A Formal Affair

Here's what I DO know. I'll recommend ALL of my clients go visit with Maris (my consultant) and Hanan (my alterations lady) at A Formal Affair on Holcomb Bridge Road. I could not have been happier with the whole experience (which is high praise from me, someone who very rarely wears dresses - let alone heels.) First off - when my Mom and MOH and I showed up without an appointment on a Friday morning, Maris greeted us with open arms. She's cool & I'll always love her for it! I told her my price point and other details - and she immediately sent me in the right direction. She didn't try and up sell me or force me into a bunch of accessories I wasn't interested in. She listened, and then totally delivered! I ended up buying a dress and leaving with it! Yes ladies, you heard me - I left the store with a dress I loved - and it was on SALE too! God I love that woman! Then, when I had to have some alterations done on the dress (a hem, and sew in some padding for my non-existent ""girls"") I was extremely pleased:) Hanan (the alterations lady) is absolutely awesome! I'll be taking anything I need altered to her from now on - no doubt. She keeps your best interests at heart, and definitely knows what she's doing! Her pricing is great - and the service is fabulous. If I had any money - I'd put her in my will:) Seriously though - I don't normally do ""reviews"" because frankly - I don't have the time because most of it is spent working on other people's parties & weddings and such. (NO - NOT a planner!) But I felt I should let other brides know how awesome my experience was. My clients have called me ""The patron saint of Budget Brides"" - and now, as a bride - I pass the story of my experience @ A Formal Affair to you. Do with it what you will. One final note - NOT something AFA told me, but something I already knew. DON'T go wedding dress shopping with all your makeup on. How would you like it if strangers came over to your house and wanted to try on all your white clothes with tons of foundation, mascara and gosh knows what else on... Just a point to ponder... Once you pay for it - wear all the makeup you want:) more

They have large fitting rooms just for the larger girls. For all of us larger ladies out there, there is hope!! more

This has to be the best Prom Store ever!! My kid sister is big boned and a bit larger than the average teen. I love my sister and was a bit nervous about Prom shopping with her, I did not want her to be disappointed. She did her research ......smart girl! She had browsed at different shops and asked me to take her to this particular store. She was soooo right! This shop has the largest plus size prom selection that I had ever seen. I wish they were around when I was a teenager! more

I purchased a wedding dress at David's Bridal that I liked and because it was on sale after getting it home I realized I had settled for a dress that I didn't really love. I found a designer in a magazine that I liked and A Formal Affair in Roswell carried this line. When I called them to see if any of these dresses might be in my price range I got an honest answer that they were not but to come in and look at some of the sale dresses. I did so and was very surprised to find not only a large selection but a much higher quality dress. With Adanna's help I found a much nicer dress that I loved for just a little more than I had originally paid for the first dress. Take my advice and go there first they have a huge selection and will work with you to find the perfect dress no matter what your budget is. more

?friend convinced me to try A Formal Affair because of the vast selection. I am thrilled that I took her advice. My consultant, worked ?me to find the perfect dress in exactly my price range. I felt like I was being listened to - particularly important for someone looking for something ""different,"" and did not feel pressured to buy. It was a lovely experience and it was topped off with finding my bridesmaids dresses and the consultant offering assistance with my fiance's and his groomsmen tuxedos to match, and generally made me feel incredibly special. We were greeted promptly and were shown gowns that would fit what style my daughter had in mind. The lady was very helpful and made suggestions as to what other styles of dresses would also make good choices. She helped her on and off with the gowns and explained how they would be altered and how that would affect the look. more

We rented several tux's here. The staff was pleasant and everything was ready when promised. The suits were clean and fashionable. more
