Our service was great and the waiter was adorable. Ambiance was romantic and definitely recommended. For the music,,,I would recommend jazz or house and the people were cool. Port...

I went there for a pick up order. The place was packed with locals and there was music going-could be a fun environment. I had to walk through until I found the place to talk t...

You must be kidding. 3/30/2004

As other reviewers have said, this pizza is crap. The crust is a joke... Bisquick or its equivalent. And for those who know pizza, they know that the crust is the make or break issue. As a transplanted East Coast guy, I can say that this pizza is the pits. ""Chicago Style""? Not even close. more

Awesome Pizza, quirky place - Love it! 2/19/2004

One of my absolute favorites! If you're impatient or want a down-home friendly waitress - go elsewhere. 1)DON'T TAKE A BIG GROUP. Its dang small in there! 2)DON'T GO WHEN YOURE STARVING -Expect to wait during peak times 3)TAKE CASH! They don't mess with credit - why should they with such a following? 4)If you can't wait - call ahead and take home a pre-cooked (really half cooked) to finish in the oven. Pros: Homestyle deepdish, Divey and fun place, Oozes like lasagne Cons: , CASH only, Needs a bigger place more

so good... 2/6/2004

Zelda's is a Sacramento staple. Every pizza I have had is great, but the Spinoccoli is by far the best. I would recommend calling your order in and taking it home... unless you have a lot of time for dinner. But when they tell you to pick it up in 1/2 hour, make plans to give it at least 45 minutes. Pros: pizza, xmas lights more

Not really Chicago pizza 1/13/2004

As a former Chicagoan, I must tell you that the pizza at Zelda's is not really Chicago style pizza. A real Chicago-style pizza is a stuffed, pie-style pizza with two crusts. Zelda's pizza is a deep-dish pizza, which is a different animal entirely. The pizza is, however, quite tasty and worth the wait. The ambience is fun and funky. It's definitely worth a visit. more

impersonal and not worth the wait 12/5/2003

We went because ,like everyone else, we had heard it was a good eat. We waited nearly 2 hours for a seat and was given our nearly cold food by an unsmiling waitress who never asked if we needed anything or if our food was satisfactory. you want good pizza? Go to Straw Hat on Mather field. Their prices are the lowest and on Tuesday they are half price. The employees are always friendly and the salad bar is the best! Pros: prices, friendly staff, good pizza Cons: can be crowded rush more

we got lucky? 10/18/2003

My wife to be and I had a great experience. We called ahead spoke with Janine. She kindly took my name and said ask for her when we arrived. So we did and we were quickly seated, 30 min later after a pitcher and half of beer this lovely combo with half sausage landed and we enjoyed all but two slices. We had the last slices while writing this review......awesome. We got lucky? I don't think so. Pros: service, pizza, price Cons: lighting , wooden seats more

Are you kidding me!! 10/11/2003

This is the worst and most tasteless pizza I have ever had!!! The crust has no flavor and even less consistency, it crumbled in my mouth and tasted like day old flour! The sauce tasted like tomato paste and they barely put cheese on it. We went as a group of 20 and honestly we left with about 5 boxes because people only ate one piece each and even then people who got there late were told to starve rather than eat the flour and paste! If this is what it is like in Chicago, remind me never to go there!! Pros: nice service Cons: sat our group of 20, after waiting 2 hrs , THE FOOD STINKS more

YUCK! 10/11/2003

I had heard about how great this place was, but WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT! The food was AWFUL and by the time they found a table for us I was STARVING and it was still terrible! People only go for the name, the pizza is not worth it! more

Super Delicious Pizza 9/6/2003

As a first time customrer, I found the waitresses to be quite helpful. If there is a wait for a table, they will greet you at the door before seating you to offer a menu and will take your order even if you haven't been seated. Because the pizza pies are so thick (and yummy), they take 30 minutes or more to bake. That is why they want to get your order ASAP. They actually recommend calling ahead if you plan to dine there. This place reminds me of the pizza shops in Old Forge, PA. more

you either love it, or you hate it... 6/9/2003

I love Zeldas. The first time I went there as a kid I can remember the pizza looking weird but tasting great. The service canbe ver bad (but If you go often enough, like me, you know the good servers from the bad), but you can get it ""to go"" if you like. Cheaper than Round Table by a long shot. The crust is a cornmeal concoction, super thin and truely unique. The atmosphere is dark and campy (lit mainly by christmas lights), which I personally get a kick out of. Stay away from the salad and just get a pizza (and a pitcher of beer). What more do you need? Call in your oder before you leave the house, and you MIGHT get your pizza in a timely fashion. Expect a wait...it's worth it! Pros: Pizza, Atmosphere, Price Cons: Salad, Some of the servers, cash only more

