One of the most beneficial aspects of the rental with purchase option offered by American Truck Group is the fact that all payments are a 100% tax write-off. Think about how much money you would be able to save, ask your accountant if you have one, but please, do yourself a huge favor and call them for the details. They do have special programs for people with lackluster credit, however they also have a wholesale cash vision which has an inventory, close to 50 made up of Freightliners, Peterbilts, Kenworths, Volvos, etc.. more

Okay, the people that work there are very helpful if what you want is to get a truck. The company specializes in those people who want a semi and have bad credit/no credit. They have a selection at any given moment of not less than 60 trucks. They have a warranty which works. It is probably the best I have ever seen in the industry. My husband and I have been hauling for 29 years as of December. One last thing, the warranty is provided at no cost. The trucks they have are generally fleet trucks that have four to five hundred thousand miles on them. They are all DOT'd before they leave the dealership, again, at no cost to you. I was and still am really impressed with American Truck Group. more

American Truck Group has sent all of the current customers an email asking them to rank their experience while getting a truck somewhere, anywhere online. On a scale of one to ten I would give them a ten. Every department that I encountered was professional and knew what they were talking about. And the trucks, well let me tell you about their trucks, I would rate them a ten overall also. I did not expect to spend more than a few hours there. I ended up spending three days. I always try to see the silver lining in every situation. The silver lining in this was that they spent close to $8K during that three days on items that I wanted to be checked and repaired. By the way, they do that for everyone. Give them a try! more

More than anything else that stands out (besides the no credit program) is the selection of trucks that they have to offer. These are not shells of trucks or parts trucks or junkyard trucks, rather they are tested road-worthy rigs that are primed to start hauling, whatever it is that you have a contract for, immediately. What they are not is trucks that as soon as you leave you need to know in advance where the closest show is because it will not even make it home. And, since you can get your 2290, tag, permits, lettering/logo's and IFTA while you are there you literally can start hauling should that be your desire. Truck selection is everything! more

I read that American truck group will give you a second chance. That is true. but they will also give someone who has had credit problems and those who continue to have credit problems a truck. Most people, like myself, do not change bad habits overnight. This company realizes that and for many they will make more mistakes until they can finally earn enough to be set in a position that will help financially alleviate the results of poor money management. My point is that no matter how many times you have screwed up, American Truck Group will still put you in a truck. And, no, they don't take advantage of people with bad credit. They do, however, want to do business with them and everyone else for that matter. It took me 39 years until I finally started paying bills in a timely manner and began to accept responsibility for my actions. The great thing is that I have the means (truck) now to be in that responsible position. For me it was a wake up call and a lesson learned. more

I guess that should indicate what I think of them including my experience, which was awesome. To the staff at American Truck Group, I would like to extend a huge thank you from me, Barry Fox, my wife Catherine and of course the kids that you entertained while we were there with the kids movies and snacks. To all of the grown ups, this company made my kids so comfortable, even though they are very shy, that they now ask when we are going back to the truck place. You gave my wife and I a fighting chance to keep our company alive and with a lot of hard work which will always be ongoing, we are starting to see success again. Anyone can do this with two things. One is to get a truck(s) and secondly is hard work. That is where most people fail. With American Truck Group, you will find lots of trucks and they will put you in any of them. The only true question is will you work hard enough? more

I joined American Truck Group's program in March of 2011. So I was a little surprised when I saw an email asking me to rate my experience. Maybe it was because I am a good example as someone who has had a truck for a period of a year or longer. The truck I picked out was a 2007 Volvo 780. It is one of the most reliable trucks that I have owned in the past 26 years of driving. It does get the best fuel mileage, and the tightest turn radius (especially helpful to deliveries in big cities. I should let you know that I have financed my past trucks with the usual conventional institutions and most of them can't even come close with respect to payments to American Truck Group. This company has no middleman and that directly affects your price out-the-door by approximately 30%. Think about it. more

When I was single, I was extremely irresponsible financially and otherwise. That lasted until I was about 30. Within 3 months, my girlfriend and I had twin baby girls, I was fired as the company I drove for downsized, and the rent was 2 months late. I realized that I needed more money, much more money than I was making as a company driver when I did have that job.I soon found out that my years of living irresponsibly did not leave me in a good position credit wise and I definitely needed credit (or so I thought) to help support my new family. What I actually needed was not credit, but a second chance. I found one with American Truck Group. They put me in a well-maintained Kenworth W900L with less than 500,000 miles on it. Instead of telling you a bunch of great things about this company, I wanted to relate my story because there are probably a lot of people out there in the same situation. Give ATG a call and you will see that they are the company that will help you. more

To those people that go online anonymously and take out their personal frustrations and failures on companies are childish and cowardly. All successful small business owners put everything into their business. You have to because it is only up to you. Then you get some wacko's writing untrue things about you online and man, all you can do is take a deep breath and realize that there is a very small percentage out there that makes A LOT OF NOISE for too many reasons to list. more

