Absolutely Best 2/25/2012

My son had acne. He is 14. He is doing great and the medicines worked great. We loved how friendly dr. Wasserman was and the time he spent telling my son baseball stories made my son feel comfortable. It's the first time my son followed the instructions because he liked Dr. Wasserman so much. The office staff spent so much time with my wife and me giving us information on how to take care of his skin. They didn't just give us medicines but educated us on how and why to do everthing. They were really great.\r \r \r \r more

Similar experience as mystic32... bizarre and mean 12/7/2011

I can't really complain about the medical care however I would never want to go to an office who treats patients so mean. I had a similar experience. Like Mystic32... I forgot about an appt & I got a nasty letter saying I obviously do not care about my health so I was not welcome there anymore. My husband still goes there , and we noticed that our insurance company always seemed to be billed for more moles removed than actually were removed. My husband didnt care because he thinks all doctors do that but I called to question them and the woman yelled at me and said I was accusing them of fraud and would not talk to me. When I called back she hung up on me. I don't know why she didn't just explain the insurance payments if they were accurate. I am not accusing anyone of fraud here in this comment... but I would have liked an explaination of the billing. They are weirdos. more

VERY HAPPY 11/17/2011

I have been to Dr. Wasserman four times. He has this ability to pick up very small pre-cancers and skin cancers early. He looks really carefully. He just won the dermatologist of the year award for the whole state of Pensylvania. I am really happy someone at work told me about him. more

Great Results, Great Service 4/30/2011

What a wonderful experience! I had 2 visits and my face never looked better. The acne medicine worked great and the nurse gave me coupons which brought the cost down. Dr. wasserman spent more time explaining things to me than any doctor I have been to before. No rushing.....He is not fast but good. You do have a wait when you get there but that's a doctors office. This is the real deal. Dermatologists I went to in the past are always trying to sell things to you. None of that here. I even talked to a professional baseball coach in the waiting room. more

Mole Removed healed Beautiful 11/24/2010

First time I ever saw him. My grandmother recomended him to me. She said she goes there all the time. I made the appointment with a very nice woman on the phone who reminded me to bring all my previous medicines with me. They confirmed me twice which was great because I sometimes forget appointments. He was friendly and spent a good amount of time with me for my visit. The rash I had went away fast with the prescription. He gave me a coupon for the medicine which saved me a lot of money. He also took an itchy mole off me which healed so beautiful, I can't find the spot 2 months later. They are very strict about not no showing for appointments and told me if people no show they are asked to go to another doctor. I think this is fine because they call you to remind you. I sent my girlfriend there now who said she also likes the doctor. more

Bizarre Experience 8/27/2010

While recently looking for Dr. Wasserman's phone number online, I came across this set of reviews and was surprised to see so many bad ones. I saw this doctor a few times several years ago and while his personality is a bit odd, I thought he was very thorough and was satisfied with his care.\r \r So based on my prior good experiences I called to make an appt. His nurse (who one of the previous reviewers says is the doctor's wife) called me back. In a very accusatory tone, she told me that according to my chart I had not been there since 2005. Not quite sure what response I was expected to give, I simply agreed with her. She then nastily asked me ""Well what have you been doing between then and now?"" I told her I didn't understand what she meant. She said I had an appt. in 2006, but canceled it and never rescheduled. She also told me that the doctor had sent me a letter after the cancellation and then proceeded to read the entire letter to me. In short, because I have a light complexion and freckles, he was recommending that I see him once a year for a screening. I asked what this letter from 4 yrs. ago had to do with the appt. I wanted to make now. She went on and on about my not keeping that appt. to the point that I told her she was harrassing me and that if she didn't want to give me an appt., that's fine, there are plenty of other dermatologists in the city. She said the doctor is taking part in a skin cancer screening program and wouldn't be able to see me until December. I said, ok, thank you and hung up on her. Now, why she felt it necessary to give me such a hard time when she knew that from the beginning, I don't know. Or perhaps it was her decision that he not see me. Very strange behavior for a ""professional"".\r \r When I got home from work, there was a message from Dr. Wasserman saying that he had been given a message to call me. I did not request that he call me nor do I have any intentions of calling him back. Based on the other reviewer's experiences, that call more than likely would not go well either. I have already found another doctor. more

A good dermatologist 8/12/2010

I'm not a doctor or in the field but I am educated and in the education field and I do have several friends in other fields who constantly get rants on these types of sites and take it too personally. I only found this site because I was looking up their fax number online to obtain a new referral (if you want to complain then complain about insurnace companies, lol) and stumbled onto these reviews. I was surprised that so many were bad as I've never had a problem with this doctor.\r I started seeing him for a ""simple"" wart removal. I have never witnessed any of the horror stories I've read in these other reviews - no yelling for rescheduling, etc. In fact, when I have had to reschedule they've been perfectly fine. Of course, I'm proffessional about it and don't keep putting them off like some of the reviewers seem to do. \r Yes, the office is not that greatly decorated - I hate pepto-medical-pink offices but my optometrist is great and has basically the same color scheme going.\r Yes, the wait time can seem long, but have you ever had a Dr. who didn't have a long wait time? I never have - unless there was a noshow before me.\r Yes, he loves to chat baseball - a sport that bores me to tears - but Doctors have to chat to get to know their patients and I'm frankly glad that he does even if the subject is boring to me because I know that while he talks a lot about baseball he is also listening to me. I feel like some of these reviewers simply don't get it and are too hung up on themselves to recognize a good doctor.\r And to complain about the receptionist reminding you of an appointment.... she's the only reason I remember them! And they aren't nearly as rude as some of the people talking about them. But some bitter souls have nothing better to do than complain. \r more

