I took my car in because the ""check engine"" light came on. I was given a quote of over $1000 to fix an exhaust problem. When I told the employee that I wanted to take my car elsewhere to get a different quote, he began a high pressure sales routine. When I insisted that I was taking my car, he waited several minutes before he called for my car to be driven around and then it took 10 minutes after that. I was charged a $90 diagnostics fee. When I got my car back, I noticed the ""check engine"" light was off. I called Auto Max and asked about it and was told that they had reset the button and it would come back on in a few days. It didn't--turns out that the light had originally been on because I put the gas cap on incorrectly. I hate places like this that try to take advantage of people. I tell everyone I know NOT to use Auto Max on Shadow Creek Parkway in Pearland.
