Best

Dr. Ying and the entire staff did such an amazing job and I am happy to say our pet has recovered from her wounds and is back to her old staff. This place is wonderful.

Worst

I sat in a room for 45 minutes waiting for someone to see my Chihuahua who had just been attacked by a big dog. Someone walked in the room and said oh I'm sorry I didn't know you ...

Devastated by Death of Little Bit at AERCWH Vet Clinic 8/17/2014

We had a tragic and deadly experience at Animal Emergency Clinic West Houston. Our dog Little Bit, a tiny Chihuahua, developed heat stroke while we were at the fairgrounds. I believe she had a hypoglycemic episode which left her too weak to pant effectively. Our other five dogs were with us and did not have any problems. \r The vet and staff at this clinic told us "Little Bit is the most urgent case in the hospital right now so she is receiving immediate care". However, this wasn't true and Little Bit died a few hours later. At the time of Little Bit's death I didn't realize what was going on. Later I figured out that an estimate is given to the owner ($1200) and if they pay it, another estimate is prepared for a much larger amount ($9400) and the staff is supposed to collect this. While this is going on, the owner is told FALSELY that everything possible is being done. Depending on the owner's reaction to the second estimate the pet will either be euthanized because the owner can't more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/7/2012

This alleged pet emergency clinic is really a two part sales pitch to take as much of your money as possible. Sadly you will not know that while you are being given the sales pitch no emergency care is actually being provided. You will be kept in an exam room while your pet is taken to the back so you will not know what is actually going on. After paying $800 in tests, then being offered $9364.93 in additional services I found out that my dehydrated tiny two pound Chihuahua was never even started on fluids. Sadly by the time they admitted this it was too late and Litlle Bit died. We are devastated and can't believe that after putting down $800 deposit our poor dog was not even given any treatment for dehydration and suffered for over three hours. If you love your pet stay far away from this place! more

DO NOT GO HERE 2/13/2012

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!. They take advantage of people in desperate times and their management and ownership encourages this business practice. We were referred to this place by another vet and the cost was astronomical and once we paid for everything the vet had the nerve to say ""oh if we knew money was an issue, then we would not have run test that were not needed"". NEVER EVER TAKE your pet here. more

Amazing 10/26/2011

The doctor and staff were very kind and expressed sympathy following our loss of our dog, Mikki. Losing her was one of the saddest experiences of my life. They were very compassionate and professional during this difficult time and we are very appreciative. The paw print they made for us, will be cherished forever. more

Very Compassionate Doctors and Staff 10/22/2011

Thank you for the guidance and compassion offered to me and my family the other night when we brought our beloved cat to the clinic. Our sadness & sense of loss runs deep, but I found surprising comfort in your very kind and reassuring note that you wrote us. more

The Best 10/18/2011

The Doctors and staff at the Animal Emergency Clinic of West Houston showed support and compassion for our little pet of 17 years when it was finally time to say goodbye to him. He was a christmas present for our children and was like family to us. The entire staff was professional in helping us through this difficult time in our lives. more

We really appreciate all that the staff did for our dog. All staff took time to explain things to us and answer all of our millions of questions. The are so caring towards our special guy. They are awesome and I will definately use them again if we need them. more

The most expensive clinic I have ever seen 6/4/2011

Went there with a sick dog who was hemorrhaging. Had to spend six hours waiting on the ONE vet on duty. My time was mostly spent trying to negotiate a cheaper care plan. The clinic wanted nearly $6,000 to care for the dog for 48 hours! Others in the waiting room had similar experiences. A woman who waited over five hours was shocked at a $4,000+ bill to care for her sick cat. My dog died less than two hours after treatment began! more

Very Happy! 2/15/2011

Every aspect! The doctors and staff were all equally attentive and exceeded my expectations! They saved my dog's life (diagnosed with HGE). I have never encountered such excellent vet care! I have recommended this hospitatl to everyone I know! Absolutely OUTSTANDING! more

Never Again!!!! 9/25/2010

I will never go there again. We have 15 year old cat we love very much . She is very sweet and very nerotic. Late one evening she started to urinate blood. So instead of waiting for the vet to open in the morning I wanted to take her to the West Houston Emergency Center.Big Mistake the Vet was rude and could have cared less because when she found out that we didn't want to run every test possible. She said ok and left the room , Never to return. We were told to give our cat one and a half pills two times a day for 14 days. 14 days!!!! I asked about a shot and the girl was like no the dr said this was all we could give you. You could tell the assistant felt bad about this. Long story short after 3 days of hell I took her to the regular vet and they gave her a shot for the 14 days. Oh by the way our bill that nite was 260.00 more

Not Happy At All!!! 3/24/2010

I sat in a room for 45 minutes waiting for someone to see my Chihuahua who had just been attacked by a big dog. Someone walked in the room and said oh I'm sorry I didn't know you were here. Well the receptionist put me in the room so he obviously didn't communicate to someone that we were there. The lady who walked in the room and said she didn't know we were there said that the name hadn't been changed on the dry erase board. Then I left my dog with them to have surgery. They said it was a 15 minute procedure that cost me $1200!!!! I was supposed to pick up my dog at 3, but when I called to see if he was ready they said they hadn't even started A FIFTEEN MINUTE PROCEDURE THAT I PAID $1200 FOR! So, I picked up my dog as 6 pm. I had to ask all the questions when I picked up my dog. At my vet, when I've had medical problems with my other dog they are very thorough with me. They would show me the x-rays and go through EVERYTHING they did and explain EVERYTHING I needed to afterwards. Here it was different, I had to ask all the questions if I wanted to know. On top of that they were supposed to check on a limp my dog had from the attack. Since I had to ask a bunch of questions, that one slipped my mind. I called later to ask about it and they said that I had to bring him back in and pay $95 for them to look at it?!?! WTF?? I paid them $1200 and they said they were going to see what was wrong with his leg, but they never told me and I didn't ask because that questions slipped my mind after asking every other question I could think of. So then they say okay you can bring him back and pay $51... yeah right. Well next issue was that they told me to start all his medications the next day (pain med and antibiotic). From 6pm - 3am he cried and cried. So I finally called and they said no, you needed to give him his pain meds when you got home. So basically since I followed their directions, my dog was in pain from 6pm til 3am. I am totally unsatisfied with the service they gave me there. I will never go back and do not advise anyone to take their pet there in an emergency. My vet handles things TOTALLY different and makes me feel comfortable and at ease with everything. Pros: What was not under construction looked great! Cons: SLOW, no personal service, didn't make me feel at ease more
