I travel a lot for work all across the US and there are so many places, notably in the South, that claim to have the best BBQ. Truth is nothing compares to Wood Ranch BBQ. Their s...

To me, the only thing that Woodranch does well is the tritip. Our entire group was diappointed with the the sides. We would have liked to see the beans and slaw fro the Bear...

Nice Place! 1/21/2011

The service was great very firendly and didnt let my drink go empty like most places before they refilled me! Loved the food and resonable prices! def. will e returning! more

Better than your own - sorry Dad 11/28/2009

The servers are professional and attentive. The food is outstanding! I'd recommend one of their salads, while my husband would recommend a meat dish. Our kids love the kid-sized portions - especially the mac-n-cheese. It's a nice place to celebrate a special occasion. Pros: The atmosphere and the food Cons: make a reservation more

This is highly reccomended! 10/8/2007

This is a high quality place to have a good dinner. It has very very very good food & drinks & appetizers & the bread is so well made & fresh too. The little bread buns has garlic on it, and thats why it tastes so good. The dessert is the bomb! That's the high quality stuff, and everything you get there is mouth-watering food, that you can eat for hours & hours. This is so well done that I give this restaurant five stars & its very very very highly quality reccomended stuff. Pros: Thumbs way up! more

Excellent Food 11/10/2006

Wood Ranch has VERY good barbeque and drinks...it has more of a sportsy feel to it...I would recommend this as a place to hang out with your friends and get a good meal...gets REALLY crowded during the holidays. Pros: Good food, nice location Cons: next to freeway more

Decent BBQ 7/7/2006

I've been to the Agoura Hills and Moorpark locations for lunch and dinner. I'd recommend reservations for dinner. The decor is reminiscent of a ""ranch / cowboy"" style with hardwood tables and chairs. Ambiance reminds me of BJs (casual) but for BBQ, which can be loud at times. The BBQ tri tip is not top notch. Having gone to school up in San Luis Obispo for college, there is nothing that beats Santa Maria tri tip (hint: Mo's has the best tri-tip, in my opinion with Firestone's at close second). Wood Ranch tri tip can be dry at times with little or no taste. Other than that, the chopped salads either chicken or tri-tip is decent. This place is not worth the ""9"" rating it currently has. I would rate this around a 7 or 8, at best. I'm critical of BBQ / Grill places considering of all the BBQ'ing and grilling I've done in college and having eaten at some of the best BBQ places in California - ""hole in the wall"" places included. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Tri tip can be dry at times more

Nice Place and Great Food! 5/31/2006

I have to say: Anyone that would give this place a bad rating is an idiot! We and all of our friends have benn going there since it opened and it's great EVERYTIME! Go there hungry, order a dozen free rolls, drink a 20 oz beer, and have a great dinner. Thats what Im Talking about! Top it off with a mud pie, and your ready to go! GOOD FOOD! Pros: great food, nice employees, big beers Cons: long wait, no reservations more

Awful BBQ 5/22/2003

Horrible, bottled tasting sauce that lacks smoke and is too sticky and sweet. The food is so uneventful and commercialized that I cannot, for the life of me, understand why it is always so packed. I guess these people have no idea what real, hole-in-the-wall BBQ should taste like! more

Horsecrap 2/6/2003

I couldn't believe my experience with this restaurant. I told our waitress it was my birthday. Fine. I ordered tri-tip medium rare and a sam adams (it was my 21st). She came back and said she was out of sam adams (supposedly on tap). I said fine, just give me some beer, whatever you have. She came back 20 minutes later and told me that she was also out of tri-tip. This is when I asked to speak to a manager because I wasn't about to drink a beer I didn't want and be refused the supposed specialty. How can you run out of tri tip? Why would you tell me you have them and then come back 20 minutes later and tell me you are out? She refused to get a manager and I paid for the beer I didn't drink and left. I suggest not attending this restaurant. Pros: awful service more