Zelda's Pizza is really terrible 3/7/2003

If you traveled all over the world and ate great pizza in New York,Chicago, Italy and Louisiana(Deno's Pizza, Lafayette, La) and then you eat Zelda's then you would be able to judge that their pizza is gross. The crust is Biscuit (bisquik Maybe) crust. Yuk. more

Killer Pizza 3/7/2003

The waitress we had could use a lesson in manners, no doubt. They act like you're lucky to be eating at their table, so just put up with the ATTITUDE. ""What do you want?"" is probably not the best way to approach your customer if you have any desire for a tip. Regardless, the pizza is awesome......some of the best I've had. And I'm a big pizza fan. The prices are very reasonable and the pizza to die for so I, for one, will be more than willing to put up with the ornery waitresses. more

Best Pizza Ever 2/20/2003

I've had a lot of pizza during my lifetime, but Zelda's is the best in Sacramento and as far as I'm concerned the world. I recommend the Spinoccoli. They have so much variety in toppings it can boggle the mind. The only 2 things that are lacking are the salads (there are more types of lettuce that iceberg) and the service isn't so hot, but the pizza is worth anything. I'll be sad when I have to move out of the neighborhood, but I'll come back an ofter as I can for their pizza....mmmm good stuff. Pros: Reasonable Prices, Fabulous Pizza, Funky Atmosphere Cons: So so service, Not much seating, Order before seating more

Nastiness 2/10/2003

My pizza was both soggy and raw. I will never go back there again. more

Native Sac Knows Best! 1/15/2003

Have lived in Sac since 1959, so trust me, I've tried THEM ALL. AND am a certified Pizza Lover, at least once per week, often more. ZELDA'S IS THE BEST PIZZA IN CALIFORNIA, let alone Sacramento. You don't know how lucky you are if you go there. The unique ambiance takes you far, far away from chain restaurant blues. Worth the wait. This is the stuff dreams are made of. Only reason they don't get a 10 is because they don't care about their salad quality. Pros: experience, Real Chicago, Portions Cons: parking more

I didn't see addresses 11/30/2002

""Amazing how all of the bad reviews for Zeldas come outta the burbs. The land of chain stores, pre-packaged food served by uniformed personell in emblasoned cardboard boxes. "" I can't help but comment. How do you know? Do you see peoples' home address & we can't? *just shaking head emoticon* I love independant restaurants, but I moved to the ""BURBS"" to get away from attitudes like yours. THERE IS NO COMPETITION! GROW UP! Zelda's good food LOUSY service! Pros: good food, different Cons: tiny, bad service more

The Best- No Doubt! 11/27/2002

Zelda must be a gypsy with a magical spice that she blends into each pizza, it's the best. Is the secret in the sauce? You decide. I love everything, the sauce, the crust, the, the, everything! Pros: Inexpensive, Excellent Pizza, Friendly Service Cons: Crowded at times, Parking, Only One Zeldas? more

Zeldas rocks! 11/27/2002

I am from Sacramento but have been living in Seattle for the past two years and the only thing I truly miss is Zeldas pizza. This pizza truly has to be the best I have ever had anywhere. The pie style crust and fresh ingrediants are heavenly. My favorite pies are pepperoni and sausage (the sausage is spread out on the pizza like a patty) and the veggie supreme with extra garlic. It is hard to desrcibe the actual style and taste of the pizza but it is definately worth waiting the 45 minutes it takes to cook them. Too bad they cant ship me one or I would be enjoying one right now! more

It doesn't get any better than this 11/19/2002

Absolutely the best anywhere in the USA. I would air express this pizza to my house if they would let me. If I am within 100 miles I go for pizza. And I eat a LOT of pizza. Cons: limited parking more

Zeldas is a no no. 11/17/2002

This place has the wost service and the rudest waitresses on the planet. Service is way too slow and pizza is way too expensive. Pros: good pizza, close to my house Cons: rude wait staff, slow service, rip off more
