Superb work and atmosphere 5/9/2007

Alina is friendly and very knowledgeable about design the right hair color and style for me. They are not over expensive like many in LA for the same quality work. The shop is warm and welcoming. When I moved out here, was afraid I would never find anyone as good as my hair dresser from Florida, but this place surpasses my expectations. more

won't go any other place 5/8/2007

I came into the salon looking like a faded orange. I had dyed my hair red and was "naturally" letting it fade. I was so tired of everyone saying "it's strawberry blonde".. Alina sat me down and said "it's orange" I laughed. She's honest. I then showed her a picture of my natural hair color and in about two minutes said "not a problem we can do that" two hours later i had probably closest to my natural hair color back and a cut that both worked for my naturally curly hair and or i could straighten and still make it look good. She knows hair and she knows almost instinctly how to cut yours. I was in shock. I couldn't believe how good and healthy it looked!! I I had co-workers chase me into work asking me what i did to my hair and saying "wow i've never seen your hair down, but it's a shame you have to wear it up" The compliments kept coming in. And i owe it all to Alina. I'll definately be coming back. She's honest, a good stylist and very good businesswoman. I was no other word but ..happy! Pros: good parking, good area, good for cut and color, good prices Cons: I don't have any. She even found a little time to do my eyebrows..perfectly i might add! more

I only trust my hair to Alina! 3/26/2007

I have gotten yet another amazing haircut from Alina! I love going back to her salon because A) There is never any pressure B) I love chit-chatting with her C) She makes me feel at home, and D) She does a fantastic job with my hair. Originally, I was going to just go in for a trim, but on the way to the salon, I decided I wanted to take my long hair SHORT! I told Alina and she knew exactly what I wanted. I ended up with a cute long-ish bob with sassy layers and bangs! I was worried because I have asian hair that is super straight and I was afraid it would look too flat and un-piecey in a bob. I shouldn't have worried because I walked away with hair that had lots of movement and style that is definitely LOW-maintenance (a must considering I hate standing under a blowdryer for more than 8 minutes). Alina is definitely the best at what she does...I can't wait to go back again! If it wasn't for Alina, I would have boring, blah, hair! Thanks to her, my hair is FABULOUS! Pros: Parking, Friendly atmosphere, Great magazines, Refreshments, Very clean, Hair products for sale, Cute jewelary for sale, NO PRESSURE, Timely appointments Cons: No open on Sundays, but I understand, Alina has to rest her magic fingers! more

I only trust my hair to Alina! 3/26/2007

Alina is a hair miracle worker! 1/21/2007

This all started with what I'm sure many other woman have gone through...my boyfriend made a comment about preferring blondes to brunettes and me making a rash decision to please him. After going to another salon for months that had turned my healthy brunette hair to a washed out, frizzy almost platinum mess, I fearfully searched for a new salon. I found A La Mode on this site and decided to take the risk...After 6 months of going there now, I must say I don't think I will ever go any place else! My hair is now beautiful shades of golden to light brown and healthy looking now. People who have met me in the past few months have even thought that I was a natural blond!!! So all in all if you are looking for an expert in coloring, cutting or anything else relating to hair A La Mode is the place to go and Alina is your saviour! Pros: Comfy setting, nice staff, great service Cons: umm....I haven't found any yet... more

Professional, charming, and superb results. 1/17/2007

I've been rather spoilt when it comes to hairdressers. I'm from the UK and in general my preference is the more aggressive and edgy styles we have over there. That said I was very happy and actually rather surprised at Alina's willingness to take on a challenge (and a very picky customer), and indeed the success with which she did so. She clearly has strong artistic sensibilities and the pre-requisite skillset, but is also open to direction at any point. Consequently I continue to return to her (some 8 months after my first appointment), and have no intentions to look elsewhere. My confidence in her is such that I happily recommended her to my supervisor, and would do so to anyone with taste. I hope your experience is as enjoyable and sucessful as mine. more

Not only is she superb at cutting and coloring hair, she is a wonderful conversationalist (as all hairstylists should be)! If I feel like a change, she always has suggestions and my hair ends up looking great. I have no complaints whatsoever about A La Mode Salon. Alina and her staff are very welcoming and make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to look good and want a hair place that is not stuffy or pretentious. Pros: I walk out looking and feeling great! more

Not only is she superb at cutting and coloring hair, she is a wonderful conversationalist (as all hairstylists should be)! I have been a repeat customer at A La Mode for 4 years. No one else touches my hair except Alina. I love what she does & she has such a great personality too. My hair is curly and a bit unruly but she gives it volume, and literally transforms my lifeless hair. I have since moved and drive about an hour just to get my hair cut by her. I even dragged my fiance one time who made his hair look amazing! He regularly goes to Supercuts and gets butchered but when he saw Alina he has never looked hotter. Even my mom thought he looked cool and the boy went to Caltech. Alina is by far the best hair stylist I have ever met. It's such a treat getting my hair cut in her cute salon. Very unpretentious place and worth every penny! Pros: Service, Price, Location, Atmosphere, Friendliness Cons: Absolutely none more

I went back for a hair cut last night for the second time...I went with out a photo, I just explained what I wanted and I am extremely happy with it! Alina is always open to suggestion and greats you with a warm open hearted manner. She understands her customers and follows suit according to what is best for them and their hair. This is THE place for extensions! 11/17/2006

Alina was recommended to me after I had been complaining about my previous extensions that I took out in less than a month (the quality of the hair and the look sucked!) and she recommended this place! I cannot believe how great my hair looks now, before it looks thin and damaged, and it's so beautiful and healthy now and I get compliments everyday! I will only trust Alina with extensions, she truly knows her craft and gives her clients personal attention like no other salon. I also had my hair colored there with equaly fantastic results! Alina herself is very friendly and the salon is clean and roomy. She offers snacks and really pays attention to her clients needs that other salons rarely do. Definately recommended! Pros: quality, service, everything! Cons: none! more
