WORST MANAGEMENT EVER! 5/17/2010

I bought a pre-owned 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid from Volkswagen South in August of 2009. I am young, and when I was buying my car, the management treated me disrespectfully. I was walked out on when I asked to lower the price of the car 500$. The financial guy was rude and I had to bring my father in to talk to him because he refused to talk to me because I was 20 and had no "experience" in car buying. I agreed to purchase the vehicle at asking price if they agreed to fix the car to my standard. They agreed and signed a "WE OWE" with my purchase. Soon after, the company went under new ownership and Volkswagen South told me to go to Carolina Volkswagen where was still run by the same owner. I did just that and they refused to honor my "WE OWE." I called back and forth to each Volkswagen dealership for months and I would either be ignored, hung up on, laughed at, lied to, and even ran from. It has been ten months now and I have still not even received the second key to my vehicle. I drove the car off the lot DIRTY because they were closing for the night. Carolina Volkswagen was just as bad and made me be the middle man in their business. Not only did South treat me disrespectfully in the car buying process, they had NO IDEA what they were selling! They didn't know anything about my car or how it worked etc. I did all the research off of my blackberry because they wouldn't let me use a computer to do it or even try looking it up themselves! This is the worst business ever! I would love to own a VW someday but I can tell you I will not be buying one in Charlotte! I have contacted Better Business Bureau and I am hoping i get the Navigation disks, get the cracked windshield fixed, get my bumpers painted, get the leather repaired, and the body work done! Oh, and get my car cleaned with the second key. Pros: NONE! Cons: Management, Lied to, Not committed, The list can go on! more

Avoid Service Department 1/9/2010

My daughter took her Passat here for an oil leak. Ended up needing $220 in parts for which they charged $868 in labor and $35 for Shop Supplies; with tax this repair cost us $1141. Upon picking up the vehicle my wife asked if the oil was filled (since the vehicle had an oil leak, we didn’t want our daughter driving around low on oil) for which the service manager said, “of course.” The next morning, after the vehicle sat all night, I checked the oil, and it was one quart low. So we just spent $1141 to fix this oil leak and now I have to go out and buy a quart of oil – frustrating! For the amount they charge for labor I would expect a skilled technician to ensure the oil is filled before returning the vehicle. My wife called and spoke with the manager and he said he would check into this and call back – we’re still waiting for the callback. This will be the last time we use Volkswagen of South Charlotte for any of our service needs. Pros: Location Cons: Expensive labor rate; amature work quality more

Disorganized And Dishonest 1/18/2009

I purchased a 2008 Passat from this dealership about 6 months ago. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. They misled me about the history of the vehicle (best to ask for a CarFax). I was told I was purchasing the "manager's" car. In reality they were selling me a previous Enterprise rental car. There were small scratches on the exterior of the vehicle that they promised to fix, in writing. When I picked the car up from the "scratch repairs" it was as if nothing had been done at all. The bumper had a terrible scratch that was to be fixed, to this day that scratch is still there. After setting up a meeting with their GM (because I filed a Better Biz complaint due to their dishonest behavior) I was advised that the bumper would be completely replaced, just to make me happy, I reiterate, the scratch is still on the bumper. While in the meeting with the GM they were replacing one of the pulls on my back window shade, it was missing. I could have replaced this myself given the replacement part, they replaced the wrong one, (I would have assumed that impossible myself but their level of ignorance caught me off guard). That piece is still missing to this day. They gave me some VW gear as a peace offering. I asked them to order a large hoodie for me, they had me drive all the way there to pick up the XXL one that they ordered. The list goes on and on. You should be able to find the full breakdown of my complaint on the Better Biz site if you are interested. I am actually driving all the way to Carolina VW on Independence to avoid these people. Take my advice and do the same. Pros: Location, Facilities, Easy To Neg Price Cons: Management, Follow-up On Written Promises, Customer Focus, Vehicle Techs, more
