Editorial review from Citysearch 6/30/2012

I have had good experiences at Zabor's. Paul is direct and to the point, and he has been working on bikes for decades. It makes me laugh to think of some squid going into the shop and trying to tell Paul how to do his job! They wouldn't have a great experience. I've been riding for 40 years; I respect him and he respects me. It works out fine.\r Paul has downsold me several times (""I've got the new model of that tire, but the old one's just as good and costs less."") His repairs have always been good and priced as quoted. It gives me the willies to consider taking my bike to Woods service. more

How does he stay in business? 1/30/2012

Look, i understand that shops have expenses and need to make money to stay in business, but, i'm a savvy person when it comes to bike stuff, I do my research and i know how much i could get the same parts online for. Paul was trying to make at least a 100% markup on the parts i needed for my bike. Then he wanted to charge me 85 per hour. In conclusion, a tuneup for my bike would have cost me about $650!!! not to mention he truly is as rude as his reputation states. I figured i'd give it a shot, but ultimately, i called the guys at Xtreme Supermoto (xtremesupermoto if you're looking on google, i found them on CL..) and had the same work done for about $350 and he didn't mark up the parts very much and was incredibly receptive to all of my issues, and even threw in some things for free just because he saw that they needed to be done. He is affordable, FAIR, and a cool guy in general. I will definitely refer my bike club to Mitch at Xtreme over Paul Zabor any time someone needs something. Sorry Paul, good luck with your business, you're bad reputation definitely precedes you! more

If you don't like them... 10/18/2011

Went to get my tires replaced after a blow out. They also replaced the rear brake pads while they were at it. I didn't have to bother asking for prices because I know they are very fairly priced. I always ask about pricing anywhere else because I don't like getting ripped off. Yes Paul is blunt and to the point. People that are a little to self involved may consider him rude but don't worry, there are many con-artists at there willing to stroke your ego and pad your bill. He even ordered me around to get the bike unloaded out of the truck and on to the lift. He even barked but that is the best way to get stuff done in my book. All the work was down 4 hours after dropping it off but I was lucky and got them at the beginning of the work week. more

clueless 10/2/2011

Worse shop in Austin. I was having a bearing pressed out of a rim and they cracked the hub because they have no clue what they are doing. They pressed the bearing out at an angle. They then blamed it on me saying the rim was in poor condition. They did not even offer to help with it or anything. If you screw up at least fess up to it. I would never trust them to do anything. more

Best motorcycle repair shop in town! 8/2/2011

Discovered Zabor's about 4 years ago. Paul took one look at my Honda 750 Magna and told me someone had put an oversized front tire on my bike (Wood's Honda). After a full look over, new front and rear tires, full brake job, new front rotor and discs, new rear sprocket, new chain, new front seals for my shocks came in for under $900. New bike that I ride every day unlike most. Been back 3 times since and never disappointed. It is a no BS place though. I know this place is way cheaper than other shops and their work is superior. more

Rude?!! 4/29/2011

Having recently moved to Austin, it takes some time to find service folks for various item - especially if it's related to motorcycles. I was a little hesitant about going to Zabor's after reading some of the review & comments on the web, however the folks that had praise for them seemed to fit my personality more and I thought i'd give them a shot. I AM IMPRESSED!! Yep, Paul was straight & to the point, no BS, no coddling. Just straight forward facts, then get you in and right back out. I'll recommend Zabor's to any biker...but if you're only a poser, I'd recommend you go hang out at the dealership & get stroked. Some love to ride, others just wanna hang out!\r Thanks for the great work Paul. more

Horrible customer service 4/29/2011

It is unbelievable how rude and unprofessional these people are. I can't believe people really tolerate giving these people money just to be treated so badly. I will not use this business again. more

Horrible. 11/3/2010

I brought in a bike years ago and this guy was a real jerk. ""We don't normally work on this sort of crap"" type elitist attitude, wouldn't give me even a guess as to how long it might take to clean the carb and tank out, horrible service. 2 and a half weeks and hundreds later (no parts were needed) , bike was done. I was just happy to get it back at this point. Within 50 miles it was acting up the same way again, plus there was a new gas leak where none had existed before. When I called about it, the guy said it couldn't have possibly been their fault and had an ""oh well too bad"" attitude. I could not overemphasize how folks should STAY AWAY from this a$$hole. I nearly put a cinder block through the window as a result of such a crappy experience. more

very professional 9/16/2010

I got in this mornig at 8am hoping to have my rear brake fixed on my sv650. I had called ahead the day before and he knew exactly who I was once I told him the type of bike I had. \r \r I needed an inspection and a turns out a new rear tire to pass inspection. Not to mention my rear brake pads replaced. I walked down to waterloo for breakfast, came back an hour later and all was complete. Great price, good work and a few helpful tips as I walked out the door. This guy is no bs; if you want professional service on your bike the is the guy to take it to. Could not recommend enough. more

