Editorial review from Citysearch 10/30/2013

AVP installed our system in September of 2013. They did a professional job from beginning to end. I was worried about having people work in our house after just repainting and refinishing the floors but they were meticulous every step of the way. Ron coordinated the entire project and his guys are top notch. I will recommend and use them again in the future. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/22/2013

Both my husband and I have sent emails and called numerous times over the past 8 weeks and even though Ron said he would come out to our house to recalibrate our tv that we purchased from them and check on warranty issues for our Prodigy remote, there has been no attempt at scheduling or resolving this. I am in need of a new battery for my Prodigy remote and even a request this simple has gone unanswered. When I leave messages no one returns any of my phone calls. Very poor customer service. I do not recommend this business! more

Thank You AVP!!!! 3/14/2012

My husband bought one of your big wall TV's during your New Year sale. He and 2 of his buddies were going to save a few dollars and TRY to install it themselves. HAHAHA. After two days without a functional tv in the living room and his football sunday in jeapordy, he called your install team. They even put the wires behind the wall. TY Well last week he did it again. He bought an all in one remote. We had 6. Nothing worked the way it was supposed to and AGAIN, you answered the call. Great service team and nice to work with !!!!! thanks again-Marie more

Sales hooked me, then I got FRIED 1/11/2009

These guys are all fakes......they pinch you for everything your worth and then leave you in the cold. They didn't live up to anything promised. THUMBS DOWN FOR YOU Pros: N/A Cons: YOU NAME IT more

AVP did a great job! 1/8/2009

AVP sales and support staff did a great job on our new home entertainment center. They looked at the space we had available and choose a home entertainment center that fit the space perfectly. Their work included some custom cabinetry designed especially for us. They listened to our needs and came back after the sale a couple of times to make sure everything was running right and gave us some extra training to make sure we knew how everything operated. The sales team are genuine, friendly and do not try and sell you more than you need or ask for. Great job! more

Beware!!! Look for another AV company, save yourself the HEADACHE! 1/8/2009

I don't want to get started on all the reasons why not to use Audio Video Planners. It was terrible experience that I never want to go through again. Just getting them to the house after they received any sort of payment was a job of it's own. Just look for another AV company and save yourself the headache! more

Exceptional end result... 1/7/2009

Based on my initial inputs and budget AVP put together a proposed sytem. I met their rep at their location and reviewed their initial proposal any questions I had were addressed at that time. I made several changes to the initial proposal, and these were all initiated by me - no hard sell or bait and switch. The install was scheduled and the same rep met at my house to review the project on site, prior to the work starting; I saw this as a plus. Work was started and then held up by a component that a supplier had a delay on. This was a slight drawback and could be addressed by the company (Dont start work until all components are in hand) I initially wanted to use my existing audio components but once we started I saw the opportunity to upgrade my speakers based on the access that was created doing the video work (in wall / ceiling). AVP suggested components and provided very good value on the componet pricing while using minimal extra labor $$ to install. I did see an area for improvement as these changes were not captured / documented in a ""running"" contract / bill. This lead to some minor issues latter resolving the detailed final billing statement - this was resolved to both our satisfactions. The rep who did the initial visit (pre-install) also did a post install onsite visit to review the system and address any concerns / issues. We are in the process of wrapping up the final list. This list was the result of many hours of use and is in reality fine tuning of controls / programming - issues that I could not identify in advance.\r \r The final system is incrediable, I am very pleased with the change to the audio as I now have a complete - matched system that I will use ""as is"" for many years to come. I have had company, who also have home theater systems, who have viewed the system and left very impressed and have asked for the AVP contact information for upgrades to their existing systems. Pros: Very good product knowledge - produced a sound balanced system in our price range Cons: Contract / billing - Need to better document / capture changes. more

Service Call took 3 trips to make it right! 1/6/2009

The first time the tech showed up on the site, they didn't have the parts needed to complete the job. But they knew that part was needed before coming out. 2nd trip my house was horrible, they fixed my sat issue and then they reprogrammed my Crestron Remote, and left with the remote not working at all. After many calls to get someone back out, I finally have a remote that works like butt and a customer that will never use them again. Thanks for nothing AVP Pros: High Prices Cons: High Service Rates....$199...you're killing me! more

excellent audio video products and excellent service! 1/6/2009

we went to audio video planners when we built our house. they came up with a great plan that suited our family room perfectly. they installed eveything promtly and were patient with me as i learned how to operate everything. when we wanted to upgrade our remote, they wasted no time in coming out to our home to reprogram and again teach me how to use it. we have had no problems and very much appreciate their promp, efficient, and courteous service. we will definately be using them again the next time we build. Pros: they are experts in their field and have a great display of theater rooms and tvs more

