Worst facility ever!!!! They estimates they gave me didn't match any of thd charges on the ginal bill. They overcharged on all the medications and they billed for 60 hrs for a ventilator and my dog wasn't even there for that long. I ended up getting an $18,000 bill and because I am disputing the charges they won't return my dogs ashes. This is outrageous! more

I brought my pet Pork Chop into Atlantic Coast facility near death. They cared for him as though he was their own. He had swallowed a small toy and he ripped up the lining of his intestines. He needed complete reconstruction of his intestines. The surgery was intensive and the doctors tried to prepare me for the worst. They are the most compassionate and caring team I've ever encountered anywhere. Needless to say Pork Chop is on the mend and being taken care of by a very experienced and knowledgeable staff. Thank God for Atlantic Coast vets and staff. more

A good place to go if you want them to kill your cat 9/4/2013

My mother brought our 12 year old cat in because she was vomiting at the recommendation of her regular vet because her liver enzymes weren't right. We thought she would get the best care possible. The reality is, our cat got tortured to death. It all started when they wanted to biopsy her liver and check for cancer. During the procedure, they managed to puncture her colon. \r What followed was a phone call to my mother saying that the cat needed to be rushed into surgery and needed approval and money before they could operate. Are you kidding? We had to pay for ACVS’s negligence. After my mother gave the green light, our poor cat waited over an hour and a half for the surgery. The surgeon said it would have gone better the sooner she got in. If that’s the case, why did you wait around for over an hour? Complete and total incompetence.\r After the surgery our cat wasn’t herself. Her abdomen was filling with fluid and she looked like a balloon. Did they draw some off to more

No. Did they bother to figure out where it was coming from? No. All they did was continue pumping fluids into her via IV and shoved a feeding tube up her nose and down her throat. Our cat suffered every minute while she was at ACVS and ultimately died there because of they were just too inept. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. They don’t care about your pet, just your wallet.\r more

Extremely helpful 3/19/2012

I came to Atlantic coast with my cat that was having difficulty breathing. He was taken in right away to be treated. The staff at Atlantic Coast was extremely helpful in my time of stress. They also came up with a diagnosis for my cat and saved his life I would go to Atlantic coast for any other emergencies and problems that would occur down the road. more

My cat "Murphy" started vomiting and hiding a lot for almost one week. Throughout that time I saw my vet twice and nothing seemed to work. Finally he referred us (me and Murphy) to this facility and let me tell ya!!.... I was impressed with the compassion, care and professionalism from the receptionist to the doctors and technicians (daytime and night staff). I was mostly delighted with the knowledge and humble personality from all the doctors... It seemed that they knew the answer for everything!!!.. and when they didn't they were willing to admit it.. Long story short.. my cat was diagnosed with you name it... (let me see if I get this right).... Diabetes ketoacidic, infection of the urine and pancreatitis....NOT GOOD... Well..... he was in the hospital for a little over a week....and I have to admit.. it was expensive.... but it was well worth it!!!... My Murphy is still not out of the woods yet but I know that with the help of my vet and the doctors at Atlantic Coast.. my Murphy will be OK and back to normal in no time. I wish never to come back because I don't want anything happen to my Murphy...but I'll gladly visit and just to say hello!! Pros: null Cons: null more

Excellent care! 1/25/2012

I want to thank the folks at Alantic Coast from the bottom of my heart for the eight years of excellent care that you gave Romeo. By controlling his blood pressure so well for so long, you not only prolonged his life, but you permitted him to enjoy a true quality of life for those many years. We always valued your opinions on Romeos condition Thank you. Pros: null Cons: null more

They found out what was wrong with Rusty and treated him . I am happy to report he is making a full recovery. I cannot put into words how greateful we are to the Drs. and staff. THE BEST VET IN THE WORLD!!! 1/20/2012

Dr Kramer pulled our Harley Bear through his terrible ordeal. Words cannot express the magnitude of our gratitude. He is a wonderful Dr and truly an asset to his profession. He offered comforting words and compassion to us during that emotional time. The staff who greeted us each with a smile and helped with his care. more

NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT TRUST THEM - THEY ONLY WANT YOUR $$$ 4/11/2011

