Yakety Yak Denver

The Yakety Yak store on University used to provide professional and friendly service. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, so I went there in June when my parents' cell phone was lost in the mail. Within a week, they had to replace the battery and charger, even so the person reassured me that everything was in good condition. At that time, one of the staff members told me that he could fix my Nokia phone for $70, so I brought it in for repair a few weeks ago. Within an hour the phone started to display the same problems that eventually caused it to malfunction. Going back to the store, the employee completely disregarded my concerns and the person who told me he could fix the phone, he said, that it is probably the screen which the manufacturer does not make anymore for that reason. I wish he would have told me before accepting the repair. The other employee told me that he could not do anything I would have to call the store manager. Fernando was anything but service oriented, when he told me that I would have to make my way in during the week, because he does not work on Saturdays. He also would not agree to refund the money after I told him that the phone started to mix up the conversations, which was not the case before the ""repair."" Fellow DU students and alumns, it looks like this store continues to receive poor reviews for poor service, I wish I would have seen these reviews before going back to the store! My recommendation, avoid the store at all cost! more

WATCH OUT!!!! I tried to buy two phones to take to Europe this summer. I gave them my credit card. The first phone would not work, and they were going to give me another one. The second one could not be unlocked in time for my trip. When I told them I did not wish to take the phones, because they did not work, I was told they have a no refund policy. They finally agreed to a refund minus the unlocking charge. I never even used the phones or took them off their counter. They used to have several locations and are now down to one. I don't think that one should be around much longer. more

DO NOT GO HERE. I had a horrible experience bought a cell phone here and it didn't work then was told that I could not get a refund. The customer service was just as bad as the product. more

GREAT PLACE TO FIX YOUR CELL PHONE! I dropped my Droid X & got a ""pressure crack"" in it. Didn't break the outside screen, but broke the LCD inside. Thought I was going to have to replace it & pay the ""early upgrade fee"" & shell out big bucks for a new phone. The sales guy at Verizon (thank you Christian McLain!) suggested I see if Yakety Yak could fix it. I called, they had the part in stock, I dropped it off at lunch & picked it up after work the same day! I had also called Motorola, who quoted a little higher price, plus the $35 overnight mailing fee both ways & a week without my cell....getting my phone fixed locally & in one day was wonderful. I found the customer service was great, courteous, & I am one happy customer to have my phone fixed!!!! more

I went there yesterday to purchase a used phone. I asked to try the one I picked and it ended up not working. I should have just walked out after that but instead I picked another phone but the battery was too low to really try it in the store. Got home let it charge over, and this one doesn't work either. Now, I have to go back and exchange it (THEY DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS) and I have to pay a $15 ""restocking charge"" because they sold me a lemon. Since they only do exchanges I will be forced to pick another phone and if it stops working after 7 days they won't do a thing about it. DO SOMEWHERE ELSE THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! more

The worst service I have ever experienced in my more than two year's stay in the U.S. Yesterday I went there to unlock a phone at a price of $30. I was told it would be done by the afternoon. When I came back, they asked me to wait for another day, and I told them I need to leave Denver today in a flight at 5 pm. One of their employees PROMISED me the cellphone would be unlocked by noon. So I trusted them again and went to get my phone at 12:30 today, but was disappointed that they still cannot unlock my phone. This time, they told me my phone can not be unlocked until next Monday. It is ridiculous! I did not want to trust them anymore and asked them to give my phone back. You know what? They refused!!!!! I had a hard time to argue with the shop's manager as a non-native speaker of English. They were in bad attitude and did not agree to give back my phone until I agreed to pay $25. As a customer? I was very angry for what they have done to me, and I will definitely complain to BBB. more

I recently brought in my Xbox 360 for repair. I was told that I would be contacted once a diagnosis had been made. I was never contacted. In fact, I had to call the store on two occasions to find out that my machine had in fact been checked out, but no one had bothered to call me. Then, I find that the machine had been sent to another store across town in the denver area. I had to wait until it was returned to the original store for pick-up. more

These guys spend all day spamming craigs list. Can't imagine they are much of a business when they have to advertise by spamming a free site. more

I have and continue the have the best experience here. I heard bad things in the past so I stayed away but now the shop is now under a new owner. He is awesome and very knowledgeable about phones too. I spoke with him and he said he has done a lot to improve the place. The staff are all really nice and they will do everything they can to make your experience there a good one. I had my phone repaired it was done very fast and for a reasonable price too! I'm not sure how the previous owner was but it seems they have really improved the place a lot now! I won't go anywhere else. Pros: Friendly service and good prices. Cons: None, the place is awesome! more

If there were zero stars, that would be my option. Lazy, unreliable staff, terrible service. I brought my phone in to get fixed, paid ahead of time in advance of the part showing up, was told it would be fixed in a week, and after two weeks I called and they didn't even remember me. Then I had to call weekly for the next 4 weeks until the part came in. They finally fixed it, then the part broke again and they said there was nothing they could do about it. This place is a chop shop, and shouldn't even be in business. DONT GO HERE. Cons: everything more

I dropped and broke the screen my razr and verizon wanted me to extend my contract for another 2 years or charge me $300 for another one. I checked around and Yakety Yak was the cheapest I could find. They fixed it on the spot for about $60. Awesome service...will do business again. Pros: Cheap, Quick, Knowledgeable more

I dropped my new phone and cracked the screen thought i was going to be out all the money i just paid to get it but i was in luck i called down to yakety, and the staff was helpful and nice, they told me not to worry. I dropped my phone off and in an hour my screen was repaired and my phone is like new. more

I was able to go in and get help right away. I got a great deal on the phone I wanted and staff was able to help with all of my questions and concerns. more
