I recently went into West on two separate occasions. The first time was on a Saturday to meet friends for drinks; it was busy, but not packed. The steep prices of the drinks should indicate a higher level of professionalism. Our waitress seemed a bit too comfortable with us and some of her comments left us feeling uncomfortable. It also took too long to get our drinks (over 10 minutes for beer and wine). We then went straight to the bar for our next round; the only one who paid us any attention was the taller gentleman. All in all, we left an hour later not terribly impressed. I decided to give it another go and try a less busy night, and went back on a weekday for dinner. Our waitress was Emily who was great! She put us right at ease, answered all our questions and we enjoyed having her as our server. Again, the drinks took some time to come out and our cocktails were not made right. The food was not great, but good enough to make me want to come back to try other items. However, towards the end of our meal, we witnessed a young woman (a manager, I am assuming) berating the staff. Granted, there were only a handful of customers left and thought it didn't last long, but it completely soured our nice dining experience. It made us uncomfortable and I felt embarrassed for the poor staff. \r
I enjoyed the atmosphere and found the food to be tasty. But the unprofessional staff, slow bartenders and high cocktail prices will be keeping me from returning any time soon.
