Food Good, service not so much... 7/27/2011

First time we went was Valentines in 2011. The whole experience was awesome..great food and awesome service. Second time was my birthday, we made reservations and were really expecting a great night. When we got there, they did not have our reservations, the hostess was less than impressive, we both got the vibe she thought she was doing us a favor to even take us to a table. No apologies about losing our reservation and then the ""UGH"" moment more

Not a good experience 6/24/2011

Ugh, so upset that I took friends from out of town to this restaurant with my husband for my birthday. We always love tapas and were so disappointed. Most of the plates were really mediocre in taste and the portions were the smallest I have ever seen for a tapas restaurant (and the pricing way to high for these portions). I was a little annoyed that boxed crackers were served with the cheese plate and that no fresh bread was available when we asked. The service was O.K. We had to fix the bill after we were double charged for our wine bottles. All in all- won't be returning there. Really bummed since we love wine bars and tapas. more

It is the best of its kind!!! 5/14/2011

I am convinced that BR54 and SJP5 are envious competitors trying to undermine the restaurant. I have been a regular customer at Vines since it opened and I can say WITHOUT reservation that these complaints are not even REMOTELY representative of the service and cordiality at Vines. Simply put, the owners hire wait staff expressly for their ability to deal with customers. The owners and staff go OUT of their way to be helpful, knowledgable and friendly. I have often seen new first time customers come in and accidentally order a wine which they don't care for. I have seen the owners and bar staff simply pick up the wine and not charge the customer, help them find a wine they like, or provide another drink. Also, I have seen the chef fix wonderful special dishes for guests OFF the menu.To put it bluntly, if you avoid Vines, you'll miss out on a VERY nice experience. As part of contributing to a local wine blog, I have been to many Wine Bars/Bistros all around the state and Vines is in the first rank for quality and variety of wine choices, quality of its food, service and ambiance. Rude uncaring service? Poor food? HOGWASH!!!! more

Not too good!!! 3/18/2011

We went to Vines last evening. There were 4 of us, 2 couples. The ladies were very excited as they are real wine lovers. As we entered, we were seated quickly and greeted by our server. The ladies asked what wine she recommended and they ordered. My buddy and I ordered beers. They came shortly and we ordered our food. The soup and my Caprese salad came shortly and we ate it, and enjoyed it, albeit a little on the small side. I compare the Caprese salad to that I get often at Armandos here in Parker. The server soon brought the main courses, except for mine. She didn't seem too aware that mine was not there, perhaps since I had chosen only stuffed mushroom caps for my dinner. In any case, I mentioned that mine was missing and she said she would check on it. A little later, she came back and said mine would be done soon, the cook had dropped it. At this very same time, my wife and friends were just finishing their meals. I said it wasn't a big deal, let's just skip it and get on with dessert. No apology or any question of any kind from our server, just ok. I had ordered my dessert at the start of the ordering and my wife and her friend ordered theirs now. It came shortly and was good. We all agreed that the portions were small, but good, at least the food we got. The server never apologized for the food mix-up. The manager never came to our table to apologize or recognize our situation. Seems somewhat less than we would expect from a place like Vines. It was probably more closely related to what I would expect from IHOP or something. more

Bad Valentine's Day ""Special"" 2/15/2011

My husband and I have been to Vines in the past for wine and tapas. We thought we'd give it a try for the $150 Valentine's Special. There was nothing ""special"" about the dinner. We were so disappointed! more

Great place for great wine! 11/2/2009

We love Vines. We've been going to Vines since it opened and really love the atmosphere, service, wine and food! We are always greeted at the door by a familiar face and at least 2 servers know what we like before we order! We are impressed by the selection of wines... best in this area for sure. We miss the live music though! more

Favorite Restraunt in Parker 10/31/2009

My wife and I have been going to vines for the last 2 years and have ALWAYS had a wonderful time there. They have one of the largest selections of wines of any of the wine bars and I think some of the reviewers are off base on their criticism of the food. The owners are both there often and very friendly. Definitely one of the best atmospheres in Parker and worth checking out. Pros: Great Wine Selection, Good Food more

Great Patio on Mainstreet to laugh with friends! 9/2/2009

I like the smaller sizes of entree's and it makes it fun to share and sample. I wish they changed up the menu a bit more, they have pretty much had the same dishes since they opened... but I still got a couple times a month... Pros: Great Happy hour and location Cons: it's a bit pricey more

Very good! 7/20/2009

My sister and I went there just for some drinks and were very impressed. It was my birthday and they gave us a free dessert, which was absolutely delicious. The recommended great wines, and the artichoke dip was also great- actual artichokes, not like some places that you go where is is just pureed and you can tell it came from the freezer! The only drawback is the extremely loud bar across the street! Of course Vines is a little pricey, but that 's because it's a wine bar! If you want cheap, go to the bar across the street. Pros: Great wine list, good food Cons: Across from a very loud bar more

I love Vines 4/24/2009

After reading a few of the negative reviews, I was compelled to write a review. I have been going to Vines for a few years and it is a great place for a night out with girlfriends or a date! For those of us that enjoy wine and Tapas, this is the place to go! It is not expensive, I think it is fairly priced for the wine selection and great food. If you like Brie, their baked Brie is amazing! Pros: Great wine and the best baked brie!!! more

