Editorial review from Citysearch 12/27/2012

I LOVE these people. I have taken my Pontiac to their service center ever since I had a recall and they were on the list of places that could take care of the recall. They have always treated me well, and even not charged me for little things, but the BIGGEST thing happened today. Three weeks ago my car overheated and I happened to be close so stopped there and asked them to take a look. They fixed it and it was expensive, and I knew I could probably take it to a smaller/cheaper shop but have always trusted these guys so decided to just pay and go on with my life. Last Saturday I was Christmas shopping and it overheated again. I was quite upset. I took the car in and got the bad news - my block was cracked. I was again, quite upset and asked why the heck they hadn't found that before I spent so much to get it fixed. Tony (who took time out of his vacation to come in specifically for this issue) was quite apologetic and I told him to just park the car, because I didn't have $$ to buy a new engine. I layed awake all night trying to figure out what I was going to do, as I have another year and a half of payments on this car. I got a call this morning from Tony's boss, who said Merry Christmas - we're going to make you whole, we're going to fix this, and it won't cost you a penny. They had talked to GM and convinced them to partner with Champion and get me a new engine. This is a big deal to me. I'm a single Mom and don't have much. It would have destroyed me financially. On a side note - my son just bought his first car there, and I felt they gave him a great deal on that as well - he had no credit and 1099 income and they made it work for a decent APR. I love Champion Chevrolet and may never go anywhere else. more

best employee is no longer there 11/4/2011

I have bought 2 vehicles from Kyle Forga at Champion Chevy. A new Equinox for my wife and a used chevy for myself and have never been more please with car buying experiences. I took my mom to see Kyle for a new Chevy but unfortunatly he is no longer with the company. When I asked where he might be, no-one would tell me. I was lucky enough to remember where I had his card and found his cell phone number. Kyle is now at Chuck Nash in San Marcos. I took my Mom to San Marcos and Kyle was able to get more for the trade than his X partners at Champion and had a more equipped unit for the same price. Avoid Champion Chevy at all costs unless you want to pay more than need be. I have only ever tried using Champion`s Service once and the service guy was pretty rude so I will be checking out Chuck Nash for service in the future as well. more

Poor Service/Communication 2/27/2009

I recently took my 2004 Tahoe in for service as it had a manufacture?s defect due to a poorly made part by GM. I personally contacted GM and told them that I thought they should help pay for part, if not all, of the repair as there are service bulletins out about this poorly manufactured head. They agreed to pay for 50% of the broken head. I opted to replace both heads after being told by the service manager that my out of pocket would only be $1000 more. The day of pickup I was told the total would be $300 more than I was told previously and when I disputed it I was told that they ""gave"" me a $150 detail complimentary. To which I responded that I did not ask for a detail. After talking with the service manager's boss, who had the nerve to tell me I was getting a great deal, I begrudgingly paid the bill. A $2200 repair on a vehicle that only has 63K miles is not a great deal! He also said that he was ""helping us out"" as we did not purchase the vehicle from Champion. To which I told him if that was an issue they should have let me know that BEFORE agreeing to work on it. I have purchased 3 GM vehicles and I will NEVER purchase a GM product again! Nor will I ever give any business to Champion. They definitely need to improve their communication and be honest and up-front about their fees. Pros: Close to my house Cons: Poor service/communication more

