I wanted to remove a Buck Stove and convert an unfinished fireplace to gas logs. The folks at WilliamSmith guided me thru the whole process. They provided the logs and he gas hook-up, and guided me in my search for other providers who did other work to complete the conversion. It's all done, and we have an attractive and warming fire at the touch of a button. more

Great Company!!\r \r My Builder introduced me to WilliamSmith Fireplaces while we were building a new home in Charleston, SC. After working with this company, we decided to upgrade from the ""builder grade"" fireplace recommended by our builder to a gas fireplaces & logs recommended by WilliamSmith Fireplaces. \r \r BEST DECISION we ever made. After seeing the fireplaces in use, we would not have been happy with the builders recommendation. The fire box was to small for the room and gas logs were not the best looking. \r \r Thanks to WilliamSmith Fireplaces we have a great looking home! Great Customer Service\r After calling around to several businesses about a fireplace installed by my builder - WilliamSmith Fireplaces came out to see if they could service my fireplace. The Company used by my builder to install the fireplace would NOT SERVICE THEIR OWN PRODUCT. \r \r The Service Technician arrived on time as scheduled and performed the necessary maintenance even though his Company did not install my fireplace. \r \r We are In process of replacing both ""builder grade"" fireplaces in our home with WilliamSmith Fireplaces recommended products. Great Experience and Exceptional Work\r Had WilliamSmith Fireplaces build an Outdoor Kitchen and Fireplace in our backyard. Project was completed on time, on budget with quality work. Outdoor Kitchen included Primo Grill in addition to open flame grill top, warner draws and cooler. We can not wait to share our new backyard with our friends and guest. LIKE PULLING TEETH (for three months): \r Dec. 4th: Guy comes to look at broken fireplace. Part needs to be ordered from manufacturer. \r Dec. 22nd: We call to check on stat of order. We?re told the part won?t arrive until after the holidays. ...\r Jan. 4th(one month later): Call again. Nope, part still was not shipped from manufacturer. \r Jan. 19th: Call again. Oh whoops, the order was never placed.\r Feb. 9th(two months later): part comes in, technician installs part, but needs to order another part. \r Feb. 18th : We call to make SURE part has been ordered. No one knows, they need to look into it? \r Feb. 20th : We call again? Part was not ordered because they 1st needed to give us a quote? \r Feb. 20th (almost three months later): We?re finally fed up with having to pull teeth to get the job done! They?ve lost us as customers, and they gained our WARNING to prospective customers!!!!\r more

The single worst business I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. They installed two fireplaces for us that we are having to have taken out and redone. They placed the opening extremely high. Owner refused to place them where I wanted them, said he was the expert. I had said I wouldn't pay the balance unless they put them where we wanted them and he started using bad language and said he'd sue me. My builder didn't back me up, said it was between me and the company. When I left, they went ahead and installed them at the height they wanted. The opening is 28"" off the ground and they don't vent properly. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT A FIREPLACE THAT WORKS AND IS PUT IN PROPERLY! more

I've been calling for 2 days and have been getting pretty much blown off trying to get a part that was never installed on my brand new fireplace that should have been. Spoke with Martha 3 seperate times in 2 days and she still never called me back. Provided the part number on the first call, and she said they would have to call me back with the price (still never got a price) but said they may have a spare one laying around so I called Lenox, got the dimensions, called her back with them as directed and she was supposed to call me back on 10/20 by end of day to let me know if they had a spare - if not, wanted to order one. So Yesterday, end of day came and went. Called earlier today (10/21) and reminded her and she said ""Oh the guy just walked in, let me talk to him and call you back"" well, today end of day came and went, and still nothing. Called Lenox (Manufacturer) and informed them that I would be taking my business elsewhere. I guess I just wasn't important enough, or a large enough purchase for them to care about me. Worst service I've ever not gotten... I think it's a shame CitySearch requires atleast one star because in my book you earn one just calling a customer back, and they clearly didnt.... more

Dad got his propane hook-up today, and he's just thrilled with his new logs! They look beautiful, and I think there's no doubt that they'll put off enough heat to keep him satisfied. And the electric start and remote was definitely the way to go - Dad looked like a kid at Christmas today pushing the buttons on his remote.\r \r Just wanted to say thanks for all your help and the great service. We really appreciated how knowledgeable you are about your products and the whole process, and for providing good information without any sales pressure. Dad was so comfortable with you (and me too!), and that's especially important with elderly parents. And being able to see his options in your showroom was tremendously helpful. WilliamSmith Fireplaces is an outstanding small business providing quality service at a reasonable price. When we first contacted WilliamSmith about a fireplace for our new home we thought we new exaclty what we wanted, however, Steve Smith showed us several different types and helped us understand the pros and cons of each type and we ended up with something completely different for less money than the builder had origianally budgeted. \r \r I would highly recommend working with a fireplaces company like WilliamSmith Fireplaces prior to setting a budget with your builder. You will end up with a better fireplace, log set than your builder will provide for the money. Pros: Willingness to work with you, Reliable, Timely Cons: Small showroom, but quality showroom more
