Zinke's Shoe Repair

I left 2 pairs of boots at Zinke's yesterday. They told me they would be ready today. I arrive to pick them up - the woman can't find them at first. Then she finds them and says they are not ready as ""the machine had broken"". The tips of the heels had been taken off one pair and the front sole of the other pair. I asked them when they would be ready and they said either in about 20 minutes or Monday. I told them I need them today and would it be later than 20 minutes. She shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know. When I told her this was unacceptable she started to shout at me. I picked up both pairs of boots and left. Never will I go to Zinke's again. I got my shoes fixed and then two weeks later they came unglued.. when i asked them to try again they told me that i had never been there before and that they would have to charge me again.. they could not have cared less.... Pros: bad service Cons: bad bad service more

Recently when my husband went to pick up my shoes, after having them repaired at Zinke?s in Pasadena, he presented the clerk with the ticket; she looked at it and said that the shoes referred to on the ticket were no longer there. He told her that he had not picked them up and she insisted that he had and suggested that we ought to look around our home for them. She then confiscated the ticket and refused to discuss the matter further. He returned a few days later to ask them to look through all the finished shoes while he waited, and she refused stating that she had already done that. The staff completely stonewalled him from that point forward. The shoes were new and had cost $140.00. Of no concern to them was the fact that we had been regular customers for the last three years, bringing in a minimum of two pairs of shoes a month. I won?t even bother to state the obvious regarding the quality of customer service that we received because more importantly this is nothing short of theft. Shame on you Zinke's! What you gained in not taking responsibility for one pair of shoes, you lost one thousand fold in respect from your customers and community. more

Horrible customer service. I am attempting to reach them via phone as I type. The phone just rings and rings. I brought in two leather boxes, to have leather glued down on the sides. The lady at the counter told me they would be ready on Saturday. I arrived Monday (two days after they were to be ready) at 12:00 only to be told they weren't ready. When I asked why, she said they were busy. When I asked why she didn't call me to let me know again she said matter of factly that they were busy. Not even an attempt at an apology. She told me they would be ready after 3:00 that day. It is now Tuesday, at 10:00 am and I am trying to contact them before driving over and as I said, there is no answer. Phone has rang no less than 50 times. more

I heard from my sister's husband that this place used to be THE place all Pasadenians went to get their shoes repaired and altered... obviously, that was back in the 'good 'ol days' because when I recently went there to get my shoes repaired along with getting some inserts, I was first ignored (in an empty store) by the completely unintelligible almost non-English speaking woman at the counter. Finally after deigning to give me a glare, she gave a cursory look at my shoes and said she 'not fix them' (I had them repaired at another shoe shop in Koreatown the next week with no issues). I then asked where the inserts were- she gestured towards a wall and walked away. I looked for a few minutes and not finding anything got ready to leave. I was then accused by nutjob of stealing some of the inserts- when I held up my empty hands she just turned and went into the back room . REALLY bizarre and really unhelpful that they would hire such a horrid person. I'll never go there again. Pros: I still don't know it for a fact, but they might be able to fix shoes. Cons: One of the most useless people working there imaginable. more

The woman who worked on my shoes did half of what I asked for. The shoe she worked on was poorly sewn and very uneven. I was told the shoes would take a week and went back to find they weren't ready. After another week I went to find she had not fixed the other shoe at all. She told me this was because she worked part time. The front desk person was no help. more

They saved my favorite boots! My favorite boots were dying, Zinke's breathed new life into them by installing new zippers, refreshing the leather with a conditioning treatment, and polishing them up! Pros: Good Shoe repair at a good price Cons: I wish they were open later. more

this was my first and will be my last exerience with zinkes. they could not find my shoes when I went to pick them up, and after they finally found them they were not even done eventhough they were supossed to be done at 3pm and I was there at 4, after an insincre apology I was told I could wait another 30 min for them to be done. i come back the next morning, and they can't find the shoes again, I had to find them for them! not an isolated incident, the women in front of me had her shoes missing as well. no one was comped for their incompetence as well. don't know how they are still in business.