Great Sales and Sales staff 9/19/2008

I have bought 9 cars and trucks from Auto Nation. 9 from Champion Chevrolet and 1 from Champion Toyota. The only bad expierence I have ever had there was from one of the finance guys at the Champion Toyota. But a quick call to the genral manager solved the promblem very quickly. I admittedly am not the easiest person to sell to because I ask straight questions and want straight answers. When I go in I talk to the director of used cars because he is the one who is going to do the appraisal on my vehicle. I tell him exactly what the blue book value is and what I expect to get ;if there is a large descrepincy I ask what brought the price down. I have found alot of people place a higher value on vehicles then what the true value is. I also understand that the car company is in the buisness to make money. So with this knowledge I am able to negotiate the terms to fit me. I never expect to walk out of any dealership thinking I have just stolen the vehicle at an unbelievable price. I avoid the back and forth between the salesperson and the finance manager by telling them to bring the finance manager to me if it is not what I am willing to pay. If they say he is too busy to come over. I tell them I will call when I have the time and set up a time that I can talk to them. You will be supprised how often the finance guy gets unbusy and comes over. I also let them know that I am not going to wait a long period of time for them to come over. I always tell my wife that if I decide to leave don't question me there wait untill we are outside and away from the dealership to question my decision. I don't let anyone talk me into vehicle that I don't want to buy. I know what I want when I go in and I leave if we can't reach these terms. I always say that the car company put out the same vehicle 1000 times the same day so I can always find it. I just bought another new truck 15 days ago from Champion Chevrolet and my wife and I were in and out in about a hour and a half. Pros: I have had a great expierence 9 times and they solved the one problem that I did have. Cons: Have none at this time more

Avoid their new car sales staff and management 7/18/2008

Went looking for a new truck at 4pm; no sales staff to be found. Finally was approached by a gentlemen who had litle clue about which features were on which trucks in his own inventory. After thirty minutes of discussion he passed me off onto another salesman (so he could help someone else). This new salesman was constantly leaving his desk (""have to talk this over with my sales manager"" routine). \r \r As most car dealerships do, they low-balled my trade in. I told the salesman what value I had expected, he laughed and said ""I have to talk this over with my manager"". He and his manager come over 20 minutes later and ask me in a snotty attitude ""What my problem is?"" I'm a pleasent customer and don't deserve the attitude and unprofessionalism. I'm more than happy to do business somewhere else. Will never go back. Pros: Average vehicle selection Cons: Sales staff inexperienced and unfriendly more

never ever go there 8/15/2007

bought a 2002 trooper from these people in april. the transmission went out 2 weeks later. i paid $1000 in labor. it's been 4 months and the trooper is now back in their service department for the 4th time for a 4th transmission. \r every time it goes back to them they keep it for a minimum of 7 days.\r 4 times!! they expect me to believe that they have actually replaced the transmission? \r i have emailed the general manager twice and called him once and he hasn't returned either.\r completely incompetent and absolutely horrible customer service. i'd rather eat dirt every single day of my life than ever have to speak to these deceitful humans again.\r more

Horrible customer service. 7/5/2007

I drove my vehicle in to Champion Chevrolet for a warranty repair and was given an estimate of completion late the same day. When I called to check status that afternoon, I was informed that they'd have to keep it overnight and it should be ready the next day. I received a call the second afternoon indicating that the car was ready for pickup so I arranged to be dropped off after work with intent to drive the vehicle home. As I cranked the car and started to drive away, I discovered that the problem was still there and, in fact, the vehicle had not been repaired at all. Since it was approaching closing time, no mechanic was available to look at the car. I was absolutely livid and expressed my extreme displeasure to the Service Manager (the same one who wrote the initial service order and who had called to tell me the car was ready for pick up). He promised to have the mechanic look at my vehicle first thing the following morning. The car was finally repaired and ready for pick up on the third day. I have never before experienced such deceit and disdain for the customer. It's an experience that I will never repeat (at least not at this dealership). I would not buy so much as a toothpick from them in the future. more

Avoid their used cars 1/11/2007

I was shopping for a used vehicle a few weeks ago.I emailed this dealer about a used pickup they had.It was ona monday.I asked them if they still had the truck on thurday night to email me.I sent an email to them asking if they would go down on the price. They went down 800 onthe price. When I asked about the truck on thursday I was told it was sold. The following tuesday I found the same truck on ebay, and the truck was at this dealer.SO I was lied to about it being sold! I bought the truck on ebay and had to give 500 more forit than I was qouted when it was originally for sale.I wanted it because of how good of shape it was supposedly in.I took a trailer to get it.I was told it needed a ""tune up "".I took it to a mechanic because the truck wouldnt run past 35 mph.The truck has a bad cataletic converter, burned valves and a bad carb. For a grand total of $ 1,200 REPAIRS NEEDED ! I told them I thought they did me dirty ,they seemed to just laugh it off ! Pros: They will never see a dime out of my pocket again Cons: misleading staff that lies to thier customers ! more
