waiting another couple of months for it. I wanted to take the near $1000 I spent on the chair, that was marketed as ""high end"" and actually go by a good chair. After she argued with me, she transfered me to another manager Richard. I found out later both of them happen to be owners of the store. He was no better. He was very argumentative, and unfriendly. He asked me to bring the chair to him. I did, he saw the damage, accepted the chair back and told me that he would give me my money back, but that they would charge me a restocking fee. I was appalled, as if we had done something wrong. I stated how that would be unacceptable, seeing how the damaged chair was not our fault, and it wasn't like we were returning the chair for any reason like, not liking the color or something, or just not wanting it anymore. He would not be reasoned with, so I explained I would have to file a lawsuit against them for the difference if he charged me that restocking fee, because that simply would be unfair. He then said, ""If that's what you are going to do, then I won't give you anything."" It's now almost 3 months later, and they still haven't returned ANY of my money, they have the chair, so I'm having to fight to get my near $1000 back, so that I can finally buy the chair I should have had months ago. The worst experience I have ever had, with any company, in all my life. It's truly unbelievable. Cons: Worst Customer Service/Rude/Combative/Thieves more

Awful... 10/18/2009

They have an amazing selection of furniture and bedding. So...go there, pick your furniture/bedding and then order online or somewhere else! We have spent more than $7,000 in their store over the past 3 years and, apparantly, that isn't appreciated... \r After we just bought baby #2's furniture for the bargain price of $3,000 we just found out (once the furniture has gotten to the store) that we would be responsible for the $150 of delivery. WHAT?? The owner said that since we only spent $3000 (and not $4000 like the last visit....)we are required to pay this fee....""oh, so I guess you didn't really want my sale?"" Pros: great selection Cons: awful customer svc more

Still Waiting.... 9/29/2009

The Baby's Room definitely has a great selection of furniture and accesories to make your nursury absolutely adorable. \r \r The problem is our baby has arrived and the furniture is STILL not here. The manager said it would take 6-8 weeks for the furniture to be delivered... It is now week 10 and everything but the crib is theoretically en route to the store. Of course, then I get to wait an additional 5 days to get it delivered from the store to my house. The crib production has been delayed and it will not be arriving until 14 weeks after my purchase date. This is really unacceptable. Either be up front with your customers and quote them 3-4 months or offer them a partial refund if the furniture is late to arrive. \r \r My baby is now sleeping in a pack-and-play, I am changing her diapers on the floor, and I have all her clothes stacked on the floor of her closet. Word to the wise - if you decide to buy from The Babys Room, MAKE SURE you purchase your furniture at the end of your first trimester to ensure it is delivered before your baby. Pros: Good selection of furniture Cons: Over promise on delivery time more

Great customer service, WONDERFUL experience 5/13/2009

I did a ton of research when shopping for my new baby's furniture, and after visiting every store in town I found a group of furniture that I absolutely love! The people who worked at the store were so helpful, and made sure I came in within my budget. It came in within the time frame given. I waited a few weeks to order it so the time frame changed-- It happens people. hahaha. Overall a great experience! Pros: best selection, great pricing Cons: not near me more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE Plus Limited Selection 1/30/2009

Well as a first time grandmother you want everything to go right for your daughter ( especially when you are paying for the Nursery :) ) But if you shop here, Do expect it all to go wrong. I had read the critical reviews, of furniture delays on here, but chose to ignore them i guess, since my daughter seemed so set on the furniture. Like the other lady, when we were shopping we were told it would take 6 weeks. When we Ordered it changed to 8-9 weeks. When we finally got it, it was almost 3 months later and the baby was already here. Horrible customer service and very upsetting experience. Please do yourself a favor, and shop elsewhere. more

a breath of fresh air 8/28/2008

I escorted my son and daughter in law to shop for furniture for our first grandchild. We went to 4 stores last Saturday. This particular store was rather busy, yet we were greeted when we walked in and give a package of brochures. After 1 hour and a number of questions, we chose a room of furniture and chair that was very reasonable in price, and of excellent quality. The gentleman that helped us was the son of the owner and was very helpful and very funny. I thought we were in a sports store. We had a great experience, something very rare in this day.\r Pros: Very easy to shop Cons: a huge selection- overwhelming at first more

