We were frantic, my little Sheltie, Geoffrey was vomiting and having diareah rull of mucous and blood, when he walked into our home at 2:30...My husband wanted me to come straight home and get him into a vet...(I work at Barnes) by the time I got home at 5, he was lethargic and hardly moving around the house...I had called and found that they were an Animal Hospital, so called expaining his symptoms, and we were new to the area, and he was up to date on his shots, etc. They worked him in at 5 which is what time I would get to the area...they were sweet and very understanding. We were concerned with cost and they explained every procedure and cost, which I appreciated. He ended up spending two nights to get IV therapy, treating him for pancreatitis. He would have indeed died, if we had not seeked treatment. The Dr. even called to check up on him. Both of the vets were female and were wonderful. Dr. R was the one who explained his meds for going home, and I could not ask for a kinder staff...No complaints here...NONE! more

I wouldnt take a street rat to this place. Unprofessional...EXTREMELY over priced. Took my 4 lb yorkie there as he had inner bleeding. For 3 days I cried just knowing he was going to die (took him to Arnold Animal Hospital all 3 days) Never did they run any test or anything. Basically they were going to let him die. The 3rd day after leaving there I went to Jones Animal Hospital in Festus, The vet there ran all test right away, found the problem and the cure and was still A LOT cheaper than Arnold which ran no test at all. I asked Dr Jones why he would do this and not do even one test and was basically going to let him die. His respnse to me was he was trying to save me money. n all the years I had previously went to him, never ever has my finances ever been discussed and every bill was always paid when services were rendered. Those 3 days I took my yorkie there, the only thing they did was give my yorkie 2 tubes of water at $15.00 a tube where as in Festus, the exact same tubed water was $5.00 per tube. I have taken my pets to Arnold Animal Hospital for 30 years...I have always had pets..but Arnold Animal Hospital no longer is the caring, compassionate, vet that vists you anymore..they are rude, liars, disrespectful and down right greedy!!\r \r I have to agree with a few others I read here...my problem started with reinarman also. When My female yorkie had a litter of 3 and I took them in for their 1st visit...reinarman, asked my to donate a female puppy to her for her daughters school. Since I refused she became a total witch. Misdiagnoses wrong (I do believe ignorantly on purpose and then wants to argue and fight with you about something you know for a FACT she's lying about. I understand to point Dr Jones backing his staff but how long is he going to allow the one Vet run off major, dedicated business?\r \r They sell Frontline at Walmarts and Buckeits...seriously, so their spill about having to bring your pets in first before they will give it to you it BULL!! more

Lost our dog 12/16/2011

When I was little this place lost our dog and I would not suggest them, my parents put up signs and put the story in the news papers and they threatened my parents with a lawyer. I'm now 15 and will not forget what these people did. Please read more on my moms website before trusting these people with your loved pet. judymyers.tripod dot com (it wouldn't let me type the link all the way so add the . where I spelled dot) Pros: null Cons: null more

Too Costly to Use 10/18/2010

AAH is too expensive. It seems they care more about making dollars than anything else. They love to schedule follow up visits incurring additional cost. I just had to stop taking my cat there! more

Buyer Beware 10/18/2010

To who ever will listen, 10-17-10\r Hi, my name is James P . In August my wife and I agreed to buy our girls a toy yorkie. We found a good breeder and made sure the puppy was not raised in a puppy mill. We did not want a traumatized puppy so we paid a little more for a good breeder. We understood the responsibly to this little puppy so we wanted a good veterinarian. We decided to patronize at Arnold Animal Hospital. Well this decision would haunt me. On Wed. 10-13 visit with little Lilly (who waise about 2 ½ pounds) turned in to a nightmare. All we needed was a rabies shot, but got so much more. On this day Mr. Scott Stewart (AKA Dr. Steward I will not call him a Dr.) was little Lilly's vet. He entered the room with little Lilly scared out of her feet. He then grabbed little Lilly and began tormenting my wife that the little dog needs training. Being a professional he must realize that we m more

Only for the dogs! 10/17/2010

I would like to leave some honest feedback for AAH. My two dogs have been clients/patients of AAH for 5 years. As noted by some, the front desk receptionist can be surly. My first visit didn't receive high marks as I was a new dog owner and yes, AAH did lighten my wallet as a result. Two wellness exams and preventative meds totalled $600. I was a little surprised and the staff memeber responsed, "Pet ownership is expensive". Bitting my tongue, I paid the bill, and chalked this one up to a lession learned. While attempting to leave, a very 'concerned and caring' old man in the waiting room was enjoying his training clicker. It annoyed the heck out of my two dogs. I hope his lab pissed in his white cadillac!\r \r Second visit was a little more tolerable. It took this and another two visits each totaling $80 to clear up an "ear infection". The DVM (not the primary vet selected) who attended the exams was just concerned about the dog's ears and the $240 didn't hurt either.\r \r This facility more

At the Arnold Animal Hospital, patient care is why we are here. I would like to address the topic of a client we did not sell flea product because we had not seen the pet recently. It is not our intention to drive people away due to our policies. We strive to adhere to our policies in this matter and others in an attempt to be consistent in how we address the care of our patients and their owners. Concerning the sale of products, in order to dispense prescription medications, which includes heartworm medication, we must by law have a client-patient-veterinarian relationship. It is our policy that we need to have seen the pet within the past 12 months. In order to dispense products that are not strictly prescription but the manufacture insists on that same relationship, we may extend the time since the last office visit to 24 months. This includes prescription diets and some flea and tick products. This is not a legal issue so some veterinarians and most online pharmacies do not r more

