Poor Service, Long Wait and Expensive 10/29/2011

Lawrence Pet Hospital is sloppy and is only interested in getting animals in and out. They are not concerned with the well being of your pets!\r \r Be ready to WAIT whenever you schedule an appointment with Lawrence Pet Hospital. This office overbooks their appointments. You will wait to be seen by a vet and then wait again to pay.\r \r I had two very bad experiences with this office (besides the unreasonably long wait to be seen every time ). A vet tech put a bandage on my cat's leg way too tightly, and never mentioned that she did this. My cat is fluffy and extremely shy, so when I got her home, she immediately hid. I didn't notice the bandage until ten hours later. The leg was terribly swollen. Fortunately, there didn't seem to be any permanent damage. \r \r The vet tech did call the next morning, replying to the message I left and apologized, but she didn't bother to put this info in my cat's chart or inform the vet. \r \r The clincher as to why I will never use this vet again was t more

The clincher as to why I will never use this vet again was that a thyroid test was taken and I was supposed to be notified about the results in several days. It has been close to two weeks since I was informed the vet would call me with the results and I still haven't received a call. I even called earlier today and was told they sent the results to the veterinary office I have since switched to. Funny, I checked with that office and they didn't receive complete files on my cats. more

Loving Caring Vet & Staff 3/12/2009

I drive 15 miles to go to this vet! They are all caring and professional individuals. When I take my bully dog to board, he is so excited to see the staff. We have been using this vet for over 7 years and have never had a bad experience. You get what you pay for! If you are so concerned about spending $ on your pets maybe you should get insurance for them. Pros: Caring, very clean, professional and they never keep you waiting Cons: parking can be tight more

Always caring 12/6/2008

When I read the negative reviews posted here, I feel that they must have gone to a different place. We have been going to Lawrence Pet Hospital for many years and have always felt our pets were in the best of care. Dr Reed saved our dog after she drank antifreeze and I didn't take her in for several days. \r \r The staff and doctors have always been great and caring. Pros: care of the staff, keeping us informed, hours opened, Cons: parking is a bit tight more

Fairly good vet hospital 8/25/2008

My dogs have seen Dr. Reid and Dr. Johnson. As others have said, they are pricey, but they are willing to work with me to investigate problems with my dogs. I saw Dr. Johnson this Sunday for signficant problems with a elderly dog; care has been very good and quick. Other writers have been quick to jump the gun on these vets, but it is up to the pet owner to ask questions and not blindly participate in the process and then complain later when it doesn't go the way you want it to go. more

Expensive yes, but a quality vet hospital. 3/24/2008

When our elderly dog started intestinal bleeding on a weekend, our regular vet referred us to Lawrence which is open every day. We were very impressed with the care and caring given by the two vets who treated her. Expensive, yes (which is why I rated it four stars instead of five) but we had the feeling that our puppy was receiving first rate care. And, in fact, she recovered. more

Dr. Piert is a very good doctor 3/19/2008

I do not think this person knows what doctor they saw. \r Dr. Piert does not use Pectin at all. Of all the doctors that work at Lawrence Pet Hospital, he is the one that is conservative in his treatments (read: won't spend your money for unnecessary tests/treatments). He is a realist and understands the value of your dollar. He is also a warm and easy going person. more

Dr. Piert is irresponsible! 1/16/2008

He prescribed a diet that has been giving my cat extreme diarrhea for two weeks. I have called several times to report this. Each time he says that he "needs to do some research" to find a more appropriate diet. Yet he still has not done it for two weeks! \r \r He ordered blood work on her to confirm a slight amount of calcium that was found her urine. He thought the slight level of calcium could be a fluke thing. Nonetheless, he ordered the diet change because she is overweight; He ordered a diet change to help her lose weight. But he changed her diet BEFORE the blood work results came back! Her diet change will change her blood makeup. What kind of doctor prescribes treatment BEFORE receiving lab results??? If that isn't enough, he thinks no further tests are necessary to see if her calcium level lowers (calcium often means cancer!), or weigh-ins to see if his prescribed diet is resulting in weightloss!\r \r I showed up at Lawrence Pet Hospital yesterday because he was not retu more

heeeeeyl no! 12/23/2007

first of all, they are way to pricey and their rates keep going up! this one time i went their, my dog had too much vitamins and we took him to to Lawrence Pet Hospital they wouldn't treat him unless i paid them $400+ first, all including immediate surgery along with a stomach pump. it already sounded awful to me! so i called another pet hospital, and they gave me a completely different diagnosis. They also charged me for calling an animal care line .. $40!!!!! even a customer there was like, ""that doesn't sound right, if u call them yourself its free."" so he asked them and they got all defensive and told him to leave. \r \r bottom line, NEVER GO!! unless you want your pet in danger and have tons of money to just waste. more

