At least they got the name right. It?s a ?meat and three place? and they?re all the same. You get a hunk of mystery meat and a spoonful each of three different greasy vegetables that all taste the same. They toss two pieces of rock hard cornbread on top of it and you?re supposed to wolf the whole thing down in the 20 minutes you?ve got before you have to be back at work. I?d rather eat a Snickers?more nutrition and fewer calories Pros: Like Going to the Circus. Cons: LIke Going to the Circus more

You'll Feel Welcomed 6/19/2008

I was visiting Nashville and felt welcomed right away when I entered this restaurant. I'd read a favorable description of it in FROMMER'S GUIDE TO NASHVILLE and made it one of my destinations. White Trash Cafe is decorated with memorabilia, but it is not gaudy. In fact, the lights are low, so that, even with sunlight coming in through the front window, you have a feeling of privacy. The name, of course, is humorous, but the affection behind the whole enterprise is genuine. I had smothered chicken with two sidedishes, coffee and a very tasty banana pudding. It was comfort food with a difference: a dash of wit. My pudding had Nilla Wafers and bits of cereal in it. The pudding was heated so that the natural flavor of the banana was enhanced. more

Kind of dirty 3/31/2008

The food was pretty good, although my meatloaf was dry around the edges. The whole place looked like it could use a good cleaning and their health inspection score was only 84. There wan't anything fun or wacky going on like some other reviews have described. Also, they no longer serve breakfast. Pros: inexpensive Cons: needs a good scrubbing more

Dinner Rolls! 2/27/2008

Dinner rolls! Dinner Rolls! Dinner Rolls! MUST HAVE! Who would have thought you could make a dinner roll so good....but White Trash Cafe did! more

Best food in Nashville 2/11/2008

The White Trash Cafe has the best food in Nashville. They treat you like family. We travel through Nashville several time each year and always make it a point to eat here. We even made a special trip to Nashville to attend their Dinner Theater (had a blast). I have recommended it to all my friends. more

My reason for loving Nashville 1/7/2008

After being told that Nashville had the nicest people, I visited and found very few. I was really disappointed in hospitality until I came to the White Trash Cafe. We went there because Arnold's was closed and we really wanted to try a meat and three. When we came in, we were greeted with a warm smile and a ""what can I get for you guys?"" Lynn, the owner, is amazing! This man has the perfect attitude for the establishment because he's got a great sense of humor and treats you like an old friend. Knowing that I came from California, he brought out my dessert in a disneyland mug to make me feel closer to home. I'll tell you one thing for sure, that banana pudding puts a smile on my face every time I think of it. Pros: The ambience was great, the staff was great and the food- unpretentious more

Make the Trip - good food, decor and service 1/4/2008

As a tourist to Nashville we found this place on City Search and thought we would give it a try. Pros: decor, food and service Cons: it is off the ""tourist path"" so you have to make a bit of an effort - but it is worth it more

Great food great fun 1/4/2008

I came here to read reviews and was shocked at the reviews for White Trash Cafe. This has to be one of my all time favorite places to eat in Nashville. I eat there once a week or more. The food is always amazing . I think once I went there and did not care for the texure of the steak the owner promptly apologized brought me something else and a dessert on the house..and the atmosphere is just fun. The decor is like Jeff Foxworthy's granny's yard sale gone wild. Every time you go you see something different that you remember from a relatives house that you hoped they would never give you as a gift. lol The service was friendly. They even offered to prepare sweet potatoes special for me because they were not on the menu till the next day. Pros: Great food, feel at home surrondings friendly staff Cons: parking can be a challenge and sometimes you have to wait for a table. more

Oh, my gosh, the White Trash Cafe is wonderful. Down home, southern food. The strawberry cobbler is out of this world!!! I make it a point to have lunch there everytime I'm in Nashville. Dont let the outside fool you - go in and have the best meat and veggies in Nashville! Pros: The Best Food more

Yuk!!! 7/11/2007

I had a coupon to this restaurant in my Entertainment Book 07. Thought I would try it out as I love meat and 3's. We went on a Wednesday. 2 of the 5 vegetable offerings were sold out. Whoever heard of running out of mac & cheese? Anyway, I had liver and onions, green beans, mashed potatoes and a roll. The liver and onions was beef liver, not calf liver as I was expecting. (Should have asked first, I know.) It was as thin as cardboard and tasted like it had been cooked last week, inedible. The mashed potatoes had the skin on and tasted dirty. The green beans were the most acceptable thing I ordered next to the iced tea. The roll was hard as a brick. My friend ordered roast beef, pinto beans, and mashed potatoes. She agreed with me on the potatoes; her pintos tasted like bar-b-que beans and she said the roast beef was okay. After 4 or 5 bites we paid and left. Total waste of $13 w/coupon. Never again. Should be closed down. Pros: very friendly staff Cons: gross food more

