Editorial review from Citysearch 2/23/2013

I just moved in an had my concerns, however the complex had been re-purchased and has a new management company. They have been so great and helpful! I love it here and unlike my previous complex they have lots of parking! more

Windsor at Tryon Village- Inventing Policies on the Fly 11/5/2011

This apartment complex was amazing two years ago... the management at this place has run it into the ground. They actually wasted money on a speedbump they bought on the internet only to find out from the fire department that it wasn't up to code and had to be removed. Today, I went to pay my rent and was told that they will only take one check, not the two checks I was handing them. I've lived here for two years and paid my rent with two checks every month. I asked ""Since when?"" to which the blonde devil at the desk responded ""A Couple of weeks... we sent a memo."" A memo which we never received and I seriously doubt was even sent. If they are willing to accept one check... how is two different. Checks are legal tender in NC and if your going to accept one, then you can accept two... not my fault if your employees are too stupid to figure out how to work a computer. Beyond that, we had a problem with a ton of people from a nearby townhome come by and trash the pool this summer. I complained and the super-helpful staff here at Windsor told me ""There is nothing we can do about it!"" That's what I'm paying for... really... Beyond that, the landscaping covers deep red clay, which I'm sure is designed to ruin the carpets because they charge everyone that moves out 100's of dollars to replace the carpet. Also, all of the neighbors who have moved out have indicated that their ""damage"" bills are in the 1000's. They charged a neighbor to replace the fiberglass floor of the shower because it was slightly discolored. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!!!!! I would give less than one star if that was possible. more

These horrible reviews mean only one thing! 10/31/2011

Beware. I was also the first to live in my apartment and I will agree with others. The construction is cheaply done you can hear every single thing next door and outside. This is by far the worst place for noise. I could hear people talking, snoring, and watching TV daily. These are basic things that you should not be able to hear in your apartment but it was just like the person was constantly in the same room with me. The brand new appliances do not always function properly. I had to call many times about the fridge and maintenance never fixed it. They would come out claim they adjusted something and leave. There was also mold growing in the windows and their solution was to have me wipe down the windows daily with bleach instead of inspect and repair the windows or air vents. The air vents rattle constantly and the carpet was coming up at the edges from general use. The hallways are dark and rarely cleaned. the one trash compactor and the recycling cans on the property fill up quickly and trash often sits for a week or more until it's dumped, even though you pay close to $10 per month for trash service. Every year it snowed or iced, they will not shovel sidewalks and will put down such a small amount of salt. I had to call one year and demand they come back and salt the walkway completely. Generally the office staff was fine, unless you have a concern then they can get snippy. The best thing about this place is its location, close to shopping and the interstate. There are other places just as close and those don more

CHEAP with a BIG price tag! 9/1/2011

Unfortunately, we did not heed the warnings from reviewers on here! I wish we would have listened! We have lived here almost a month and the items that were supposed to be fixed from our initial walk-through have still not been fixed. Well, with one exception, I suppose... If you count ""fixing"" the paint-stained carpet from the previous tentants by PATCHING with huge pieces of carpeting all over the apartment. (The carpeting isn't even an exact match. Why not just replace the cheap carpet before we moved in? Afterall, we signed a 15-month lease; it's not like we'll only be there for 6 months! And, besides there are still some paint stains that were missed during the ""patch job""!) Even though moving is such a hassle, we still have a week to find a different apartment. The best thing about this place is that they have a one-month satisfaction guarantee. Of course, we haven't tried to move out yet, so I guess we'll see if they will abide by any of their ""guarantees"". Please heed the warnings and FIND A DIFFERENT APARTMENT COMMUNITY!!! more

Expensive Frat Living 7/28/2011

If you do choose to live here, live far away from the pool! There are people out there until about 2am playing beer pong and yelling. During the day it really is like a really bad frat house, loud and obnoxious. Not to mention the beer pong and cornhole setups take up the entire grilling area, there are PLENTY of grassy areas to do that, so that's annoying. The staff tends to be helpful but they are a bit snobby and a little pretentious. But overall i don't have anything bad to say about my experience with them. The hallways are asking for someone to get stabbed, raped, murdered, or robbed. They are dim, covered in cobwebs and every person that has visited me has mentioned how creepy they are. In the 2 years I have lived here I haven't really enjoyed a minute of it. The pool noise is obnoxious and the amentities and high rent suggests an upscale living experience. Wrong. Its like I went back in time 10 years and was back in the frat house. Make a better decision than I did and choose somewhere else to live. more

Nice place but they will nickel and dime you at checkout 8/12/2010

\r The good -this is a nice looking apartment complex. It is clean. It has a good location. The bad - The walls are thin and the neighbors and traffic are loud. At checkout expect them to nickel and dime you over their low quality appliances.\r \r At checkout they will tell you that you need to buy them new stainless faux panels for their fake stainless steel looking appliances that they claim can easily show very minor, barely visible, ""shadows"" in the finish. The apartment people will claim these shadows weren't there before and because they are so insignificant you would not have noticed them at move in even if they were. At final inspection you can expect the apartment inspector to immediately upon entering your apartment go over to the appliances and start looking for shadows. Our inspector told us they fine many people for this. \r \r These faux panels are not durable. The apartment people should have installed real quality stainless appliances and then everyone would be better off. Instead they went the cheap way and they will stick you with the cost of keeping up these low quality appliances. It’s win- win for them. By installing cheap appliances they saved money on the purchase and they stick the tenant with the upkeep.\r \r We did nothing unusual to damage these appliances and it’s questionable as to if it is damaged since the shadows are so faint. Windsor would not write it off as normal wear and tear. Sadly, there will be no justice for us as it’s really not worth legally fighting them or getting another opinion on whether or not a shadow really exists in the finish because the fees for legally contesting this equal the cost of the panels. So even if we legally win, we lose money on this.\r more

If you chose to live at Windsor at Tryon Village be prepared for the move out experience. Any small thing no matter how long you've lived there and if you consider it normal wear and tear.......YOU WILL BE CHARGED. $450 to replace the carpets in a one bedroom apartment after 2.5 years of normal wear and tear and no stains. They charge for every detail and are just out to get more money. I have 2 friends that said the same thing when they moved out, I wish I would have listened. Cons: Move Out is Horrible more
