If your wanting a nice western southern hospitality than this is where you need to go for lunch or dinner. They have several things to choose from besides steaks if you came to a steak place and didnt want that. Everything is very fresh and cooked/made in house. I came here today for lunch with a couple of friends of mine. We all ordered different things so we could try a little bit of everything. I ordered the Steak salad and it was by far one of the best salads I have ever had. The western feel in this restraunt makes you feel like your in the woods with a nice view of the mountains. The service is amazing as well. Very helpful for any needs you may have. Thank you for such wonderful service! more

First time visitor to YO Ranch Steakhouse 1/16/2012

My husband and I were visitors to Dallas over the past weekend and wanted to dine at an establishment that I wanted to try the next time we were in Dallas. Well, we had the opportunity, finally to do so with dinner at the YO Ranch Steakhouse. Everything from the salad to service were absolutely wonderful. Our steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the salad and sides were just fabulous. I now have to try and made the YO house salad at home! We have nothing but positive reviews to give and jonly wished we lived closer so we could be regular patrons. It was one of the highlights of our trip. more

YO - Best Steak in Dallas? 10/12/2011

Seriously. The YO's buffalo filet may be the best steak in Dallas. If it isn't, then it's right up there ... and their regular filets are right up there, too. And it's the best place in Dallas I know for game. I've been going there for years for lunch and dinner and it remains a favorite. At lunch, the daily specials are something else, and a real value ... especially the Beer Can Chicken (s m o k e y) on Tuesday, but also the meat loaf (yes, really) and the chicken pot pie (mmmmmmm mmm). For starters, I really like the venison rollups and the black-eyed pea sirloin soup. This place has a great kitchen, terrific waiters who know their stuff and won't steer you wrong, and a nice, upscale Texas atmosphere. Most of the waiters have been there for a long time, and that's always a good sign. The proprietor, Tony Street, comes from the famous Street restaurant family, and it shows in the food and the service. more

YO Steakhouse Delivers! 9/17/2011

I went to YO Steakhouse for lunch using a Groupon. Open room seating in earth tones, old time black and white pictures on the wall and a wonderful dark wood bar. The lunch menu had a decent selection and I asked my waiter, Charlie, what he recommended. He was very helpful in describing the dishes and when I narrowed it down to two steaks, he suggested the buffalo filet mignon. I also ordered the venison rolls. I loved the venison rolls! Tender venison rolls around a creamy cheesy center and covered in crispy bacon served on a spanish rice mix. I recommend the blue cheese dressing - very creamy with a mild blue cheese flavor. The buffalo arrived cooked perfectly - medium rare more towards rare which is how I like my steak. The homemade mashed potatoes, grilled shrimp and fall vegetable mix completed the dinner. Charlie told me about the YO Elite card, which gives you credit towards future dinner purchases and a generous amount to be spent in the month of your birthday. I look forward to going back to YO Steakhouse. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere pleasant along with well prepared delicious food. more

A must-try! 5/24/2010

I love Y.O., it is one of the best steak houses in Dallas and it really stands out with unique game choices like my absolute favorite, the buffalo filet mignon! (I get my turf minus the surf.) It is tender, sweet, and the portion sizes are great. My husband and I like to go here for lunch whenever we are nearby and the prices are very fair for what you get. Business casual at lunch, nice clean dining hall, superb garlic cilantro salad dressing. Love it! Pros: Full menu @ lunch, fantastic steaks, clean dining hall Cons: Parking sucks more

Fine dinning with a ""Texas Flair"" 3/30/2010

We left the Y.O. very satisfied with every aspect of our dinning. The service was outstanding with a smile. We enjoyed the homemade jalapeno cornbread. We ordered the seafood bisque soup followed by the grilled salmon fillet served with a delicious lobster sauce. Every bite was delicious leaving us to full to order one of many mouth watering desserts. Thank you for a 4 star dinning experience. We will be back! Pros: Professional and friendly staff members more

Great resturant for private parties 3/17/2010

The YO sums up the Texas steakhouse experience, w/out the sa 1/29/2010

As a transplant to Dallas; via Kansas City & Nebraska, I know a few things about steak! As a well traveled gastronomist, I was very pleased with my experience at the YO Ranch Steakhouse. Not only was it an authentic western ambiance, it was very educational, informative, & very informal. Very pleasing, given your initial impression when walking in. The wait staff is very knowledgable about wild game, wine and the delightful culinary complimentary relationship between the two. When I arrived I was directed to the bar until my table was ready. At the bar, i was delighted to meet a very professional bartender that treated myself and my party as if we were the most important guests in the establishment! This hospitality began before a single drink was ordered. Upon seating, my entire dining experience was in control of my server. Which I thoroughly appreciated as a first time guest. He guided me through the entire menu and specials and paused to thoroughly answer any questions we had! This was just the service.....wait till you try the food! This was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had spending money! Between the service and the product, I am a customer for life and encourage anyone that has not experienced the YO Ranch Steakhouse to do so!! You will not be disappointed.\r \r Sincerely,\r A grateful guest, Thank you! Pros: Five star experience in a casual atmosphere! Cons: to be honest....none! more

