AWESOME COMPANY FROM START TO FINISH 8/24/2011

WE HAVE AN EIGHT WEEK OLD BABY IN OUR HOME AND AT AROUND 1AM I WOKE UP SWEATING AND I WENT TO MY THERMOSTAT AND FOUND THAT IT WAS 83 IN OUR HOUSE. I WOKE MY HUSBAND UP AND TOLD HIM SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH OUR AIR CONDITION HE LOOKED IN THE PHONE BOOK STARTED CALLING ANY AIR CONDITION COMPANY THAT WOULD ANSWER THERE PHONE AFTER CALLING ABOUT 15 DIFFERENT COMPANIES WITH NO ANSWER OR NO RETURN CALL AT 1AM A REALLY SWEET GIRL FROM ABA APPLIANCE CALLED US BACK (I AM NOT SURE WHAT HER NAME IS) BUT SHE WAS VERY PROMPT AND VERY NICE SHE TOLD ME SHE WOULD HAVE A TECHNICIAN TO OUR HOME BY 2:30 AM. I AM IN A FRANTIC BECAUSE WE HAVE A BRAND NEW BABY AND IT IS GETTING HOTTER BY THE MINUTE. SHE HAD A TECHNICIAN OUT TO OUR HOME WITH ONE HOUR. WHEN MY HUSBAND ANSWERED THE DOOR THE GUY TOOK HIS HAT OFF BEFORE IN WALKED INTO OUR HOME AND HE ALSO PUT ON THE THINGS ON HIS FEET SO HE WOULD NOT GET OUR FLOORS DIRTY. HE HAD THE BEST MANNERS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. THE GUY ASKED MY HUSBAND TO DIRECT TO OUR THERMOSTAT. I AM NOT SURE WHAT HE DID THERE BUT HE THEN ASKED MY HUSBAND TO BE EXCUSED (GREAT MANNERS) WHILE HE STEPS OUTSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE AIR CONDITION . WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF HIM BEING OUT THERE HE KNOCKED ON OUR DOOR AGAIN AND ASKED MY HUSBAND TO STEP OUT SIDE WITH HIM SO HE COULD SHOW HIM WHAT OUR PROBLEM WAS. WHILE OUTSIDE HE ADVISED MY HUSBAND OF OUR PROBLEM AND THEN ASKED FOR APPROVAL TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THERE SERVICE GUY WAS CHAD AND HE WAS BY FAR THE NICEST SERVICE GUY WE HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. IT TOOK ABOUT ONE HOUR FOR OUR HOUSE TO COOL BACK DOWN BUT IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT ABA APPLIANCE PROVIDED US I DON'T THINK WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STAY IN OUR HOME THE REST OF THAT NIGHT . I JUST WANT TO GIVE A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ABA APPLIANCE FROM THE GIRL WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE TO OUR TECHNICIAN CHAD. THANK YOU SO MUCH. DO NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO STEAL YOUR $$ 4/25/2011

We had our AC go out on a Friday Afternoon, we called a couple of places and ABA was able to come out right away and give a ""Free Estimate"". The technician CHAD seemed very shady from the start. He checked our AC and stated that the coil was leaking and that because of some new laws/city codes that he could not replace or fix the coil because there is some new freon that is being used now and that all systems have to be up to code and be changed to this new stuff? Furthermore we could not switch to this new stuff inside and not switch the entire thing because the unit outside could not use the old freon? It did not make any sense to us and we had no idea what he was talking about. He suggested that we replace our entire unit due to this code issue, quoted us $4900! I did not feel comfortable with this because our home is only 6yrs old, I explained to him that I did not believe that our ac was completely bad and needed replacement because of the amount of time we had been in our home, he said that units are only meant to last maybe 10 yrs give or take a few yrs and beause we ran our ac daily all day long that was probably why it went out faster?? I did not feel he was being honest with us and explained this to my husband, we needed to get a 2nd opinion...my husband stated that it was going to be a hot weekend and that Chad claimed he could come out tomorrow Sat (8am-12pm) and replace the whole unit if we gave him a $2500 deposit right now. As much as I did not want to I trusted my husbands decision to go ahead with this deal. Sat came and noon came and no one had shown up, I called and they said techs were on their way. I cx til next day and as I began to speak to people about our situation I felt that I should get a 2nd opinion, well come Mon a diff company came out and added 1lb of the old freon to my system, injected my system w a dye to see if there were leaks and returned in 1 wk and stated there were no leaks in my coil or anywhere else. $260 and my ac was fixed. BUT, ABA felt that because I did not allow them to rob me of $4900 because I found out they were lying to me, they have the right to keep 20% of the HVAC equipment they ordered for my home so I lost $800 of my money! The manager refused to understand that CHAD gave the WRONG quote to benefit his commission and that I simply CX because I found out he had lied to me and had fixed my AC for $260! She stated he made a mistake and she would still keep my $$ because I had to pay their restocking fee?? I could understand them keeping this money had I just switched to another company that had done the same job but I obviously did not need a whole new unit, just more of the old freon! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY OUT TO LIE AND STEAL FROM CUSTOMERS! I CAN NOT WARN YOU ENOUGH!! more