""AVP does it right!"" 1/6/2009

\r \r As a custom home builder, I was approached by one of the design salespersons at AVP 16 years ago regarding the services they provide and how they could provide a turnkey solution to my A/V needs. Since that time, they have proven themselves to be very knowledgeable and professional in the services they perform. Their broad range of products and services and technical expertise have kept me a customer for 16 years. I just provide them with a blueprint, and they design a complete system that meets my needs, or they will meet directly with my clients to design a solution for their new home. With their help, one of my homes was selected as the ""Technology Home"" in the Parade of Homes. They truly understand real value in the home entertainment business. They remain my one-stop-solution for all my audio/video needs! more

Overpriced Company about to go UNDER 1/4/2009

After visiting Audio Video Planners showrooms, I was truely impressed by the quality of workmanship done there and was sold on the idea of a dedicated home theater. I'll tell you what, the salesman WILL promise you the world, so I signed on the dottted line. Now this is where the fun begins. It starts will them not having the equipment when they say they will. This causes the project not to get started on time and then you wait. After finally getting them to come and install the equipment, I was left with a home theater that barely worked and was nothing like I was promised. After having them come out 3 times after the project was suppose to be done, I still don't have the setup I was promised. Another thing to mention, is you'll have no problem getting a hold of the salesman your working with before the project is signed. But as soon as you need to get the work or service scheduled, you'd be lucky to hear back from the scheduler(BOB). Only way I was able to get a hold of him was to keep calling his work and cell phone daily until he finally answered, because he would never return a call after leaving a message. So after this experience, I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!!!! Pros: NON Cons: everything they do more

Awesome Home Theater! 12/30/2008

I used AVP because a freind of mine had recommended them to me after they had installed a Home Theater for them and they were really happy with their work. AVP was able to turn my oddly shaped room that everyone told me would not work as a Home Theater into a awesome, world class easy to use Home Theater room. Bob and his team were great to work with and they made the whole process fun! We are planning a complete remodel of our kitchen and great room this spring and we will definitely be using AVP to add TVs and music to the main floor of our home. Pros: Extremely easy to work with Cons: Hard to find website more

After the big install, they leave you out in the cold 12/8/2008

I did a major home install with Audio Video Planners. It was quite spendy, but seemed to be done OK. After some time, I found they had set up the sound on my HD-DVD player wrong. Then I found they off-air antenna was installed improperly, then found the deck speakers weren't hooked up right. It took an enormous effort to get them to come back out and correct those mistakes and convince them I shouldn't be charged. Since then, I've tried to get quotes on modifications, installing a Blu-Ray player, etc. and they won't even return a call. I mean NOBODY there will follow-up and return a simple call.\r \r It feels like a company going out of business. I can't recommend them. more

OK install, bad customer service 5/12/2008

I recently built a home and went with AVP as the audio video company. I was finally ready to step up to the big leagues and go with whole house automation and lighting. The builder was confident in the company and at first glance, i was impressed with their showroom and sales staff. Unfortunately their follow up and service has been lack luster and i was left with a ""crippled home."" I promise i will never recommend their services ever. I did end up finding a company in the Woodbury area that has exceeded my expectations. Luckily Advanced home Environments have picked up the pieces and turned my home into everything i imagined it could be. more

Smile at first, but not in the long-run! 3/4/2008

I wouldn't recommend them to friends. They set our house up with numerous features: phone system; speakers throughout the house with radio/CD player/surround sound for TVs/TV entertainment systems (a theater room too)/security system (over $20,000). We've not had any direct problems with installation procedures but when have service recommendations done it seems as though they take the easy way out by simply throwing in new products, we have had other (local, not big namers like AVP) come in for second opinions when working with expensive problems. Every time (4 total) AVP has a solution but the locals are more effective and much cheaper. To give you an idea, the last problem was with the theater room not working properly and AVP said it could be fixed with buying a new system and that our was outdated, trash, and we received a $5,760 estimate. The local guy from town came in and took one specific piece that wasn't working and it cost us 4 days and just over $200. \r One more thing: I am fairly knowledgeable with knowing how to hook these thing up and operate them. In trying to plug a new sub woofer to replace the broken one I had to have them come do it at full cost because NONE of the wiring was labeled. I felt bad for the man sent out and helped him try to identify wires (it didn't simply pug into the receiver). They had different people take care of installation on each floor with the exception of the security and the theater. The main floor is ""coded"" in HIS language, talk about job security! \r I'm in the construction industry and now have a local company (5-10 men) from Hastings MN take care of buildings and houses where quality matters in the long-run. Pros: Big selection. Smart people. Cons: Comes off as sloppy work when inspected. more