HONEST, fast, reasonable price 7/30/2010

Ive been told that Paul Zabor is rude. There are even some reviews here that say that, so I was a little hesitant to come in. But, wow, I'm VERY glad I did. Yeah, he's very matter-of-fact and to-the-point. But I appreciate that. I guess it could be considered rude, but it definitely is not. I was in need of a new chain on my Kawasaki, it was getting kind of stiff. Woods quoted me $130 in labor and almost $300 in parts, which had a 2-10 day lead time. I walked in to Zabor's, explained the problem, and an hour and a half later, I had a brand new shiny chain for less than $120 (including labor). The chain is the same stock chain Woods was going to install, too. He then took the time to explain the best practices for chain maintenance. As I was about to leave, he told me he found some other things wrong/out of adjustment that he fixed for me. For free. I know where I'm going next time my bike needs some love. I can't recommend this guy enough. Pros: Honest, very fast, great prices, knowledgable more

Great shop - fast, honest, good prices are a bonus 6/11/2010

I came in off the street with my 2001 Honda Nighthawk 750 that I bought a month ago. Paul knows this motorcycle very well. He had the tires I needed in stock, did the brakes and noticed some bad bearings; replaced those too. He inspected it too, all at a great price. He worked on it right away. I've owned a car repair shop and Zabor's does it the right way. Pros: Friendly, Very Knowledgable, Fast, Good Prices more

Paul's the Best - 5 yrs running 10/3/2009

from the time 5 yrs ago, when I brought Paul my kawi 750 for fresh tires. To now, as my 08 Concours 14 sits at his shop waiting for pickup by the salvage pool (Thanks to the A-Hole drunk driver at Rundberg and I35 - Who left BTW); Paul has been an asset. from great prices, and service, to sound advice and diagnostics, he's been able to do everything I've needed from a bike mechanic. He's had his hands on, and in, my Nighthawk, 750s, zrex, 98 Connie, and 08 Connie. Paul runs a no nonsense, professional, RESULTS BASED Shop, in a city where too many bike owners Feel the need to be stroked, coddled, and worshiped for riding a BMW, Ducati, Triumph, or other overpriced/target marketed brand. You won't find carpet, plush seating, expresso and lattes in Paul's waiting area. You will find well thumbed bike mags of every genre, tire inventory, and the smell of gas, grease, and fresh rubber. Paul tells it like it is, his no 1 concern has always been the safety of the bike and rider, and his second has always been reliability - ever since i've known him. I have been riding 30 yrs full time, 24/7 rain or shine, in both L.A. and Austin - I would never consider going any where else to have my bike repaired. Pros: Service, Price,Advice Cons: Be prepared to schedule appointment for work. more

I don't expect an a$$ kissing, just some common curtesy 9/23/2009

Every time I call, or stop by for any reason, I wonder who pooped in his toolbox to put him in that mood. Pros: Good work, fair prices and very knowledgable Cons: cranky, negative, unpleasant service more

Two Pistons Up 3/4/2009

I have used this shop several times and will use them again. Honest mechanics with fair rates and dependable service. more

Good shop, very knowledgable 1/30/2009

I brought my 125 two stroke cylinder to bored. Paul was great. He answered all my dumb questions, Im new to two strokes so I had some basic ones. Turn around was in the time frame I was told when I dropped it off. Cylinder came out great. Overall I was happy with service! Pros: Quick turn around, knowledgable and answered all my questions Cons: none for me more

Down to earth, Quality work for all your motorcycle repairs 11/18/2008

I have taken my bike to Paul Zabor a few times now and have really appreciated the customer service and the quality of work. These are no nonsense guys and a little rough around the edges but do excellent work. If you come into their shop with a chip on your shoulder, you probably won't like them. If you treat them with respect, they will go out of their way to make sure you are serviced properly. There is a reason why they are constantly backed up on work. It's because they are really good and honest. Pros: Knowledgeable, fair pricing, honest, quality work Cons: Usually takes about a week to get your bike back because they are so backed up. more

You are not paying him to kiss your a$$, you are paying him to fix your bike. 10/3/2008

This guy is a no BS, tell you like it is mechanic and they are few and far between. If you want to be stroked, go to Woods or CTH and let them rub your ego, but if you want your bike repaired and want to have faith in the work done, go to Paul. Pros: honesty, very reasonable prices, high level of expertise Cons: none so far more

Web Troll taking down local businesses 9/8/2008

I'm actually trying to use this service from City Search to look for repair work and I'm noticing a pattern in the reviews where a troll is leaving negative grades on several sites of local businesses. They keep changing their log-in name as it is someone who only leaves one review at a time. But every time they keep using the word ""rude"" over and over again in a very specific pattern. I'm seeing the same flamer on other businesses on city search. That's just not right. Pros: Good work more

Great work 7/17/2008

What can I say. \r \r Paul, the owner, is great. They do champion work. I will never use Woods Honda again.\r \r Zabors are fast, professional, inexpensive and friendly. They go above and beyond for you and my '93 wing is driving like friggin' new. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!\r \r Cheers from the Limey Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more
