Best

This is my 2nd dog I picked and have been extremely happy.

Worst

The puppy we purchased had fleas and the Animal House did nothing about it claiming it was our fault, because from the store to our home she became infested with fleas. When asked...

Thank you!!! 2/2/2012

Example of a PUPPY/KITTEN MILL! 12/9/2011

I went to animal house a couple of years ago, before I got my 1st dog. My mom, brother and I went inside and INSTANTLY we breathed in the horrific stench coming from downstairs. The lady working there that day led us down to the ""basement"" where all the puppies were kept. more

Will NEVER Buy From Them Again 10/7/2011

Purchased all my dogs from them in the past with no problems until july 2011. Purchased a purebred (blue merle parti sable) male pomeranian born 5/13/2011. After they swiped my card, was told they will send the papers to me . I took my puppy to Dr.Putchat that following monday to get him examined to find my puppy had Undescended testicle (cryptorchidism) . Called Animal House about the puppy, Although it took me a couple times before I got someone on the phone. they said "" We don't warranty the puppy for that"". Found myself shocked as they have always stood behind what they sell, but appeartly not anymore. waited for papers with no results til september 16th to find it was just a application to get papers through ICA. This registry deals with designer dogs,or better known as mutts. No proof needed of puppy, or pictures needed. What a CRAP Association!I Come to find out after inquiring this application with errors on it to the owner, and she said the wrong papers were sent to me, and the puppy I got was born on 3/29/2011. So I bought a much older puppy with no papers, and cryptorchidism! Now seeing my dog grow onto himself I dont see no purebred pomeranian . I will stand behind a 100% that this puppy is Eskimo / Pom mix. Better known as a pomimo. I am so P*******st that this place screwd me over after I did nothing but bring them business, and trusted them! NEVER AGAIN will I buy from these DECIEFUL people again. Oh, and this puppy was bred in there back yard, NOT from a breeder.**** WARNING *** if you to choose to go to them, make sure you see the papers before they claim to send them in. I now own a mixed mutt with no papers from a legitamte association that was suppose to be a purebred pomeranian. If anyone needs to see what the paper looks like from ICA I strongly reccomend checking out the site . First line.......Designer Breed:__________ . Underneath at the bottom it gives Store puppy # which you will NOT see on a CKC,or AKC registry. Folowing that you will see Stolen or Lost Puppy Tag # ________. What a joke of a place(ANIMAL HOUSE). I am sorry I ever went there, My mistake. They lost my business for good! If you need a good puppy look into lancaster puppies. they are breeders that provide proof, vet check, and will give you the puppies papers on site. My friend just got a purebred english bulldog for 900, and got everything, includong a warrenty, and health certificate. I will go out of my way to get the word out to everyone who inquires about a puppy , and who I would recommend. more

Great puppies 9/17/2011

Bought my wonderful Shepherd mix at this store for only $99. This included shots and a free vet visit. This mix was not bred on purpose - no mixes ever are - and they need homes too. Hurrah to Animal House for taking in poor mixes and making sure they get good homes. I know you certainly didn't make much money at this price. more

Adopt ... Don't Shop. 6/29/2011

It doesn't matter if you had a good or bad experience with the particular animal you purchased from any pet shop. While you are buying dogs from breeders, there are thousands of wonderful, lovable pets around the country who are dying in shelters. We have a huge pet overpopulation problem. Why would you go out and buy a "brand new" puppy or kitten ... because you think it's better than a "used" pet from a shelter? Most shelter animals are surrendered by their families through no fault of their own. The owners may be moving to somewhere that doesn't allow pets, unable to afford to care for their pet anymore, or just abandon their pets because they're no longer wanted. Sometimes these innocent pets have only a matter of days or hours before they are euthanized because there's just not enough money or resources to support all of the homeless animals out there. A common misconception is that all shelter animals are old. There are many shelters in this area alone with adorable puppies and kittens who are desperately in need of a place to call home. Please consider doing the right thing and giving a shelter animal a second chance at life before they run out of time. The least you can do is stop by and LOOK before you make your decision. Thank you for reading. more