Was I at the wrong White Trash Cafe??? 6/11/2007

My boyfriend and I went in here this past saturday afternoon and I have to say this was by far and away the WORST food and service that I have ever experienced. My BF had the catfish, mac'n cheese, & potatoes and I had the BBQ chicken, mac'n cheese & red beans and rice. My BF said the catfish was edible but salty however the rest of the meal tasted like instant from a box. My BBQ chicken was the worst tasting stuff I have ever had, I almost doubt that it was chicken. When I asked her to just take it off the bill as i had just barely touched it she looked at me like I was asking for a lung. Since I have moved on to the service, the server was crazy enough to say that she was the only server and she was sorry, well we looked around and there was only one other couple in there. The point is the food and service was horrible, maybe we were at some twisted twin sister of the same name becasue the reviews that we read leading us here and the actual experience were night and day. Pros: HA HA HA HA...if you find one let me know. Cons: everything more

best meat and three 1/20/2007

white trash cafe was amazing. food was awesome, customer service even better. unique and fun - perfect place to bring out of town guests. Pros: food is great, a lot of fun Cons: none that i can think of more

You HAVE to visit this one! 1/4/2007

The White Trash Cafe was the first stop my husband and I made on our way into Nashville for a no kids getaway over New Years weekend. And we are so happy that it was! It was the perficet start to a VERY fun weekend in Music City. The decor of the place had us giggling vefore we even went in and it was even more fun on the inside! The food was great and the people there were even better! They could not have been any nicer and they made my husband and I feel like part of the family. We had perfectly cooked eggs, potatoes, grits and bacon that they maple cure in house, I was practically licking my plate. Before we left, they brought us a little bowl of their turnip greens they were going to serve on New Years Day... they were so good, my husband talked about them the rest of the weekend. Needless to say, we made the last stop of our vacation a return trip to The White Trash Cafe for a fabulous lunch and more friendly conversation. We feel like we have friends in Nashville now and will make a point of going back to thes fun, friendly, delicious cafe every time we can! Pros: GREAT Food, WONDERFUL atmosphere, SUPER NICE people Cons: its not closer to Atlanta! more

Just a really good breakfast! 11/27/2006

My wife and I had breakfast here last week, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We both cleaned our plates! The potatoes with onions are some of the best I've ever had. Everything else was cooked exactly as we ordered and tasted great. My wife likes peanut butter with her pancakes so she asked the owner if they had any. He checked, and discovered that they didn't have any. He then was nice enough to walk across the street to a market and purchase peanut butter for her ! We were very impressed by this.! We definately will go back if for nothing else than the decorating, which is (to say the least) interesting... Pros: Food, ambience, service more

The only thing missing in Chicago is The White Trash Cafe!! 2 thumbs up and more. 11/21/2006

My sister and I came to Nashville from Chicago for a short visit. We had read about White Trash Cafe on City Search and put that on the top of our list of places to visit. We had the best time there. The food was great. I only wish I could have eaten more. The nana pudding was to die for. You feel welcome from the time you walk in the door till it's time to leave. The zany lady at the register should be in the movies. The waitresses were excellent. They did everything but cut the meat and feed it to us. And they probally would have if we asked. Our coffee mugs never were empty and believe me we drink a lot of coffee. The young man who owns the place was friendly and spent a lot of time talking with us. We would have loved to buy a cook book of all his great recipes. The cole slaw and cucumber salads were my personal favorites. If he ever decides to open a Cafe in the Chicago area it would be great to work for him. I hope he opens more Cafes like this. The other diners were also very nice. Everyone was chatty and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The prices can't be beat. If you go bring along a camera and take a picture in the bathtub that sits outside. Pros: The whole exprence was a pleasure Cons: He has no plans to open one in Chicago. I'd be applying for a job. more

Fun atmosphere and great service! 11/19/2006

We had a party of 18 and had made arrangements before hand. When we arrived everything was setup and the employees were so accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was very fun. Looking at all the crazy stuff inside was the best part. The service was very quick and accurate. We really enjoyed the white trash cafe and would recommend it to anyone who lives or is going to visit Nashville. more

not just lunch any more: yummy breakfast too! 8/30/2006

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Art is What You Can Get Away With, but ambience aside, when you want some of mama's home cooking without the hugs or the nagging as the case may be, The White Trash Cafe is the place to forget the real world and indulge in the comfort of chicken and dumplings, or chicken any old way that mama or grandma would make. The potpies are a nice big serving and taste like you remember. On Fridays, you might want to get there before one if you really want some catfish. Yes, I am southern, and yes I love my beans and taters. I love all the beans here, especially the bowl of white beans and cornbread. The taters not so much; I don't care for skins in mashed taters. The breakfast taters however are wonderful, skin and all. I had the taters and onions and they were better than I ever make at home and I've been practicing for years. The eggs were done how I asked, and the biscuit tasted real. The coffee was good and kept coming. This was my first breakfast at the White Trash, but it won't be the last. Pros: food well prepared and tasty, decor unique to say the least Cons: service variable more

Food bland...fun atmosphere 8/24/2006

The place is unique and fun...lots of ""off the wall"" decor. We had read so many good reviews about the restaurant that we were really looking forward to having a meal there....but when we got our meal we were SO dissapointed! I had the blackened baked catfish and my partner had the meatloaf. The blandest meal we have had in a long time. The sides (mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, peas) were also very bland and below average. Pros: Inexpensive, Fun decor Cons: Food is terrible more

Home-cookin' and FUN and friendly folks!! 6/29/2006

It was great. All the way around. The food was just like you'd find at momma or gramma's. Smothered chicken was FABULOUS!! Great service, but in a family member to family member kind of way. more