I was told by a friend to call ABA because they were very pleased. I recently has my a/c in my home quit working. I called ABA and they were at my home within 3 hours of me calling, within 20 minutes of them being here the technician fixed my problem and it only cost 189.00. I am very pleased and will continue to use ABA appliance for all my home repairs... thank you to ABA for the customer service starting from the girls in the office to the technician who came to my home more

This company is amazing, I have called several times and a tech/one of the owners has helped me by walking me through directions with my thermostat over the phone. Also my husband has had to have several Ac units for his business and the have not only given us amazing service but have had the best deals in town. Poor service 5/4/2010

My wife called in ABA to evaluate a Whirlpool washing machine that stopped working. Tech claimed a new transmission was required and quoted $500 for parts and service which my wife agreed to with a check for a $250 deposit. Impression of my wife was that the quote was fuzzy and that the tech was guessing what she would ""go for"" based on our house vs. a true cost schedule. (Additionally, I cannot find a part for this washer from any online site that is more than $150 dollars.) I returned that evening, learned of the estimate and then the next day I called ABA to cancel order as the washing machine was purchased new for ~$400 years ago and the current replacement cost of the equivalent Whirlpool model is only $500. Subsequently I spoke with ABA management and asked them to only charge us for the one hour service call since the order was cancelled less than 24 hours after visit and the recommendation of the tech was illogical given replacement cost. They were unwilling to do so and kept the complete $250 deposit. I informed management of my view that this was poor service and would publicly recommend to associates that they avoid ABA. Management did not care and stood behind their ""policy"". I would avoid this outfit as they prefer to make a one time small transaction in their favor rather than have a happy customer. If you have any issue with them they are unlikely to care and seem to prefer to find new clients vs have repeat business from happy customers. more

We made the mistake of not checking online review before calling them. The quote for coolant was 500 dollars, total bill more than 700. And as usual the advise from the repairman was to replace the whole system. Lesson learned: put up with the heat and get a second and third opinion! Pros: 90 day warranty Cons: Very high costs for labor and coolant, not credible more

WONDERFUL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS 10/15/2009

I HAVE HAD HOME SERVICE ON NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED BETTER. AFTER READING OTHER REVIEWS I WOULD SUGGUEST TO GIVE ANOTHER CHANCE. THE SERVICE I RECEIVED WAS AWESOME. THE TECHNICIAN CHAD CAME OUT TO MY HOME ON A 100 DEGREE DAY, MY A.C WAS NOT WORKING WITH 15 MIN HE FOUND PROBLEM ADVISED ME ON WHAT I NEEDED. HE DID NOT HAVE PART ON TRUCK, SO ANTOHER REPAIR MAN SHOWED UP THAT SAME AFTERNOON AND MY CHILDREN AND I WAS ABLE TO SLEEP IN COOL HOUSE AFTER THE NIGHT BEFORE WE WERE UNABLE TO SLEEP DUE TO THE HORRIBLE HEAT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. FROM THE FIRST CALL TO THE OFFICE WHICH THE YOUND LADY I SPOKE WITH AS VERY FRIENDLY. Questionable ethics, take your business elsewhere 10/11/2009

I don't normally write reviews, but felt compelled to warn the rest of Austin about ABA. I called them when my A/C went out on a Saturday in 108 degree weather. They were the 3rd call I placed, and the only company that could come out right then. 20 minutes later, the tech arrived. He replaced a fuse I had blown installed a new t-stat. $50 visit charge, $80 fuse. Seemed high, but okay. next problem was the A/C just didn't get cold. Tech says freon was leaking. $200 to investigate further. Ok. After investigation, he says coil is leaking. to fix the coil is $1500. He recommends replacing the entire system b/c Obama's new regs require freon changes in 2010 and if my system breaks then I'll have to replace the whole system. his cheapest price is almost $7K. I politely sent him on his way during which he became more persistent. Monday another A/C company came out, said freon was low and every unit loses a small amount every year. No leaks found, he charged the freon and went on his way for $75. I would not recommend ABA under any circumstances. Pros: they were available Cons: everything else more

ABA Incompetence 8/4/2009

We hired ABA to install an air conditioner. This unit has broken multiple times within the last two years and cost us hundreds of dollars. This included a leak, which was due to faulty installation. (They said our dog peed on it which caused the problem, lol!) They also ""repaired"" a second air conditioner's fan motor. Within a few months the fan motor starting making noises. They returned and said it was a faulty part and would cost us over $300.00. We got a second opinion and it was a minor fix because the fan was incorrectly installed. In addition, there was a leak in the unit in the attic. We called them to repair it, but the leak returned in a different place in 18 months. We called a different service company and they said the drip pans were incorrectly installed. Cons: Bad installation and questionable honesty more