Great Job for me 7/15/2010

I have been there several times and always felt that Dr. Wasserman was good but this last time I had the ultimate good medical care. I had been in the hospital for 2 weeks and complained of a tiny itchy bump and showed it to several doctors who told me it was from a needle stick from my IV. Then showed it to my family doctor after I got out of hospital who told me it was a scar from my IV. I then went to Dr. Wasserman who looked at it and said he thought it was a basil cell carcinoma. He biopsied it and it was skin cancer. He did a great job. You will wait when you are their because he does not move fast but I think thats good that he takes his time. For me that was great. Pros: Professional, Great Staff, Really Knows his field Cons: You will wait in the waiting room more

I wish I had read these reviews sooner! 5/17/2010

I wish I had read these reviews before my son's appointment. This doctor is completely NUTS! After a football injury, my son had a blood blister removed from his chest. He spent the entire appointment telling us how many athlethes he has treated. Then he said to my son, ""I don't know why you're wasting your time playing football, you'll never be an NFL player. You are too small."" I responded that he likes to stay active and doesn't really see himself in the NFL. Again he said my son is wasting his time with football.\r When we missed our follow-up appointment because of my youngest son's ""very serious"" illness, he called me at CHOP and lectured me for 5 minutes. He said I was an irresponsible parent! Days later I received a certified letter in the mail saying my son is no longer a patient. Whew, what a relief! Pros: quick appts, (now i know why) Cons: Arrogant more

really good job 2/23/2010

Dr. Wasserman did a great job! Just saw him 2 weeks ago for the first time. Even though it was snowing, and I was the last person and I was late they waited for me after I called them and told them the snow was slowing me down. I can't thank him enough for that. The really itchy rash I had got better in one day from that awesome cream! My sister told me he was great and she was right! The coupon for the medicine saved me alot of money. I really apreciate it! Pros: I did great! Cons: no more

Take the Good with the Bad 11/17/2009

I am a long term patient of Dr. Wasserman's. But, I will be as unbiased as possible. 1. If you have a real health concern (skin cancer/funky moles, persistent warts, odd rash, eczema/psoriasis), he is definitely worth going to. 2. The nurse is his wife (which could explain a few experiences) 3.Jeffhealth is a long-term friend of Dr. Wasserman's. I've heard plenty of stories over the years about Jeff, the doctor from North Jersey, who he stops to see occasionally on his way to/from NY. He wrote a fair review below. CON: looooong waits (in the waiting room, and examining room) controlling personality (which seems unnecessary when you're compliant) he takes everything personally I've watched people get escorted out of his office I've heard him holler at people on the phone rescheduling is difficult- harassed me when I needed to reschedule. His receptionist called me at work, then put me on hold so he could yell at me! he yells at patients and makes them feel bad he tried giving me parenting advice! egotistical PRO: Thorough skin exams * Explains and educates (shows you textbook and pamphlets) Knowledgeable about dermatology (and baseball) Old doc style- chatty, personable Medical assistants are friendly Keeps my psoriasis under control...knew what it was the moment he looked at it Called my house when he received my biopsy report and needed further treatment If you have something minor, he's not worth going to because of his erratic emotions. But, if you need thorough care from someone who really understands medicine/dermatology (not all doctors do), this is a good person to see- just brace yourself. Pros: good medical knowledge Cons: poor bedside manner more

I second, ""ugh"" 7/29/2009

I've never been to Dr. Wasserman. But what I can comment on is how he treats service providers. I agree with the other posts that he thinks he's an exceptional human being. But I've seen him go for the jugular on a store clerk to the point where she was reduced to tears from taking his abuse. He called her ""stupid"" and a ""liar"" and tried to get her fired. He raised his voice and totally lost his composure. I can't remember what his complaint was about, I just remember thinking, ""This guy is nuts!"" This is the type of doctor that should be reported. Cons: he scares the heck out of me! more

