I called Auto Max this morning to try and get my Outlander in to check the battery. They were very nice on the phone and said to come on over. When I arrived, Charlie at the front desk was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He said they'd take a look. In less than 20 minutes he had the diagnosis - just need a new battery, thank goodness. He gave me a clear diagnosis and quote. I said go ahead - how long will it take? He said 15 more minutes. AWESOME. My car started up like it was brand new. \r \r Charlie & Auto Max in Pearland made my day! I will be back, hopefully not too soon :)\r \r Take reviews with a grain of salt, people. And if you get nasty in a review, chances are I wouldn't like the same things as you anyway! more

DO NOT GO THERE! unless you like being over charged and not offered part and labor warranty as per their policy. Tonny is the most untrusted person, arrogant and ignorant. The labor charge is $99/hour and is not included in the total estimate. You are told by Tonny only how much the parts will be and you are left to discover at the end that you have to pay at least double after the labor is added. Also a ""supply fee"" of about 7.9% is added to all bills. \r If you like to be cheated and overcharged, go there. If not keep out. more

I had an awful experience at Auto Max. The gentleman at the front desk lied to me twice in one encounter. This is not a place of high integrity. I will never take my vehicle here for any service again. more

This is the only place I bring my cars and the only place I ever recommend to anyone! It's covienient and quick, and they will give you a ride home! If you go there ask for TONY. Honestly he is the only reason I even go there. I refuse to work with anyone here or any other auto shop. He knows what he is talking about and will always try to work with you. Recently the spark plugs broke on our f-150 and and apparently they are extremely hard to fix and very expensive if they break. My husband insisted I call around and check prices and AutoMax still came back cheaper.(Honestly I would have taken it to automax regardless of the price)Tony personally supervised the job and i'm so grateful for him. I'm sure anyone else would have ripped us off, but not him. He is an honest and straightfoward guy who wont try to screw you. That's honestly hard to find. I would and do recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know! more

This place is a rip off. Im a female that was having immediate car problems. I stoped here because it was the closet shop around me. Walked in Tony sitting behind the desk without a smile on his face just nonchalant.(Iknow good customer svc when i see it because i am a local business owner) Told him my problem & before my car was even diagnosed he started telling me major issues. They diagnosed my car & told me i had multiple problem & it woud be $1200. I decided not to get my fixed there. I took it else where & come to find out it wasnt the problems he diagnosed. After all said and done my car only cost $400 to get fixed. Tony/Automax is shady & i wouldnt trust them one bit. more

I have been coming here for over a year now, and the quality of services rendered & customer service has declined more and more each time I return. The ONLY exceptional thing about this business is the employee named Arthur and the fact that they offer payment plans. Arthur is always courteous, helpful, and straightforward; the other employees are trash. If it wasn't for Mr. Arthur and the payment plans, I would have stopped bringing my vehicle here a long time ago. Although these things kept me going back for a while, they simply aren't enough to keep me coming back. I will NEVER come here again, and I DO NOT recommend anyone to do business here. more

The owner is a liar and will say anything to gain your trust. The staff is rude.These people are thieves. Whatever you do, make sure you keep receipts and records of the work you have done on your car. They like to sneak in extra fees. I'll be taking them to court. more

I was referred to automax by one of my co-workers so I called them about my Landrover that I had already spent several thousands of dollars on already but yet it was sitll not working. I spoke w/Gary who asked me what was going on with it, I explained all I could and asked if the could tow it into there shop. Not 10 mins after hanging up with Gary the tow truck was at my garage. A couple hours later I received a call from Gary explaining everthing that was going on and what it would cost and he was very kind and very helpful in this process. I agreed to the repairs and a couple days later it was ready for pickup. Upon pickup the young man at the desk was very helpful and very personable. I have since had to take my truck back to them for other problems not related to the previous and have received the same great service. I have recommended Automax to all of my family and friends and I refuse to take my truck anywhere else at this point. This will be my mechanic shop of choice from here on out. Great job you guys and keep doing what you do best. more

I took my car to automax for service. Tony- who claims himself as the owner was very rude. I waited for at least 10 mins watching him clean his desk before he asked me if I needed help without raise his head. I told him I need oil change and he said 1.5 hr wait. I asked why so long he shrug his shoulder and I asked if it will be better if I went back with an appointment and he said "" it is up to you, whatever you want to do."". At that moment, the technician handed him some paperwork, i heard him saying that is not right and should add more money to it. The 2nd guy said he thought it should already included but he said ""let me take a look and add some."" After I hear this, I asked my keys back and left. Will never go back even it is free-- since they are, at least Tony, the owner, is not trustworthy. Also, they only has one technician there.-- maybe the nice ones left? more

I took my car to Auto Max on Shadow Creek Pkwy for a smog check. Their customer service was SPEECHLESS and IMPRESSIVE. more