Nicest baby store around 8/28/2008

My husband and I were referred to this store by 3 sets of friends. This is the nicest baby and kids store I have been to. The furniture was very good quality, and the prices were a very good value. The family that ownes the store, all 4 members were very helpful and very knowledgeable. We bought our furniture, bedding, accessories, stroller and carseat. The owner is a certified carseat technicial, and was most helpful. What a great experience. We went to other stores in the Atlanta area, but this was by far the best all around. Pros: An overall great experience Cons: Too much stuff that I wanted. more

Appalling customer service. 8/28/2008

The selection at The Baby's Room is sufficient and I was able to find a crib, hutch, and dresser that I liked enough to order for my first child. I was told when I was at the store that they could guarantee 6 weeks for delivery, but when I called the order in the next day, I was told that it might take 8 weeks. I explained that this was not what I had been told, but I agreed to go ahead and place the order as they assured me that it would definitely not be more than 8 weeks. I checked back weeks later and was told it would be at the store the next day. I called two days later and it still wasn't there and told it might not come for a few more days-keep in mind that I then had to have the furniture delivered to my house. The saleswoman whom I spoke with several times was very nice, but when we had gone over the promised date again, she put a manager on the phone. The manager proceeded to be extremely rude to me and would not listen to why I was upset, but instead took an offensive position. Needless to say, I decided not to wait on the furniture from them as I was appalled by their lack of customer service. If they had just left the nice saleswoman on the phone, we probably would have worked through it. Obviously the lady was very rude to me otherwiese I would not have declined the order that I had waited 9 weeks for with my baby due next week. There are so many other companies to work with, why not just choose them. Save yourself the stress. Pros: sufficient selection Cons: poor customer service; unreliable shipment deadlines more

what a neat place 5/5/2008

This baby store is awesome!! Very nice owners and employees. Great furniture and accessories at a really good value. The lowest bedding prices I've seen around. A lot of furniture packages to choose from. Very knowledgeable and helpful sales people. A family business. We bought a beautiful room of quality furniture for under $2000. When the furniture came in there was a problem with the night stand. They sent someone out within 2 days and corrected the problem. Very good service all around.\r \r \r Pros: good furniture at good prices Cons: not a lot of strollers. Shopping center being renovated more

The best baby store in Atlanta 5/5/2008

This was the best baby furniture shopping experience I've had in Atlanta. I have 3 kids and needed furniture for number 4. As soon as I walked in with my kids, the sales staff greeted me, and started to pay attention to my kids. They gave me a big package of brochures and made themselves available the whole time I was there. \r After about an hour, I purchased a beautiful nursery of furniture. The store had such a great selection of various styles of furniture and price ranges. They actually talked me out of buying a piece of furniture that was not suitable for my needs. When does that ever happen. My furniture came in 2 weeks early, and the delivery service was excellent. I also bought tons of accessories.\r \r WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Pros: Very informative and helpful. Not pushy Cons: Shopping center being renovated. Had to walk around a fence more

DO NOT BUY HERE!! Worst Customer Service!!! NORCROSS Location 4/16/2008

We spent thousands of dollars for our baby furniture (top of the line) and were told it would take 8-10 wks than to find out it would take almost 6 months. They never disclose the negative aspect of this vendor and the possibility of this happening. The mother, one of the owners, was willing to compensate for this inconvenience but the son, Jeffery was extremely rude. He appears to be confused on who the customer is and who the seller is. He needs to attend anger management class. Sheryl, the mother, did work diligently to get us our furniture sooner (still 2 months later than promised) but as a store owner, you are responsible for your vendors and if they are this difficult to deal with, than they should not represent them in their store. Although we ended up getting a good deal for our entire set, Jeffery (the son) took it one more step further and called me up expressing my ungrateful attitude for all they have done for me and how rude I have been in this entire process. Please keep in mind, I'm 9 months pregnant and have passed this to my husband to deal with this situation 2 months ago. I've been completely out of the loop. Bottom line, don't expect a good deal. Do expect bad return policy and extremely rude service. \r \r There are several other reviews with similar experiences on Kudzu site as well. more