Very Disappointed 8/4/2010

I was very disappointed with my recent experience at AAH. Previously in the last few months I had visited to purchase over the counter flea preventative medicines and had no problems doing so. No restrictions, appts necessary, etc. However when I was there yesterday I was told that because my dogs had not had a well visit recently, I would not be allowed to purchase the medicine. Seriously? When I asked why I had been able to do it last month, I was told I would be called later. Later turned out to be 3 hours later when the vet called. more

Very Disappointed 8/4/2010

I was very disappointed in my recent experience at AAH. In the past few months I had visited there to purchase over the counter flea preventive medicines( frontline, advantage, etc) and had no problems. I didn't need an appt, or have restrictions. When I visited yesterday, I was told that because of my dogs not having a well visit recently, they would not sell me over the counter flea medicine. Are you kidding me? It seemed very arbitrary since I had just bought it a month ago. When I asked why the change in procedure, I was told they would call me.Finally..... 3 hours later, the vet called. Meanwhile I had visited another vet and had purchased what I needed without a problem. (And this vet had never seen any of my animals!) And I called The Humane Society today and was told to come in anytime to buy frontline without having to have dogs looked at, as it was just a preventative medicine. I feel like AAH wasted my time, money and didn't care about me or my animals. They just seemed to want the money for the office visit. The vet basically blew me off, told me the company that sold frontline said it should only be sold after dogs were checked out, ect. IF that is true, then why would The Humane Society sell it? I don't know why they would alienate a long time customer. Word gets around. more

Great Vet 7/19/2010

I have taken my Dogs to AAH for several years now. My Pug has had 2 surgeries - one to fix a problem with his hip joint and the second to repair a hernia. Both surgeries were handled well and we were given great follow up care. \r \r I have always been treated well in the office. I am not on a first name basis with any of the desk staff yet have been treated in a friendly manner when arriving and leaving the office. more

E Vet 6/16/2010

Great care received. 4/25/2010

I help take care of a "puppy" who's got Diabetes. Chelsea has had Diabetes for about 5 years now. She went through an episode a few weeks ago that she's still recovering from. She was really, really sick and we thought that we were going to lose her. Long story short, Chelsea is still with us because of the awesome care she received at AAH. Both Dr. Feldkamp and Dr. Stewart are wonderful doctors who worked hard on getting Chelsea better. And the staff are great as well. Chelsea's been to their office so many times over the years due to her diabetes and other issues that everyone knows her by name and just adores her. So, thank you Dr's Feldkamp and Stewart and the wonderful staff for taking such good care of Chelsea. more

Great Vet 1/12/2010

I have used Arnold Animal Hospital for over 15 years. I generally only used Dr Feldkamp or Dr Kohne who are both wonderful. One day my Giant Schnauzer got sick and the only vet avaiable on short notice was Dr Reinarman. I went ahead and took the appointment. I was very happy with her at the time of the appointment. Unfortunately Vader did not improve and Dr Reinerman did further testing. The day he was scheduled for the ultra sound he took a turn for the worse. Dr Reinarman made a phone call to Vet Specialty clinic and got them to see Vader right away. It turns out that like his uncle who had to be put down at 18 months old, he too had cancer and had to be put down that day due to complications. Knowing that this was the second young dog that I had lost and still had a 3 year old Giant Schnauzer at home Dr Reinerman took it upon herself to make numerous phone calls to check with enviromental specialist to see if there was anything that could cause the cancers in these two young dogs. Snooty receptionists! 11/30/2009

Every time I have gone to AAH, whoever is at the receptionist desk will completely ignore you if they happen to be on the phone or talking with a staff member. If they even looked at me to acknowledge my presence, I would have been satisfied with that! I even called the owner to report this, but it happened on my next visit too! Needless to say, I switched vets and and now taking my 3 dogs to Lemay Animal Hospital, where we are treated with complete respect and kindness. My dogs love the staff too! more

ONLY THE BEST FOR MY DOGS 6/1/2009

I have been going to Arnold Animal Hospital for quite some time. I transferred to them when my dog was very ill. I had him at my "old" vet that same day. My "old" vet treated him, charged me $400.00 and sent him home. He proceeded to get worse through the day. My"old"vet didn't have time to see him back the same day. I thought my dog was going to die. Arnold Animal Hospital was the ONLY vet in Jefferson County that would see him. I took him there--they fixed the problem. The bill was minimal. Their prices are very reasonable. I have continued to go there. They now take care of both of my dogs. My dogs LOVE the staff. I would highly recommend taking your animals to the Doctors at AAH. more

TOO EXPENSIVE! 2/25/2009

I bought my Yorkie from a lady in the Lemay area and she had all her shots given at the Lemay Animal Hospital. Since I live here in Arnold, I thought I would just have all her records transfered. Everytime I go into AAH they always say she hasnt had her shots after I tell them EVERY time that they do have her records! They take a double look and say Ooohhh we have it here, DUH! Everytime I go in there, they try to talk me into buying different things besides what im there for. Anyway I wanted to have her spayed and AAH wanted to charge me $150 plus medication. I called Lemay and they only charge $100. Needles to say, I'm had her spayed at Lemay and they did a wonderful job and only charged me $100. more