Way Overpriced, sneeky staff 1/2/2009

We went here in 2007, I had some zin and my hubby likes to drink different kinds a beers. he asked the male bartender what type of stuff was good. he suggested this English beer in a green bottle. he did state that it was ""a lil bit more, only because it was a slightly bigger bottle"", than you average draft beer. The guy told us all the other prices except this one. Didnt seem suspicious at the time, till we got the dreaded bill. THEY WERE 15 bucks a beer. !!! 15 bucks a beer is not 'slightly' more. Pros: Swanky look, good corner of the bar music. Cons: EXPENSIVE- OVERPRICED! more

Vines charges too much for what they can offer 12/31/2008

I visited this restaurant for dinner on New Years Eve. The cost per person was $90.00. The limited menu gave you a choice of salmon, chicken, or filet mignon with wine and choice of soup or salad. I was with friends and got to sample all three dishes. The salmon was good but none were worth the money. The steak was not cooked to order and had gristle. The chicken was dry and bland. I am still kicking myself for wasting my money there when I could have gone to Morton?s for steak and lobster for the same price with a much better atmosphere and better service. I will never go to Vines again and will tell all my friends to avoid this place. $90.00 for a dry chicken dinner, or a steak with gristle? What a joke! Don?t waste your time or money here. Pros: Good martinis Cons: Over priced more

Sonoma in Parker, CO 12/30/2008

I spent 2 years in Sonoma, CA before moving to Colorado and Vines was the taste of wine country I was missing so much. I love this place, always have. I have been there several times and the wine is always great and so it the food. The live music is awesome, just a fun place. Everything is a matter of opinion but if I go out with a girlfriend for a little food and wine I don't consider $30.00 for my evening too much. That is what you are getting is not something to eat and drink but an experience. In this day and age of fast food and so many restraunts lacking Vines is a breath of fresh air! I just wish downtown Parker would catch up already to Vines! Don't get me wrong, it is coming along finally. Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing comes to mind. more

Unique treasure in Parker 9/12/2008

The criticisms I've read are totally off-base!. I've been to several other wine bars/bistros throughout the state (Village Cork in Denver, Bistro Al Vino in Aurora, Samplings in Reisco, etc.) and Vines compares favorably to all of them. It is a beautiful place with terrific food and a wine list which is truly superb. Boring wine? Limited selection?? That is an absolute untruth! For instance, I was unable to get a Super Tuscan, Carmenere, or a dry Rose at any of the other places I've visited. I not only found them at Vines, but had a selection of excellent wines for each. I was also impressed with the wine flights offered more

Too Expensive for What You Get 8/26/2008

I actually really liked the look of the bar, so I was really sad when the food and wine didn't meet my expectations. I guess it was my fault for setting them so high. The food is not good and is really expensive for what you get. I understand the concept of ""tapas"" so I wasn't expecting huge portions, I guess I just expected them to taste better. The desserts looked like they were just shipped in frozen and thawed out. There is an OK wine selection, but they seem to me to be priced on the high side. more

Great Date Night! 8/19/2008

What a wonderful find in small town Parker. The atmosphere is fantastic for a date night or an evening out with friends. Lee and Sherri are highly knowledgeable in wine and love to share with their guests. We highly recommend the crab dip, pork empanadas, and the beef brioche. We are big fans of the Tapas style dining and there is always something new to try. Mother's Day brunch was such a treat but get reservations well in advance. Pros: Fabulous food, great atmosphere, knowledgable staff. Cons: Can get crowded on the weekends. Get reservations or arrive early for live music. more

100+ Bad wines 8/4/2008

This is a beautiful wine bar, however the wine list is, well boring. The wines by the glass, with a few exceptions, are overpriced and very badly selected. It seems the focus is more on profit than quality wine. The staff is very poorly educated. more

Pitiful at Best 6/26/2008

They may have 100 wines by the glass but only 32 are on the cruvinet under nitrogen. Pros: If you like good wine, this is NOT the place. more

wine bar in cowtown 5/22/2008

Food is good and they have a great wine selection - staff always friendly. Definitely overpriced - they've got you over a barrell though as there's not much else in Parker. Pros: good food, great wine selection Cons: overpriced, it's in Parker more

Amazing Wine Selection! 4/25/2008

We go to Vines frequently because of the incredible wine selection and the delicous tapas. My husband always asks the server to make a wine selection for him, and every single one has been excellent. All the servers have been extremely well trained and thoroughly know every vintage available. I'm a less experienced wine drinker, so I have fun with their flights of wine and have tried everything from ports to ice wine that way. The owners have invested a lot of money in a custom system to make sure that each bottle of wine remains perfect even after uncorking. Our favorite tapas is the fish and chips (Vines has a fancier name) which is very light, but we can always be easily talked into the Crab Dip appetizer. The Creme Brulee is always perfect too. Pros: Excellent wine selection, great service Cons: Can get crowded at peak times. more
