This used to be a nice neighborhood place. The food used to be excellent, the best in the city, but the bar staff mixed depending on who waits on you.
Sometime last year they changed chefs and changed the menu. Since then it seems that they can't get the simplest of orders right. Look, if I order a side of mashed potatoes then the waitress should know I ordered mashed, She should not bring me french fires then ask me ""How is everything?""
The bar is hit or miss. Before, the guys tending bar were terrific servers and the girls were too busy on their Blackberries. Now, the girls at the bar give the best service, while the guys are hunched over and distracted.
Earlier this year I walked in for brunch and I ordered a western omelet, nothing difficult, everyone knows what a Western omelet is. I said to our waitress I wanted American cheese and tomatoes. I got my omelet, no cheese, no tomatoes.
Another time I ordered a burger with mashed potatoes. I got a burger with fries. You would think my server knew what I wanted and would bring me the correct drink. I once tried to talk to Ray, the manager about the poor service. Talking to him is like talking to a wall, it's like he's in his own little world (I think he's uncomfortable around people).
Beer is reasonable and the girls behind the bar are friendly and personable (but not the guys).
West on Centre is in a terrific location but the experience is very uneven. I've seen no signs of it getting better.