NEVER AGAIN! 3/17/2011

Took my 7 month old LAB to Emergency at ACV on 3/16/11, because his eye was swollen pretty bad. First sign was my dog who was fighting me as I was trying to go into the place. Mind you he runs into Floyd Harbor Animal Hospital and LOVES it there. ACV was all about the money not the care of the pet. Constantly saying it was going to be $30 for this $30 for that. $120 for this etc. Bottom line I spent $175 for absolutely nothing and who knows if they even checked his eye. Thank God my puppy was going to our normal vet the next day 3/17/11 to get neutered. They checked him all out and he was happy as can be. Doing well and no issues. I will never use ACV again and will recommend friends and family not to go there as well. I need a doctor no matter who it is be more focused on the care then on the money. They are just money hungry people and should be shut down. more

Worst ER service ever seen 1/4/2011

I give this ER service 0 stars. Do NOT go there. If your animal is in need of emergency service this is not the place that will give you the care that you need. I went there with my dog and the receptionist just chatted to other clients while I waited anxious to have my pet receive er care that he desperately needed for an acute eye case. When she finally came over she looked at his eye and said, "He's not going to die." And promptly walked away into the back. I didn't see her again until 35 mins later after knocking loudly on the 'employee's only' door. She came out finally and simply said, "We have 2 patients we can't see him now." Now my lovely dog might loose an eye because she couldn't take a minute out of her chat time to look at him. I do NOT advise anyone to go there. If this is any indication of the medical treatment you will receive there I highly recommend you go elsewhere, even if it means a few extra minutes drive. more

PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE 5/14/2010

I brought my one year old beloved yorkie in as it was after hours at her vet. My dog was not only given the wrong diagnosis, but also due to an incorrectly performed procedure had her bladder burst which caused her death. This has been confirmed by another Vet and an autopsy. I was treated extremely poorly and charged unethical fees. I have still never been given a return phone call since the death of my dog. I am not even sure if the head of the practice knows about my situation as I have not ever heard back and am treated hostilely by the reception desk whenever I have tried to reach him. If animals had any actual rights I would file charges. I would never bring my pet here! I hope this saves someone from the needless suffering my pet and I went through. This situation has been heart breaking! more

Horrifying Beyond Belief 10/14/2009

My elderly cat was treated at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists, 3250 Veteran's Highway, Bohemia, NY 11716 on April 28th 2008. He was in guarded but stable condition with undiagnosed liver problems. Pros: 0 Cons: Death of my beloved cat due to gross incompetence. more

Atlantic Coast Veterinary gets 5 stars 8/11/2009

I brought my very ill dog in to see the doctors at Atlantic Coast after my own veterinarian had run out suggestions. I found the hospital to be very clean, the staff to be very helpful and answer all my questions. They found out what was wrong with Dutch and treated him appropriately. I am happy to report he is making a full recovery. I would definitely recommend this hospital to everyone I know. They get 5 stars from me and Dutch. more

Atlantic Coast Veterinary exceeded my expectations 8/4/2009

I had recently adopted my cat and came home late from work to see him having a really hard time breathing. I rushed him to Atlantic coast vet since they were open at 11 at night. He was immediatly seen by a doctor who sat and went over all of his issues. they exceeded my expectations and i would recommend them for all emergencies and care. more

Atlantic Coast Veterinary is Top Notch 7/27/2009

I also have to say I disagree with Karen S.I brought my dog into Atlantic Coast Vet Spec on an emergency. My dog was was quickly diagnosed with Addison's disease, She was apparently in whats called an addisonian crisis and could have died, but Thanks to all doctors and staff my dog is still with us and doing incredibly well. I could not be any more grateful to them for saving my "bud" Diesel. I would recommend Atlantic Coast to everyone I know. more

Atlantic Coast Veterinary is Supportive, Caring & Knowledgeable 7/23/2009

I would strongly disagree with Karen S. and other negative comments. My wife and I were impressed with the quality of care and compassion shown to us and our dog "Henry" from the staff at Atlantic Coast Vet. Henry's multiple medical problems were diagnosed quickly and the severity of those conditions were explained to us. We had been here 2 years before to help treat our cat's vomiting. They have supportive, caring, and knowledgeable staff and we would go back if needed, but highly recommend them. more

LOVE THEM!!! 2/23/2009

I brought in my 8 year old english bulldog who was really sick at the time. They immediately were able to diagnose the problem and got my dog into surgery the next day. The staff there was so kind and compassionate to us through this difficult decision, they did not rush me into making a decision they understood my concerns with my dogs age and my financial situation. I could not have been happier. I am so glad to still have my little girl around who is completely back to normal thanks to the doctors and staff who cared for her. I am so surprised to see such negative reviews because our experience was wonderful and we will be using them in the future. more
