Arbor Hills Nurse & Rehab Ctr

I had my mother in Arbor Hills. I was told it was one of the best ones. I was not happy with the care at all. She would ring for a nurse because she had to go to the bathroom. Nurse's aide would come in and turn off her light and say she would be right back. She wasn't right back. My mother would often have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for a bedpan. The place is understaffed and the aides aren't that good. I removed my mother from there and took much better care of her myself. I would not recommend it, but maybe all of them are just as bad. It is a national disgrace the way we treat our old people. Keep them out of a nursing home if at all possible. more

Visiting hours were over at 9pm. I brought my kids to see their grandpa at 8:10pm. They had given him his night meds and on top of that they drugged him to keep quiet and in bed all night. I was not aware they were doing this and when we saw him he was so out of it he was slumped over and drooling out of his mouth, my kids were horrified , trying to wake him up and telling them they loved him. That was the last time they saw him, he passed away soon after. It really bothered them and I pray this doesn't happen to anyone else..keep an eye on this facility or for god's sake, take them to another place. Arbor Hills is Not only terrible to the patients but to certain employees as well. The administration show favortism to certain nurses which is why I believe the care is so bad at this facility.Call Immigration the next time your family member is admitted "" I bet the facility would have no staff"" more

My father was just recently moved to this facility from Alvarado Hospital. The facility indeed looks very nice from outside but the care has been horrible. My family and I have been with him pretty much all day and are noticing that it takes more than 30 to 40 minutes to get a response when needing assistance. During the day my father seems to be okay however at nights when we are not ther I have no idea wha happens but early in the morning he seems to be completely out of it. Very few of the staff members are helpful or friendly. Overall care is not good. they do not seem to care too much about the patients. We will definitely pull him within the next day or so. more

This facility was recommended by a local hospital. We checked out this nursing facility before my father's arrival. All seemed good, with visible staff from the moment we stepped into the facility. However, the nursing care was awful. The nurses appeared inexperienced and dense most of the time. We had to remove our father from the facility. We felt sorry for the residents who could not advocate for themselves. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. more

I had my mother at Arbor Hills, which was recommended by Sharp Hospital. I was impressed by the cosmetics of the place, however the care was horrible! My mother was always looking for assistance and was ignored 80 percent of the time. The staff seemed like they didn't really care and the administration was less than helpful. I was promised from the admitting person that Arbor Hills was the best place in San Diego, she was sorely mistaken. I have spoken with many other families with parents there and they had a very similar experience. I learned a big lesson, don't judge a book by it's cover!