He is very playful and our other dogs love him. He is such a wonderful puppy! Whether you get a dog from a private breeder or a petstore there is always a chance it could have problems. It's the risk you take. Obviously they stand behind the health of their dogs or they wouldn't give you the free vet visit for a check-up. The smell in the Animal House I feel is only normal too. Being in business that long and having dogs constantly in there would give it an odor. When we visited the place it was very clean. Go to the palmer park mall and take a smell behind those glass doors. It smells the same way. The lady who sold us the dog was very friendly and I would buy another dog there! more

Wonderful Family Member 12/18/2009

I got a kitten from here last summer. Went back for a puppy last month. Got a cute Dachshund female puppy. She is just the light of my life. Playful, pretty, cuddly. Can't say enough about her. If you want a great pet, go here. Pros: good service Cons: finding it more

Great German shepherd 11/20/2009

We bought a dog here after my sister did. She got a border collie who is so sweet, that we thought we would try our luck. When we got there, we had to wait because there were other people, so it took a bit longer than we thought, but it was worth the wait. We got the greatest and smartest German Shepherd puppy that you would ever want. Thank you Animal House for a great addition to our family. Pros: Knowledgeable staff Cons: parking more

great puppies 11/19/2009

I was referred to Animal House by another customer from our area. Although it was a bit far for us, we went up and looked. I spoke to the owner of the store and told her what type of dog we were looking for because my kids have allergies. She was very helpful in advising us the pros and cons of the different non allergenic breads, and then offered to notify us when some were there. We went back up and had 3 to chose from- all slightly different in looks and personalities. We chose our dog and have been extremely pleased. The dog is very friendly and great with the kids, and although she's on the small side, NOT yappy!!:) Couldn't be happier. I'd definitely go back and have referred others !! Pros: lots of choices Cons: a bit far for us more

DONT BUY A DOG FROM HERE! 10/8/2009

My husband and I decided to get a dog for our children. We went to Animal House and fell in love with a sweet golden retriever mix. We purchased the dog. For the first day or two was fine. Once the dog got settled in all hell broke loose. This puppy was extremely food aggressive. Took him to Qtown vet hospital where the dog proceeded to by the tech and the dr. The dr called animal house and told the owner that this dog was not good for my family. The same day, I went and picked out another dog. She explained that she has never had a problem with any of her dogs and I was the first. I told her what happened along with the dog biting my husband. (We took my husband to the dr.) She gave us another dog. The issue was that the dog was more money that we had to pay out plus the drs visit for my husband. Instead of calling it even she charged me. The dog that we have now has problems. Doesnt want to eat, has allergys, and also has a unbilical cord hernia. Which is costing me more money to have fixed. It was brough to her attention but she never offered to help with her guarantee. She basicall said to me that I was stressing out the dog and its my problem. Please I understand that she sells her dogs for cheap, but they are all puppy mill dogs. Please dont buy a dog from her. You are only asking for alot of trouble and heartache. She doesn't care about her dogs. I really wish there was a way she could be shut down. Pros: There is none Cons: The facility is horrible! more

DO NOT BUY A PET FROM THIS PUPPY MILL 9/22/2009

My husband and I visited Animal House 12 years ago in search of Jack Russell Terrier puppy. When we entered the store, the overwhelming smell of urine and rank was ALMOST enough to make us run out the door. BUT - animal lovers that we are, we then felt we should look, and SAVE a puppy from this horrible place. We did indeed buy a female jrt, who upon her 1st visit to the vet for inoculations went into shock and almost died. She had a heart condition, and would have seizures whenever she was inoculated or was ill. It was concluded by several visits, to several vets - her health conditions most likely were from over-breeding...the casualty of a puppy mill. PLEASE do not purchase animals from this store. We loved our Jack her whole life of course, but she struggled with health problems, and that's just not fair. Please do not buy pets from them - help close their door - and the cruel treatment to animals they perpetuate. Pros: Cheap Pricing- which denotes POOR quality usually Cons: Our dog had health problems entire life / place was a sty more