Great Great Great Food! 9/13/2009

This place is becoming, by far, one of my favorite restaurants in the entire state!! I've been around long enough to know a thing or two spottin something special when it comes a long..... and let me tell you --- This place hits the nail on the head! Their steaks are all very different and all very good. The Mac and Cheese is to die for. The deserts are mouthwatering. The history of the Ranch for which this place was named is unparralled. The only thing I don't absolutely love is the Mashed Potatoes... But my late husband loved them, so maybe give them a try and decide for yourself. Overall though, I'm tellin ya, this is one heck of a place. Here's a ""Thank ya Darlin"" to whoever's idea this place was. Yall do a good job so stick to your guns. Pros: Food, Location, Deco, Service, Wine Selection Cons: Not open for breakfast more

Darn good staek 8/17/2009

What makes a steakhouse in texas a true steakhouse? Well, go to YO Ranch and you will see. Lots of shoices in dallas for a steakhouse, but never will you find a finer example of what a steakhouse in texas should be. They also have wild game, staeks ( of course), fish and a full catering facility as well as party rooms for what looked like 200+. So weather you are a tourist looking for a great steak in dallas or just a local like me that love to pretend she is in need of tourist information on steaks this is a fantastic place and the price woun't break you either :) Pros: TRUE Texas Steakhouse! more

O.K. Steak House 1/4/2009

Very small bar area!! If the stools are all occupied, then you have a one foot space to stand for a drink. The location is great (West End Historic District), which has a lot of other bars you can go to before or after having dinner here. I had the Cowboy bone-in Ribeye cooked med. It was a ""good"" piece, not the greatest but ""good"". It could have been more tender in the sections that where away from the bone, maybe it needed to contain more marbling or to be aged more. But the section closest to the bone were to die for! My Wife had the halibut but we sent it back because it was way too fishy. NOW here is where Y.O. shows it is a great place; the halibut was taken back w/no questions, only apologies. The waiter then asked what dish would my Wife like instead. She ordered the chicken in a mushroom reduction sauce that was excellent. When the check arrived, I saw that the didn't charge us for the halibut nor the chicken replacement. The waiter explained that their fish is always fresh and never frozen. Hey, it happens. We where in Dallas for the NY Giants vs Cowboys game in December 2008 plus celebrating my 40th. Y.O. gave me a slice of their chocolate cake from their dessert menu; very good. I will be back! Pros: Excellent service, atmosphere, location... Cons: Small bar area. more

Amazing Buffalo Filet Mignon 10/14/2008

The buffalo filet mignon was the most tender piece of meat I have ever eaten. Grilled over mesquite medium rare, I literally was able to cut this fine filet with a fork. The meat had the most pleasant aroma of mesquite wood. The baked potato also had a strong mesquite smoky flavor and I learned that YO bakes their tators over mesquite for 4 hours. Never had a baked potato so good and I am not a baked potato fan usually. Grilled spinach was an excellent side dish. A very good wine list, I had a very good Texas cabernet sauvignon which pleasantly surprised me because I never associated Texas with great wine. Pros: Great Buffalo Steak; Incredible Baked Potato more

E-X-C-E-P-T-I-O-N-A-L 9/30/2008

we just loved this place. The service couldnot be any better. The food was delicious. This would be the first restaurant we will attend when come back to dallas next month!!! Pros: best buffalo filet mignon i ever had Cons: none, was a lil busy had to wait 10 min to get seated more

INCREDIBLY Overpriced. Mediocre service. 9/21/2008

By far the biggest negative item here are the prices. Approx $40 for a charred, fatty ribeye. We were in a large group and they recommended their ""special appetizer"" which was 3 pizza pans of something that looked inedible. It was cornbread with cheese, 4 shrimp, 2 small pieces of boar sausage, and tiny quail legs. It was $110!!! Tasted ok, but $110? My wedge salad was SWIMMING in bleu cheese dressing. Our server was a bit too glib. At least my martini was good but it isn't too hard to pour vodka in a shaker. Stay away from this place it just isn't worth it. Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Price, Location, Poor Service. more

best steaks in the city 8/22/2008

the buffalo is to die for, i love this place! love it ,love it, love it!! we go here several times a year and it is consistently excellent. more

Love everything about the Y.O., the food is superb, the service is friendly and the atmosphire is authentic Texas. It is like no other steakhouse in Dallas and that is what makes it unique!\r You gotta' try it, cause you are gonna' like it, Partner! more

Great steaks in town. 8/22/2008

The steaks are very flavorful and juicy! The atmosphere is great and the staff is fantastic. This is the only place I would recommend for fancy dining and it is worth every penny!!!!!! My family really enjoys The Yo Ranch Steakhouse. Pros: Thumbs up! more

Come live the Legend at the Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse 6/27/2008

The thing about Dallas is there are too many places that try to pass themselves off as authentic, down-home western spots. If you want the ""real McCoy,"" Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is about as authentic as they come. Owner Charles Schreiner IV is part of the Y.O. Ranch family located in the Hill Country of Central Texas. The menu reflects everything indigenous to the Lone Star State. If it roams the range, chances are you'll find it on the menu. There's plenty of steak, but what makes Y.O. unique are the game meat entrees like venison, quail, buffalo mignon and elk chops. Out-of-town guests will love the bucolic atmosphere with old photos of life on the ranch, ropes, saddles and other rustic relics. Head on down in a pair a jeans and your most comfortable sport coat, grab a beer, and soak up some genuine Texas flavor. Pros: food, service, atmosphere, valet parking Cons: self parking - that if you dont want to valet more
