My best friend in the world, my dog, trusted me, I in turn trusted VCA Animal Hospital. My regular vet had recommended them as they had a neurologist on staff that could perhaps discover the cause of my golden retrievers paralyized rear legs. I was given a tour, told of the 24hr Emergency hospital capabilities and lead to believe my boy was in good hands. $5,000 later the Dr could only tell me what he didnt have, not what he had. A couple nights later I saw that my boy was breathing shallow and his gums pale. I called the Emergency line at VCA and the Dr that was working that night answered. I explained his symptoms, told her he was a patient there. She said to bring him in right away. I told her I would be there in 15-20 mins and that he weighed about 75lbs and was too heavy for me to carry up to the 2nd floor Emergency room.
