I have been to the restaurant 5 times now. Each and everytime I have been there the bus boy was doing most of the work for all the tables. The wait staff is rarely visable....and more often than not outside smoking....the bartender Marie I noticed never washes her hands after this, and trying to get a drink from her is like pulling teeth. I've heard other people in the restaurant complaining about the service, yet admitting that the food was the only reason they came. I think the business would be increased tremendously with bartenders that were on top on their work and had a great personality. The wait staff ALL OF THEM need to be retrained. I hate to say it but you recieve better servce at the Olive Garden..I hope the owner realizes the need for better bartenders and servers, because the food is great, but she is losing business because of this. I will say one thing positive about the staff....they are all somewhat attractive. The holiday season is fast approaching which means increased potential for profits....but NOT with the current staff.......Delia, your customers would generously appreciate a change in service...especially at the bar. I am planning a work party soon for Christmas for about 15 people...right now I do not think Marie, Patrick and the tall dark haired waitress could handle such a party succesfully. Pros: The food. i guess we were there the same night!\r She did have a frown - even though there were customers there.\r My dirty plates and empty glasses stayed on the table for a very long time even though the place was not crowded. Maybe they need a class on how to treat customers for the owners, staff, and bus boys oh forgot did not see one of those. more

Hello as if the owner did not write the third comment!\r Make sure you are there when the owner is in a good mood otherwise you have to look at her FROWN on her face. Service is in need of help - I saw patrons cleaning their own tables. I agree loud man swearing at bar most frequent often, he was there when I was. Dirty plates and glasses stay on the table for a long time. Waitresses always seem to be outside taking smoking breaks instead of waiting on their tables. Bus boys not sure if there is one. more

Abruzzo's is the closest thing to home cooking that i very had. Service was great, everything that we order was very fresh. Been looking for a restaurant like this for 40yrs. Just like Ma Ma used to cook.. Going to go at lest once a week from Orland Park. Worth the drive. Pros: The Best Cons: no more

Abruzzo's is my favorite place to eat! I love the pasta and especially the ravioli's! I think they are #1!!! Plus the staff is really nice and I enjoy the atmosphere. Every experience I have one is better than the next! more

MY WIFE AND MYSELF HAD DINNER AT ABRUZZOS ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE ONLY REASON WE WENT A SECOND TIME WAS TO VALIDATE OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE , THE PORTIONS WERE SMALL, AND ANY TRUE ITALIAN COULD TELL THE SAUCE CAME FROM A CAN, AS IT HAD A TIN TASTE AND WAS VERY BITTER.\r AS FAR AS THE AMBIANCE WE WERE QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE, A ""LOUD""LARGE MAN SAT AT THE BAR WITH EVERY WORD BEING OBSCENITIES, PUFFING ON A CIGAR!! AFTER ILLINOIS PASSED THE NO SMOKING BAN!!!..SEEMS THE OWNERS FEEL THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW. This restaurant is a cozy family oriented neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Melrose Park.\r It also has a banquet facility of up to 75 in the back room. The pasta dishes are excellent, always cooked to your liking. You will be able to choose the pasta you want with the type of sauce. They also have specials available! The food is fresh and authentic southern italian. Best baked clams and calamari this side of Italy. The chicken dishes are delicious, (melt in your mouth chicken in lemon sauce) Eggplant rollatini are served with a marinara sauce this dish is a specialty along with the stuffed artichokes; both of these dishes are so tasty that you will want to return to Abruzzo's over and over again! Service is great, wine selection is large. Delia Abruzzo the owner is always present and can assist with the wine selection. Well worth the drive in from the city or surrounding areas.