I took my car in for an inspection 3 weeks ago. And this was fine, everything went as it should, car passed and i paid my money and went on my way. They pointed out that i needed my Jeeps 4WD front and rear differential serviced, which i knew it needed. I was quoted for $98. The following weekend i brought my car in, since i was off of work that friday to have the front and rear differential done. The person behind the counter asked ME what it was going to cost. I said they quoted me for $98 the previously weekend. Ok they said and told me it would be a 1 hr job. So i waited and read a book. 2 and a half hours later, i finally get my car back. And what a surprise they ask me again what i was quoted, $98, i said. OH but wait, nope its $256. How did that happen? Not once when i mentioned i was quoted for $98 did they say that was not correct, until the job was done and they now could charge me for wtv they wanted. So fine pad my money and left. Not 2 days later i notice they car isnt not shifting correctly and the 4WD service light is continually coming on. Thinking well they just didnt reset it, no biggie. Well after reading these reviews, which i should have done first. i will not be returning. I will be taking my car to another shop to get it looked at. The car does not shift, it lurches when in a low gear, and if i take my off the accelerator it slows down dramatically and the car actually angles forward. Clearly they did not do this right! Oh and because they took so long they gave me a free oil change. But when i asked what it included, they said 5 quarts of regular 5w 30 and a filter. My car takes 7 quarts and 5w20. The managers reply, well um maybe your girlfriend can use it. To summarize, go some where else. more

I just want to thank Arthur for listening to my complaint and actually looking at my car. I know that it's easy for a woman to get fooled by some mechanics and Arthur put my mind at ease. He's Professional, courteous and an asset to this company. He's definitely a keeper. more

First of all I would like to thank ARTHUR for being straight and upfront with me. I went to Auto Max to have my car looked at because my check engine light had came on after I filled up. The guys behind the counter told me that I would have to pay to have my car diagnosed. As I was going to my car I noticed ARTHUR talking to another customer about the services she had just received. She seemed pleased so i waited to talk to him. What a difference. He told me that the light could be a result of the gas cap not being properly tightened. He checked the cap and SHOWED me that the rubber gasket on my gas cap was worn. He advised me to replace the cap and the light would go off. I did as he advised and the light went off. I went to this place expecting to get the run around about checking out my car. The man behind the counter, Arthur, was very patient and answered all of my questions. He walked out to my car with me and showed me what the technicians were going to be checking out. After the service he went over my repair bill and discounted the service because it took longer than expected. I highly recommend going to Auto Max. Ask for Arthur more

I took my Toyota Camry to the dealership for an oil change/tire rotation and the dealership told me my water pump was leaking and needed to be replaced, it was going to cost me $500 plus tax. I called Auto Max and they charged me $291 plus tax... Can't beat those prices. I dropped the car off and they gave me a ride to my wife's workplace so I could pickup her car. Great customer service. more

i was at dealer who wanted to charge me an arm and a leg.so i called around and saw the reviews on these guys and thought i would just see...they gave me the lowest price so i went there.all i can say is i was amazed at how good there service was.i want to thank tony for being honest and telling me that half the thngs the dealer told me i needed didnt even need to be done.i was ready to fix everything the dealer suggested but tony called me back and said that some of those things were just fine and the repair would be even less than i had anticipated..i have never had a repair shop do that befor!...they even gave me a free rental car while they fixed my car!..i am a customer for life... more

I am very surprised to see the other reviews written about this place. I have had a great experience with Auto Max and will not go anywhere else. I drive a Lexus IS 250 and have been going to the dealership for all my services and have been ripped off time and time again. Finally I took it to Auto Max for a second opinion and they quoted me a much lower price and fixed the problem right away. My car has never driven better. The place is very very clean and they are very good at what they do. Since then I have taken my car back three or four more times including today. My oil change was done and I was out of there in 30 mins. I am very pleased with the service I have recieved at Auto Max. more

I got a quote over the phone for a transmission fluid change which was about $40 cheaper than the other places. I brought it in and ended up having a surprise fee of about $40 since the car I drove had to have some kind of special transmission fluid (Honda Odyssey). Didn't they know that when I told them the make and model I had when I called and when I signed my car in? They give you low quotes that aren't accurate to get you in the door. Very deceptive and will take my business elsewhere. more

I took my car in because the ""check engine"" light came on. I was given a quote of over $1000 to fix an exhaust problem. When I told the employee that I wanted to take my car elsewhere to get a different quote, he began a high pressure sales routine. When I insisted that I was taking my car, he waited several minutes before he called for my car to be driven around and then it took 10 minutes after that. I was charged a $90 diagnostics fee. When I got my car back, I noticed the ""check engine"" light was off. I called Auto Max and asked about it and was told that they had reset the button and it would come back on in a few days. It didn't--turns out that the light had originally been on because I put the gas cap on incorrectly. I hate places like this that try to take advantage of people. I tell everyone I know NOT to use Auto Max on Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland. more
