I understand that buying a new car at a dealership isn't everyone's idea of fun. But I had a really great buying experience at Oakland VW. I bought (leased, actually) a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen. It's an awesome car--I love VWs, from my 1969 Karmann Ghia to my 2002 Golf, so I never really considered anything else. I wanted a new VW, and I live in Oakland, so where else was I gonna go? The salesman I worked with was Jhimbo Espiritu. He is a really, really great guy. He didn't put any pressure on me at all; I was very straight with him, he was straight with me. I recommend that anyone who's looking for a VW stop by and ask for him. (I'm sure the other sales guys are... well, actually, who knows. I didn't talk to the other guys.) The bottom line: I thought it was going to be an annoying process, and it wound up being really great. more

We found the car online, and did a lot of the discussion around price before arriving at the dealership. JD was very knowledgeable about the car, and made us feel right at home. Overall, the trip to the dealership was as relaxing as it can be when one is spending that much money! more

As far as my experience at Volkswagen of Oakland it was as good as an experience as I could have hoped for, and I would say it had everything to do with my sales person Chris Garcia. Chris has a very refreshing style of being 100% professional while not being pushy or coming off like a total "sales" guy. He let me move at my pace and didn't try to pull any old school dealer crap that traditionally makes car buying one of the most unpleasant experiences. I'm betting if more sales people (at any dealership) took a page out of Chris's book there would be a lot more sales! I almost walked away from buying a car from VW Oakland after randomly stumbling upon Yelp while doing research on TDi's. I was shocked by what appeared to be the worst reviews I've ever seen of anything...ever. I don't even use Yelp as a tool but the reviews were so bad it was stunning. My wife was not going to buy a car from VW Oakland after what she saw, but then I called Chris he reassured us not to worry about the reviews that we had his 100% guarantee of the professionalism of the dealership and he would standby personally to be sure everything worked out. Which it did, and it was a pleasure and Chris is clearly the reason for it. With his skills I'm sure he won't stay on the floor long but what an asset he will be for your company more

The overall experience was exemplary. JD Livesay made it so from our first meeting, through the ordering, then pick up process. Given my preferred GTI configuration, I needed to order the car. JD & I agreed on a very fair price and he made to process simple and stress free. I have already recommended friends to VW of Oakland. more

I bought my first VW, the one with the oval window, in the 1960s. Since then I owned another beetle, 2 Squarebacks, a KarmannGhia, and the camper. The 2010 Golf is the best one yet. more

Michael Madamba was highly responsive and flexible in meeting with me at times that were convenient for me. He literally walked out of a staff meeting at one point on Thursday; and when I inquired, said I was more important (which I appreciated.) He was equally responsive via email and in person. He handling the pricing discussions objectively and positively. Michael Troc was very efficient in plowing through the paperwork, made sure I understood what I was signing, offered a number of products and services, described their benefits, and was respectful when I declined some. I would definitely recommend both Oakland Volkswagen and my car to others. more
