I took my sewing machine in for a tune-up and was told it would be finished in a week. I stopped by in a week and it wasn't ready. I had to call several times before it was finall...

I stopped in to drop off a floor steamer for repair, it's still under warranty and the manufacturer advised me to take it here. I'm glad they did! Karen was so friendly and very helpful, within a few minutes of chatting she picked up on my interest in chemical-free cleaning. They have some great ""less-toxic"" cleaning products, not to mention so many many different vacuums, vacuum bags, sewing machines, etc. She quickly demo'ed one of their vacuums as we were chatting about chemical free carpet cleaning to show me the power it has and how it would lower the need of carpet shampooing. She also mentioned that they do free repair estimates. So nice to know there's a repair/supply shop for vacuums and sewing machines, I'd much rather repair things than add to the landfill and I'd much rather give my business to a local store than to walmart. more

Absolute horrible service. I called to see if they had a belt for my sewing machine and they said they had one, so I drove 20 miles to get the part only to be told they didn't have the correct belt for my machine. I was told they can order the part and ship it to my house so I don't have to drive all the way back to there store. A week went by and no belt, so I called the store and was told they were looking into it and would call me back when they had more info. 2 and a half weeks later I have yet to hear from them or receive my part. I ordered the part online and already received it before hearing anything from A-1 . I called to get a refund and she said she couldn't do a refund and that she had to talk to the owner for the refund. She took my number and said she would call back. I'm not sure ill get a phone call back. more

They were not polite, poor customer service, poor phone skills, and expensive. I will never go there again. more

No recommendation 6/28/2006

I recently had a problem with my Kirby vacuum and brought it into A1 Vacuum and Sewing. They gave me a free estimate, which stated that the gears on my transmission were broken and it would cost $220 to fix. They recommended that I not fix it, but instead trade it in for one of their vacuums. I did neither. \r \r Instead, I brought it to the new Kirby store down the street (which I did not notice previously) and got an estimate from them. For the price of a tune-up, they fixed my problem (which was not a broken transmission). I also replaced the wheels and the cord and my total bill was less than $100. I am just grateful I did not fall for A1's lies. PROS: none CONS: misdiagnosed my vacuum problem more

Not the best repair shop. 11/8/2005

I took my sewing machine in for a tune-up and was told it would be finished in a week. I stopped by in a week and it wasn't ready. I had to call several times before it was finally ready. When I had dropped it off, I had left it in its original box with all the parts. When I picked it up, they brought me the machine but no box. I asked for the box and they had to round it up but couldn't find the stryofoam packing. Instead they said that I should never store it in the box anyway. When I got it home and looked it over, I noticed that the free arm attachment was missing. Something I knew for sure was with the machine when I left it. They claimed I never left it but would look for it anyway. After a couple of months of continually calling and being put off I ordered a replacement part which I paid for. They wouldn't pay for it because they felt like it would turn up eventually. Well, I can't wait forever! I wrote a complaint letter, attached the invoice and hoped maybe someday they'd reim more

Wouldn't Recommend 9/26/2005

This business specializes in fixing your vacuum cleaner or your sewing machine. So when my vacuum cleaner stopped working, I took it in to have it repaired. They replaced some parts and repaired it for me rather quickly. But the vacuum cleaner only worked one week and broke down again. I took the vacuum cleaner back in to them, but they want to charge me again because they had to replace the part again. Needless to say, they are not getting my business again. more