Great companies stay in business because they provide them with what they want. Actually, American Truck Group does such a good job in my opinion (7 years doing business with them) that I start to notice others trying to copy their model of success in places like the Truck Paper. They have not stayed in business for 13 years screwing people over. They gave me a good deal and I have recommended them to everyone that asks me about my truck. No one that I know or recommended has anything but a grateful attitude for the trucks they now have on the road working and making money. Some people just have not been taught that is how you get ahead in life. They expect someone to give everything to them for free. That is the type of person who spends time complaining behind a computer. During the first 10 years of me starting and growing my business I would not have ever had time to sit down and do anything that did not make money. more

I had a truck back in 2005 with American Truck Group. I had only driven a couple years for someone else but I was arrogant and thought if this idiot (opinion of person I drove for) could own a truck so could I. So I got a truck and failed miserably because I did not know how to do anything but drive and get paid and spend on everything except my business. I blamed American Truck Group at first for not *helping me* whatever that means. I guess it meant bailing my immature self out of a situation I created. I would have done things the same though and truth be told, it was not their fault and they had nothing to do with how I managed my business. They just put me in a truck. So, 5 years later, with some business sense under my belt I went back and got another truck. Running a small business is hard. That's why only 1 in 10 survive after 6 months. That is a Bureau of Labor Statistics figure. It takes a lot of hard work every day and night. But, as with my case, it is now paying off! more

I cannot say anything bad about this company. I also don't walk or drive around with a chip on my shoulder. I put some money down on a Volvo and picked it up one week later. My payments are much better than when I had a truck through the bank. It had a few problems once I hooked it to a trailer so I called the company and they took care of it in their shop. That was 18 months ago and except for routine maintenance, the truck has driven quite well. I want to add that the people that make up this company, maybe a hundred or so, are pleasant, helpful people. I even went to the casino with a couple of the salesmen one night. The three days while I was there, they picked me up/dropped me off from my motel and fed me. My salesman asked me to review the company after I left. I let it slip my mind so here it is Richard, thanks and in a couple more months I plan on getting another truck and I am going to put my Son in this one. more

Final Medium and Heavy Duty Truck Rule more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/18/2012

The President?s regulations on the trucking industry have been a road block to job creation. A recent Pew Research Center survey found that a majority of Americans (55 percent) believe the auto industry has a positive effect on the country. The same poll found a majority of Americans (52 percent) believe government regulation of business usually does more harm than good. Against the free market and public opinion, President Obama has levied three of the most expensive regulations ever against the U.S. trucking industry. Combined they cost over $10 billion. Call American Truck Group and ask them what they are doing to fight the Obama administration! more

As an American Truck Group customer I want my friends in the community to *get* how important this election truly is...\r \r The EPA is still conducting studies that environmentalists hope will someday justify draconian regulations on fracking. Enter Obama's Transportation Department. By suddenly reinterpreting a 50-year-old rule that limits truck drivers to 11 hours on the work site at a stretch, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has delivered an unexpected victory for environmental activists.\r \r Truckers on drilling sites spend hours each day waiting around until one rig or another needs water or sand. This is why, ever since the 11-hour trucking safety rule was adopted in 1962, truckers who haul water and sand to drilling sites have been exempted. There is no issue of road fatigue, the focus of the 11-hour rule. The Transportation Department's reinterpretation eliminates this exemption, disproportionately affecting sites where fracking is employed. Voila - environmental regulation without the hassles of justifying it scientifically, as would be required for an EPA action. more

Think about this, the less you can earn for your family, the more you will have to depend on the Federal government and once that happens, they have you in their pocket. Socialism lives! more

The mechanics at American Truck Group are outstanding mechanics. Someone told me once after the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded in 1986 that NASA had the most educated, intelligent engineers and mechanics in the world. They also had an unlimited budget and even with all of the resources NASA has at hand, something happened. It was an o-ring! I certainly don't work for the space agency, but I know that things can go wrong with my truck as it is a mechanical being used to transport massive amounts of weight. To all my fellow American Truck friends, remember this when it is cold or raining or whatever otherwise you could end up a tragedy too! Always maintain your vehicle. more

My family has done business with the family who operates American Truck Group for close to twenty years. When the business idea changed from talking about it to actually doing it, none of the principles changed. They knew that their customer base (sub-prime) had never really managed their money well enough to sustain a lasting business. The objective was simple and any decisions were always (still are) ethically based. Again, after 20 years you get to know people pretty well. My sincere congratulations to everything it took and that you accomplished. With warm regards, I am sincerely, Argus. more

Education (how to run a small business) is great for truckers, but what they really need to know is how the current administration is increasing federal regulations to the point of killing off mom and pop owner operators. I have been a Democrat my entire life, but this guy is going to put me out of business. Every day there is some new regulation that further tightens the noose around our necks. So, educate yourself before this election. You may not have another four years to do so. more