Good Steaks, not barbacue 1/19/2003

Nice place for tri-tip or steak, very enjoyable, but this is grilled meat not barbacue! Pros: Good Steaks, Reasonable prices Cons: Not Barbacue more

Bring your Appetite 1/9/2003

I really like this place and the fact that they have opened locations in south Orange county is a huge plus. Pros: South OC location, fast take out Cons: long waiting, no lunch more

Tri-Tip Salad is the Best! 12/7/2002

If you go here for a good steak--watch out. They have very few cuts of steak, mostly specializing in tri-tip, with Prime Rib only on the weekends. The prime rib is quite boring--much better at Black Angus. The tri-tip is very bland, too. HOWEVER, if you do not try the tri-tip salad, you will miss a quite original dish. If you order it ""to-go,"" request it tossed, because they use two different dressings. Pros: Tri-Tip Salad, Rolls Cons: Steak varieties, Bad Parking, Crowded more

sub par 11/11/2002

I was disappointed with this place. I had heard positive feedback, and I expected more than what was offered. The meat was over-cooked. Pros: not crowded Cons: bad taste in food more

Melt in your mouth prime rib 11/9/2002

Wood Ranch in Agoura has good service and GREAT PRIME RIB, but stay away from the one at Northridge Mall! I know several people, myself included, who had terrible service! How can you run out of prime rib, top sirloin and tri-tip, all in one night?! Pros: great prime rib Cons: expensive, crowded more

To me, the only thing that Woodranch does well is the tritip. Our entire group was diappointed with the the sides. We would have liked to see the beans and slaw fro the Bear Pitt (Mission Hills, CA). We actually thought the two restaurants should combine efforts. (Bear Pit doesn't serve Tritip). Pros: Tritip, Rolls, locations Cons: SIdes more

Imigod Tri-tip! 8/23/2002

If you're a fan of tri-tip like I am THIS is the place! The meat is juicy with a tangy taste of the BBQ sauce. I love getting the combo plate with their Babyback ribs. Yummy! Pros: good food, good parking, good portions Cons: often bad service more

Tri Tip Heaven 8/15/2002

Finally! A barbeque place that gets it. It's comfortable, with very good food at fairly reasonable prices. The tri tip is so good -- it's the best in LA. You have to drive to Santa Maria to get better. Pros: Tri tip, Cole slaw to die for more

Wood Raunch 2 8/15/2002

Strongly agree with mds02's opinion. The Wood Ranch restaurant that I went to was in Camarillo. I should have known it was a bad idea to go eat here when I noticed the the restaurant is right next to a Mortuary. Anyway, customer service was okay. A little slow, but some what polite, which could also deserve best acting for being polite. Btw, how long does it take get some napkins and how many people do you have to tell to get it for you? Hoenstly too much hype for WR on their food. Speaking of the food, don't try their barbeque chicken. Its really dry. Recipe tip for WR: Marinate!!! Don't just barbeue the chicken and spread barbeque all over it. I could have done that at home. My first and last time I wil go here!!! Pros: Steak was okay Cons: Bad Customer Service, Next to a Mortuary, Chicken is dry more

MMMmmm...delicious 8/7/2002

What can I say about Wood Ranch, it is incredible. The tri tip is tender and flavoral, especially with their very own tasteful bbq sauce. As for the side dishes, the mashed potatoes are really incredible. And lets not forget that you start off the meal with theses delicious garlic rolls that you just can't get enough of. All in all, a very good recomendation! Pros: food, price relative, family atmosphere Cons: not a lot parking, long wait more

awesome 'cue 7/29/2002

Wood Ranch is simply awesome. Who says you have to endure dining in a ""shack"" to get mouth-watering, great quality barbecue? Wood Ranch breaks from the pack with its upscale environment, high energy dining room, friendly attentive service and what my friends and I swear to be the best 'cue in town. And their catering is a downright bargain! Pros: Great Food, Good Value, Friendly Service Cons: Always busy more