HORRIBLE VET DO NOT GO HERE 11/13/2007

DO NOT GO TO LAWRENCE PET HOSPITAL!!! They mistreated my dog and ALSO MY FRIEND'S DOG DIED and they still made her pay for everything in full even though it was because of their wrong diagnosis that she died!!! First of all, they diagnosed my dog completely wrong. They keep giving you the run-around and charge you more and more money so you keep having to come back and their pay high prices. They kept telling us they didn't know what was wrong with him and then that they did know, and then that they didn't... yet they kept charging. They charged us a total of 500+. He would have DIED if i didn't hurry up and take him somewhere else. Right when we took him to another vet they told us a very serious diagnosis and got him treated right away and he was already better the next day. Then when we asked for our money back from LPH, they called our new vet and hassled him, so now he doesn't want to see us anymore. Plus we didn't get our money back. And when I talked to the general manager he ga more

They are very expensive. Pros: their waiting room is nice looking Cons: they dont' care about animals, they charge a lot, they never give you a straight answer, they are rude, they charge you even if they never give you an answer. more

LAWRENCE PET HOSPITAL 8/9/2007

This is a newer hospital / animal clinic. Because of its proximity we took our dogs there. On a Saturday afternoon one of my dogs became very sick. I called 1/2 hour before closing and they wouldn't see my dog. They told me to take him to a 24 hour ER clinic and the care there was horrible. They wanted to give him an IV when he wasn't even dehydrated or running a temperature. It cost me $500. to get her treated. I was upset that Lawrence wouldn't take a good amd regular customer.\r \r My other dog was injured in a local dog park and she was rushed to Lawrence. The vet took 30 minutes getting an IV in her as she cried in pain. It was the last surgery of the day. I told the vet how sensitive to medication she was. We decided to have the ER surgery. I felt the vet wanted to leave early and rushed on the surgery. The surgery was ""successful"" but my poor sweet dog died on the surgery table as her heart stopped. The surgery was $1800. plus, in the 45 minutes she was on the table. Our dog died we had to pay in full, plus they wanted to charge more to freeze her and put her in a buriel plot. We chose to take her body home and bury her under the apple tree, rather than give them more money.\r \r The doctor was not sympathetic, just another business day to him. I feel their overhead is sky high and it is a business as opposed to a caring place to take your pets. \r \r I'd advise if living in Santa Clara to find a smaller place with vets who have a personal interest in their clients and pets. YOU PAY FOR THE OVERHEAD AND LOCATION OF LAWRENCE. Also, go to a pet clinic at Petsmart or another store for rabies shots and the 6 in one. They are priced better and seem happy doing their jobs.\r \r NG\r Santa Clara, California\r \r more

Best Pet Care Facility in the Area 6/24/2007

Everyone is always incredibly helpful, the ladies at the desk are fun and efficient, and the doctors always seem to know just what to do about any problems I've brought up with my animals. It is an incredibly nice facility (very clean, inviting). I would recomend that everyone take their pets to Lawrence. Daisy, Duke, Charlie, and my family just love it!! Pros: Doctors, waiting areas, exam rooms, prices Cons: not a lot of parking more

Lawrence pet hospital 4/4/2007

When we travel, we take our pet to Lawrence Pet Hospital on Lawrence Expressway near Stevens Creek. It is about $27 a night and when we pick him up he is healthy and happy.when we put him in different more expensive places , he has been sickly, filthy, and worn out when we picked him up. In contrast, the pet hospital has definitely come through for us. more

So not worth it 1/26/2007

I have taken my 3 dogs to Lawrence Pet Hospital for years and spent thousands of dollars to maintain my animals' health. During the past few years, their prices have increased significantly, but their customer service and care have decreased. The employees made me feel like a horrible pet owner and blamed my pet's health problems on my neglect when I had taken every step to appease the vet's recommendations. This facility is just so not worth the money or the emotional stress. Pros: Location Cons: Pricing, Customer Service more

Pretty good 3/4/2006

I take my cats here mainly because it is close to my house. They seem to have had a lot of turnover of their vets over the last 4 years which makes me a little uncomfortable. I have liked some of the vets and some of the others not so much. I do like the current set pretty well, so I could recommend it right now. They seem a little pricey, but I didn't shop around much so I can't really say for sure. more