Best Doctor My Family Goes To 7/8/2009

Doctor Wasserman is very complete and detailed. He is like the old time doctors our families grew up with. I am a nurse at a University Hospital in Philadelphia and my professional friends there seem to know he is the one to see. My whole family goes there and he has picked up small skin cancers that were just beginning and were extremely small on my grandmother. You do wait when you go there but it is worth it because he talks to you and really knows you if you are his regular patient. You feel like you received a detailed visit and there is no rushing here like in other doctors offices where you just feel like a number. His staff makes sure you remember your appointments. He emphasizes follow up to see the results of treatment and I as a nurse know how important that is. I wish my regular docs paid as much attention! Some of my regular doctors call in medicines on the phone without even looking at me! You won't get that with Dr. Wasserman! Pros: Gives me all the time I need Cons: I don't know of any more

ugh 5/29/2009

The reasons why i wouldn't recommend this place are many. This guy seems outdated and his office is old. All he does is talk about himself and tells stories which are a waste of my time. His nurse hands out expired samples (from 2004, it's 2009 now!), and he can't write in my chart himself — he has one of the assistant-assistants do it. So not only do I have to listen to Dr. Wasserman talk about his brother's-girfriend's-sister's puppy, now I have to look at some braces-clad teen in scrubs taking copious notes on post-its. Everything about this place is strange. He didn't really listen to my wishes on what I wanted my treatment to be because he talked about himself so much. Not worth my copay. Already have another appointment with another practice. Pros: close to my house Cons: long wait, dingy office, general weird feeling more

stay away 2/25/2009

I am also in the medical field and went to see Dr Wasserman , I had same experience as many of these posts, I should have gone to this site and read these reviews, . I never knew that I had a follow up appoinment until I received a call to confirm. I told the woman on the phone I did not have a appointment and did not need to see the Doctor., she was very rude and talked down to me like I was a 2 yr old. Then the Doctor got on the phone and he continued to talk down to me. I have never in my years dealt with a Doctor or staff like this, It is a wonder that he still has a license. Cons: Rude more

He is the best 2/4/2009

I am a healthcare professional in north jersey. I drive 100 miles to see Dr. Wasserman because he is the best. Years ago, I was seeing a dermatologist who told me I did not need followup. I was bothered by this because of my family history of skin cancer. I made my way to Dr. Wasserman because I saw him on TV related to his work with skin cancer in professional athletes. I believe I am alive only because Dr. Wasserman insisted on twice yearly exams because of my family risk. He picked up a melanoma in its early stages which my oncologist said would eventually have done me in if not for my regular exams. Dr. Wasserman, thank you. Your attention to detail is why I am alive. Don't change a thing. By the way your nurse is why I never forget my appointments!! Pros: attention to detail, close follow up Cons: absolutely none more

This Guy is NUTS!!!!!! 1/26/2009

I called to rescheulde a appointment. OMG, they were very persistant that I reschedule immediately. I told them I would need to check my schedule and call them back, they put the Doctors nurse on the phone and she said I needed to reschedule right then and there. I again told her I need to check my work schedule and call them back, she put me on hold for at least 5 minutes. I hung up, then the Doctor called me back and was annoyed that I would not reschedule at that moment and said if I did not rescheulde he would not see me again. Then he sends me a 2 page letter berating me. What a Nut . He spends more time telling you how great he is and how he did skin testing for the Phillies, he is very full of himself and thinks he is a brain surgeon. He is basically a pimple doctor that tries to build himself up.\r After my expereience I talked to a friend that had the same experience with Dr Wasserman, he called her house and screamed at her for a appointment that she had cancelled weeks prior. Sounds like he is hard up for patients and will go to any extreme to make sure you have to continue seeing him. I found another Doctor through my insurance company who I am very happy with. Dont go to this Guy, you will regret it.Also it looks as though he has his staff write nice reviews after there is a negative post. I really dont believe someone drove 100 miles from North Jersey to see this whack job. when they have access to the finest Doctors in New York City. Pros: Got an appointment immediately, now I know why Cons: Will go to any extreme to make sure you continue his care more

Grateful for his help 11/28/2008

My son had persistent warts. We tried all the over the counters and several other dermatologists. No one was able to help us. He was the only doctor who explained the importance of regular treatments and this is why his office staff encouraged not canceling of appointments. I listened and they were right and now the warts are completely gone. Now, I go there also and I think he's great! He also really talks to us and to me that makes him a real doctor......It may slow him down but this is the kind of doctor I want, not someone who is in and out in 5 seconds. Pros: Treated us great! more

Do not go to this doctor 11/6/2008

After a bizarre conversation with both the doctor and nurse where I was questioned and berated for requesting to reschedule an appointment I looked the doctor up to see what type of reviews he had. I had the same type of experience as the negative reviews posted. There is definitely something wrong with this doctor and nurse team. It was a scary experience. Hopefully readers will review a doctor before visiting. I've learned this the hard way. I believe he needs psychological help! Cons: all that you can think of more

Great Doctor, Great Experience 8/9/2008

The doctor knows his dermatology and always educates me thoroughly about my condition and concerns.\r His office staff is polite and professional and on several occasions has helped me with insurance issues. They helped me get my referal when my primary physician's office staff was unhelpful. They go the extra mile to help which I have found is rare. I have sent him several of my relatives and they all told me they were also pleased. My old dermatologist would never squeeze me in when I had an emergent problem but Dr. Wasserman's office staff always tries to get me into his busy schedule. I think this is why the doctor sometimes gets behind in his schedule. He is always trying to help. Thanks for taking care of my Mom. Pros: He knows dermatology Cons: None more
